Here is my 2002 S500 for sale. I got it from the dealership the same day the previous owners traded it in. (old couple) I need to admit that the previous owners had neglect it at some points but I believe I took good care of it and bring it back to its glory days. Since this was my special car, I wasnt driving it so much but never let it sit more than 2 weeks without driving. I always enjoyed it so much anytime I drove it and never abused it. It is a great car to just isolate yourself from the world and drive it aimlessly. The reason i am selling it is that I need to move on and I already got couple project Mercedes-Benz's lined up. It had some rust but nothing major (typical Cleveland and NE Ohio...) It all adressed and fixed. It is great on snow and everything but since it is a pre 2003 car, it was before dip-priming method started for Mercedes-Benz so these cars hate salt. The second and last thing is the back catalytic converters are making a slight rattling noise. It has no effect on driving or performance of the engine. Since these cars has 4 catalytic converters (2 on each side) the first ones after manifold are the main ones (they are fine No Check Engine lights or error codes). These back ones are kind of a back up typical German over engineering.. I saw this problem in many same model cars that sit sometime and even some different same year Mercedes-Benz's. Due to their horizontal position, in cars that sit more than couple days at a time these tend to get condensation in them and the moisture weakens the structure inside and crack on couple points. this is the reason of the sound. It is annoying sometimes but when engine get warm it disappears mostly. Apparently the previous owner has dealt with this problem too since there are aftermarket back catalytic converters on it. I did some research and it shouldn't be a big expense unless you want to change the whole cat system all together with the first ones over at dealership. As I said there was no problems other than these two. Never missed any required services especially the oil changes! I mostly did all the services step by step by the book. I have a file full of stuff and documents that had been done by others. I have title in the hand. I also have all the original manuals too. Interior may need some light cleaning. I couldnt deeply clean it because of time issues... But it is a pleasant place to be. never ever smoked inside, i have a sensitive lungs so that was a plus for me and never let any one smoke in it. And lastly, I want it to go to a nice caring new home.
