1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9                             A very well kept 6.9L showing just 66,000 original miles!  A rare, final year example for the USA market representing one of only 576 imported in 1979.  Factory coded 494-California Version provided a rust free life style early in life!  All features remain functional, and drive qualities do not disappoint!  Large with excellent handling, and very fast even considering the overall size!  Hugely expensive when new, comparable to the S-Class of today!  Don’t miss this very desirable, hard to find model! Many automotive manufactures had little help from federal regulators when it can to making horsepower in the mid-1970 into the 1980’s. Stemming from the oil embargo of 1973-1974; fuel consumption, lower emission& highway speeds, along with oil conservation efforts were now all mandated. Apparently over in Germany, Mercedes-Benz didn’t get the memo! They set out to produce the world’s fastest, most powerful sedan. Only available in the USA from 1977 through 1979, the M00 6.9L engine option was exceptional! Its 417 cubic inch displacement was powered by Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, forged crankshaft, connecting rods, & pistons; aluminum heads, sodium filled valves, nitrated intake valve stems, chromed exhaust stems, hydraulic lifters, and a 12-quart dry sump engine lubrication system.   Even with a low 8.0:1 compression ratio, it still managed to produce 250bhp and a massive 360 ft lbs of torque! To put this into perspective in 1979, this meant more power than a Ferrari 308 GTS, Porsche 930 Turbo, Corvette L82, or a Pontiac Trans Am SE. Although this bragging right came with a very hefty price tag meaning MSRP’s breeching $50,000 by 1979! This would be equivalent to about $175,000 in today’s dollars. This also meant very low production totals, and an exceptional opportunity to collect a tremendous piece of Mercedes history!  Only 1,816 were ever imported and just 576 of those found garages in 1979. We are very excited to offer this 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9 Sedan. Finished in its original color of Milan Brown Metallic (404G) over Bamboo Tan interior, this low mileage example has traveled only 66,700 miles from new! Loaded from the factory with M100 6.9L engine, 3-speed automatic transmission, Hydropneumatic Self-Leveling suspension, power windows, central door locking system, Becker Mexico AM/FM/Cassette radio with power antenna, cruise control, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, front fog lamps with rock guards, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, VDO instrumentation, remote chrome mirrors, passenger vanity mirror, heated rear window, 14” light alloy wheels, and rear first aid kit. Our example is truly an excellent survivor featuring all original window glass, perfect undamaged dash, all original seat upholstery & floor carpeting, original owner’s manual, original tool kit, and the factory supplied set of 4 emergency rubber buffers should the suspension system fail.   The trunk retains the spare tire, rubber & carpet mats, and jack. Just recently, the original spark plugs, plug wires, & distributor cap were replaced for the first time. The hood insulator pad, battery, and tires were all installed in 2015. The Euro-style headlamps have been on this car for many years. Built in June 1979, this unit is factory coded with option 494 representing a ‘California Version’ meeting west coast emission demands. It continues to retain a rust free, super solid body & chassis today! A garage kept, well maintained unit without question. All features have proven to work including the air conditioning, factory radio, dash clock, and electric windows & sunroof. A surprisingly fun car to drive for the power, a stellar car riding over the bumps, and amazingly quiet at speed. Please call with questions or offers. Thanks for looking! Very Rarely is a Mercedes S-Class like this one or offered on eBay or anyplace else! This possibly is The Nicest 420SEL Car in Existence! A 1989 Mercedes 420SEL that is near flawless. Per the original Motor Vehicle and Security Agreement (which I have) this vehicle was purchased on June 9, 1989 at McDonald's Motor company in Ventura, California, that does not exist today. I have the owner's original pink slip, plus the McDonald Motor company License Plate frame. The car spent it's entire life in the Ventura area until I purchased it in May of 2014. The reason it has such low miles is that when the gentleman purchased the car for his wife they realized that with 4 kids they needed a van instead of a $70,000 Mercedes. So it was stored in their garage and used only for special occasions for 25 years! And it's arguably the most Desirable Combo: Black 040 paint over Black Leather. The photos show Chrome Centra wheels I believe the owner put on the car, restored OEM slotted wheels which are on the car now, and BBS wheels that DO NOT come with the car but can be purchased separately if anyone is interested; they are very rare and Period Correct. The car is all original except for the "Clear Bra" protection system I added to the car for driving it. I've had the car serviced at the GLB Motor Works, when I bought it. I did disable the seat belt alarm system and repaired a dome light connection. I also had a few incidental dings removed by a careful dent doctor company. You could barely see them. But I had to make the car as perfect as possible; I'm one who goes overboard looking for perfection. The only thing that it needs is I believe a mono valve for the heater operation, but I will not testify to that. I had a sale of the car to a MBCA Section president but he decided it was Too New to drive. I bring this up because this car can be driven due to the Aforementioned Clear Bra I had installed on the car - Not just the normal front and half Hood application. I spent almost $2000 to Clear Bra the front of the bumper, full hood, full front fenders, rockers, and the cladding on both sides. The photos I took are not professionally shot, but I wanted to try and show detailed Pics showing the newness of the car. Please notice the The Trunk Area: the latch, trunk entry ledge, etc. And even the Driver' Door Striker. Notice the driver's Sun Visor, as new. as is the Black Leather seating. Also the condition of the Aluminum Door trim, No hazing, scratches and the Undercarriage photos showing the Cosmoline all over - it's the protective product applied at the Mercedes factory, and that was 26 years ago. Buyer is responsible for transportation cost of shipping the car. And I cannot encourage enough that this car should be shipped only in an enclosed carrier - yes this gets expensive, but if the car is purchased at the price listed, I will help finance the shipping cost by $500-$750 depending on car's final destination. I do want this car to go to someone that will know "What They Got Here"! I will take payment of the car only by a wire transfer or bank cleared cashier's check - a down payment of $500 due through my PayPal account within 24 hours of the auction end. No Warranty - Sold As Is. Lastly, in addressing the Auto Check report issue, I spoke personally with one of their report personnel and he stated to me this does Not necessarily mean an accident or any kind of collision. He told me it could have meant a scratch, a window chip thing, It Is So unclear what they turn up - the original owner remembers nothing. And he adamantly said the car never was in the Brea, Ca. area. And I just my 2nd Carfax report that shows No Issues, which I can send out to anyone interested. That's all I can say about it. Call me with any questions from 9 AM-7 PM Central Time - My name is Randy.
