Ultra Rare Carrossier Coach Builder Premium Cabriolet Mark V, #4 Of 8 Made, Southern Car71K original miles, 460 V8. From the research I've done most Mark V convertible conversions were done by Global Coach (Lucerne, 1978–1979), American Custom Coach (St Tropez, 1977–1979), a "no name" conversion by Hess & Eisenhardt in 1978 and a small number of hand crafted conversions by Carrossier Custom Coach Builders in Dallas, TX. Carrossier generally worked with higher end European cars and the difference shows. It's the highest quality conversion I've seen of a Mark V; it seems like a factory convertible. The convertible top frame and arms inside are chrome, the fender louvers are chromed (easy way to spot a Carrossier), and it's even got a working dome light built into the convertible top. From the information I could find on the web Carrosier only made 8 Mark V convertibles in 1978, the tag reads "Cabriolet Limited Edition 1978 # 004" and badged as a "L'Edition Limite". Here's a Wikipedia page on the conversions:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coach_convertible#Conversions_of_Ford_productsOptions include 460 V8, color coded "turbine" wheels, power vent windows, auto lamps and dimmer, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, AM/FM 8-Track, dual power bench seat, dual exhaust, "miles to empty" readout, Ziebart factory rustproofing (the small plastic "buttons" seen in the door jambs), and remote trunk release. The Lincoln was purchased from a gentleman who has owned it since 1984, it's been a Georgia car until last year. I apologize for the car being so dirty, I did not get a chance to wash her and the pix really don't do her justice. I should have nice full size shots up shortly. As seen in the gallery pix, I am also considering sale of my rare 1972 Mark IV, details below.Mechanical: The Lincoln has always been maintained on schedule and is registered and on the road. Recent work includes new brakes all around, new wide whitewalls, cruise control working, fixed the headlight doors which would open a few hours after the engine was turned off, now they stay closed even if parked for weeks. I've had a few Lincoln Mark V's and this one is by far the most enjoyable; all the luxury, power and craftsmanship of a full size 70's Lincoln coupe with the freedom of a convertible. The 70's Eldorado convertibles can't compare; despite its size, this is a true "driver's car". It handles incredibly well and the four wheel disc brakes are well matched to the car, she stops easily and quickly. Everything works as it should; the power window motors including power vent windows are quick and easy and both power seats work perfectly in all directions. The power top is a bit slow, the hydraulic fluid needs to be topped off. The a/c still has some R12 in the system, the compressor turns on and it blows light cool. Cruise control, auto lamps and auto dimming work fine.Cosmetics: The Lincoln still wears her original paint and she presents beautifully; no fading, nicks, scratches or dings anywhere. The interior is very nice, the seats, door panels, carpet and dash are all in excellent condition. The body is very straight, never hit or had any bodywork anywhere, the doors close easily (the last Mark V I had required a really hard slam or the doors would only partly latch) and the chrome and trim are bright, no pitting or fading anywhere. Everything lines up perfectly, which is great on a car with such straight body lines. The convertible top has a couple of small tears and the stitching is coming loose at the bottom of the back window. If preferred I can have have these repairs done before pickup, cost to be paid by buyer. Boot cover in excellent condition. The underside is close to spotless; the Ziebart rustproofing really kept these cars pristine, completely clean underneath. As I mentioned the Lincoln has spent most of its life down south and it's never been exposed to winter. She is a total blast to drive! The power from the 460 V8 is a pleasure, the last Mark I had came with the 400 V8 and the difference between the 400 and the 460 is substantial. Always starts easily, cruises nicely on the highway and brakes evenly with the four wheel disc brakes. She starts on the first try even in cold weather, idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. No leaks from anywhere, garage floor always dry when I pull her out. Only selling due to finances, this is one car I know I'll never replace. As you can see in the pix I'm also considering selling my ultra rare, triple black 1972 Mark IV, early 72 model with full grille. Fully optioned including dual power seats, cruise control, power front and rear windows, working a/c, power steel moonroof, "Sure-Track" (early ABS) and twilight sentinel. Upgrades include dual Magnaflow exhaust, high output distributor, Demon carburetor and KYB shocks all around. I am including all the original parts as well (carb, distributor, air filter, etc). Price is $12k or best offer. Dayton 20" wire wheels available for additional charge, original aluminum Lincoln wheels with good tires included. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Lincoln is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates.
