Black Metallic, black convertible top, tinted windows. Front tires have about 28,000 miles, rear tires are new. I purchased this vehicle in April 2014 with 39,000 miles on it. It now has 69,000 miles on it and is a daily driver. I do not know the whole story on the car, only what the guy I bought it from put in his ad and from car fax. While I have a clean Oklahoma car title, car fax says that the car was totaled by an insurance company for water damage. Only other damage was the right rear quarter panel in I believe 2007. The car looks new, and cruises down the highway great, and will pretty much go as fast as you would like to, with the 5.0 liter engine (look up top speed for 2004 CLK500 convertible). Car does lose about a quart of oil every 1000 miles, and has since I’ve owned it. My guess is that it’s burning it, but you don’t see it smoke so I’m not sure. It idles rough most of the time, but every once in a while it idles smooth, so I don’t know what that’s about. When I first bought the vehicle, it ran great but wouldn’t hardly idle at all. The Mercedes dealership did put in a new throttle body assembly which improved it dramatically. But as soon as you start accelerating, it’s smooth as can be so I can’t imagine it being anything too critical. I’ve had the vehicle maintained since I’ve owned it by a certified Mercedes mechanic and have all receipts. There is a tapping sound at idle. There seems to be quite a bit on the internet about tapping sounds on the 2004 CLK500, and they range from such close tolerances on the engine that if an oil filled motor mount loses its oil the engine will make the noise below 2000 rpm, to some sort of fuel pump relay. The mechanic’s suggestion, just turn the radio up a bit. After 29,000 miles that I’ve put on it, it hasn’t changed. I did buy two motor mounts, but not really willing to pay the 750 labor to install them! Only other issue is that the convertible top works perfectly, but on each side by the rear glass, part of the leather sticks out when the top is up. I will include a picture of it. Since I’ve owned it, the major expenses has been the throttle body assembly when I first got the car, a water pump, and replace a burned out motor on the right rear window, other than the scheduled maintenance. While I may be making the car sound terrible, it isn’t, I’m just being more honest than the guy I bought it from. I have no doubt that the car will last a very long time. I’m looking to retire shortly, and either this or my pick up has to go…..this is definitely more fun but the pick-up is more practical! I think I still have the paperwork with the original window sticker which was over 70,000. NADA shows the cars value at 14,000 plus in clean condition and over 9,000 in rough condition. I don’t think you will find one that looks any better than this one, but because of the history I have a very low reserve.NOTE: Even though I thought I had made it clear that this car has been totaled in the past, EBAY required the change in how the title is listed.
