This has been my baby for a little more than 2 years. It has been restored to original condition ( like new ) minus the door edge guards and mud flaps. New gas tank, sending unit, belts, hoses, exhaust, battery, starter, solenoid, rebuilt window motors and door locks, radiator ( original style ) and things I am sure I've forgotten... Color is Champagne and the car was originally rustproofed when new. Original door jamb sticker as well as unleaded fuel only. Very beautiful car that I need to sell. It snaps necks as it is driven down the road. It comes with original window sticker and key chain and is one family owned as I acquired it out of an estate. If your looking for a car to love this one won't disappoint as people freak on this car.

Classic land yacht! Body and interior are immaculate. Only two previous owners, and the last was my Dad. All original except for the Kenwood CD player. Less than 100k original miles. Needs some simple AC work (compressor is fine), and I may have that done prior to sale. Tires, shocks, and brakes are recent. Full size spare, all manuals, and cover included. Cartier edition, tan with cinnamon velour interior and brown leather accents. She is just a pleasure to drive. You won't feel a thing, and the looks you get! I am regularly stopped for photos. And if you are wondering about the gas mileage, you do not deserve such a fine automobile.

Incredible, all original, 1979 Lincoln Mark V top of the line "Cartier" Designer Series. Elegant Desert Sand with matching leather interior trimmed in burgundy. Turbine Alloy Wheels, Full Power, 6 way reclining seats, factory CB built in to the 8 track Quadrasonic Stereo System, still has the booster on the power antenna - works! Runs and drives excellent - like floating on air. Odometer reading 66,000 miles, while I have no doubt this is actual, unfortunately I have no documentation to prove or disprove, and it is too old for a Carfax report. Everything on the car functions properly with these exceptions:Power door lock actuator on the passenger door is weak. Clock works but the hour hand is stuck on 9. Air conditioning compressor engages and A/C cools but not real cold. Still has the old 12 freon in it, and I will include a can of 12 I have, or you can choose to convert it to 134. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, don't know the age of the tires, but the tread is good and they're not cracking. Fly in, drive home. I can pick you up at Love Field (closest and Southwest's Hub) or DFW Airport (American's Hub) Texas Residents pay tax, title and lisc. The paint is original and in excellent condition. It rides on a matching set of Michelin XLE tires and is in excellent operational condition and CAN be used and driven anywhere. Maintained to high standards even the clock works. Several years ago, the exhaust system needed to be replaced. It was the original system and I worked with a local custom exhaust shop to have an exact duplicate created, right down to replacing both catalytic converters and reproducing the ground straps to match the factory installation. I even saved the factory part number plate from the original exhaust system. The only minor change I made was to remove the restrictor plates from the system. The exhaust shop recommended this change, being performance related, they explained to be that it would allow the system to flow better and improve power. It did increase performance and changed the exhaust note a bit. I did keep both of the plates and it would be a simple matter to have them reinstalled. I will leave that up to the new owner. The only other change I made was to upgrade the drivers side outside mirror to the 1978 style with the Thermometer. I will also include the original 1977 mirror so the new owner will have the option to have it reinstalled. More recently work includes: distributor replacement, drivers side window gear kit replaced, the antenna switch was rebuilt. Issues: The AC works but will need to be charged. The rear view mirror will have to be re-attached to the windshield. The headlights work only in high-beam mode. I believe the foot switch will need to be replaced. Condition: The car is Excellent and shows very well. I would judge it to rate a 2 to 2.5 on the Old Cars 5 point scale. Easily a "10 footer", in that from 10 feet it looks like new. The original paint shows no rust and the car was never in any accidents. Being an original 38 year old car, there are small flaws. Present are Drivers front fender scratch rear passenger side fender scratch. There is a fender touchup here. There are dings on the wheel well trim here and here. There are several touchup spots on the hood, here, here and here. The front edge of the hood has small areas of paint chips, here and here. There is a little chrome loss on the rear bumper around the cover. The front bumper trim is cracked at the center. The vinyl top has several condition issues. The seams are frayed, the vinyl top is torn, patched and some bubbling is present. The interior is original and in excellent condition. The arm rest is slightly discolored and plastic chrome trim around the drivers door panel is cracked here and here. The drivers arm rest is also cracked here. The chrome trim around the rear passenger side panel is cracked here and here and here. The dash top is almost like new. The dash face is also in excellent condition as is the wood trim and chrome. PLEASE do not let this picky description give the wrong impression, this is a wonderful car that runs and drives like new. Contact Information: If you are a serious buyer, please call. If I were buying a car I would certainly expect to call and chat with the owner, so please do so. I would also prefer, if at all possible, to arrange for a test drive. I understand that may not be possible so please at least call and ask for Ed so we can discuss your questions. I can be reached most days between the hours of 10:00am and 10:00pm USA Eastern Time at (727) 865-0208. If I am out, please leave a message and your call WILL be returned. OR if you prefer please contact me through eBay or email me at [email protected] I will discuss openly and honestly all the pros and cons of this automobile (as with all cars, it has both) however it is being sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. In addition, in purchasing this car, you agree to sign (as I will) a Bill Of Sale clearly stating that it being sold 'as-is with no warranty' and in the agreed upon sale amount. CARTIER CLOCK MYTH You can tell if it's a Cartier Edition by the clock on the instrument panel. If it says 'Cartier' on it, it's the Cartier Edition..." Right? WRONG! There are a lot of Continentals with Cartier clocks around. In fact, all of the Mark III, Mark IV and Mark V cars built during the seventies have the Cartier Chronometer and all Lincolns featured the Cartier clock beginning in 1975, including the Coupes and Sedans. The exception to this rule being early production 1969 Continental Mark III cars which have a standard clock in them. However, the fact that the clock bears the famous Cartier name alone does NOT make it a Cartier Edition. In fact, there wasn't a Cartier Edition Mark at all until 1976. So, here's what to look for: 1. The Cartier Edition was always identified by a specific combination of exterior paint, vinyl roof, pinstripe color, interior trim, and equipment. If all of these items are not present, the car is not a Cartier. 2. The Cartier signature appears in the Opera Window. 3. A 22-karat Gold plated dash plaque is mounted on the instrument panel that identifies the car as a Cartier Edition. This plaque was provided to the original owner to engrave his or her name on it, so it's possible subsequent owners may have altered or removed it. In this case a prior owner removed the plaque, but I do have it and it goes with the car. Uninformed individuals may unwittingly try to pass off a Mark or Lincoln as a Cartier Edition, but now you'll know better. That's why we're here... Model History: First there was the original Continental. One of the most beautiful cars ever built. What can could follow in its footsteps? The Mark II. A classic in every sense of the word. How do you top the Mark II? With the 1969 Mark III. How do you better the Mark III? You create the Mark IV, which finally serves notice to Cadillac that Lincoln is number one in the personal luxury field. With the Mark IV outselling Cadillac's Eldorado each year, how do you improve on that? With a Mark of tradition. The Mark V. Big luxury cars were on their way out when the Mark V was introduced in 1977. Ford had already downsized the Thunderbird, and it was about to have its best sales year ever in 1977. Lincoln decided to maintain the full size of its personal luxury offering for 1977, with a new engine to provide improved fuel economy. Lincoln's decision was a correct one. The Mark V set a new sales record for the year. This was in spite of the increasing cost of fuel, and the luxury import market gaining acceptance with U.S. buyers. A handsome car in its day, the V’s elegant and crisp lines have stood the test of time making it a period piece that still turns heads now. Produced for only three model years, many collectors consider it as recognizable an icon today as a 1955-57 Ford Thunderbird, a 1964-66 Mustang, a 1968-70 Dodge Charger (Dukes of Hazzard), even a 1995-97 Ferrari F50…all vehicles with three-year model runs also. More then just an evolution of the Mark IV, Ford Motor Company designer Don DeLaRossa reflected in 2003 Collectible Automobile Magazine about the Mark Vs development in the 1970s. “The starting point for the Mark V was an alternate design proposal for the Mark IV that had been championed by Gene Bordinat, corporate styling vice president. Bordinat didn’t like the Mark IV design he approved for production. We extended those lines of the Mark IV, straightened them, and kept them flowing….Gale Halderman (head of Lincoln-Mercury design studio at the time) said taillamp blades that wrapped over into the rear fender tops were considered until they proved unpopular in market research.”. All of the sheet metal was new. The Mark V was squared off, more angular in its appearance. The interiors were quite similar, with the Mark V showing just a few updates from its predecessor. The Mark V retained all of the classic features necessary to identify it: the modified Rolls Royce grille, the concealed headlights, opera windows, simulated spare tire cover, etc. The sales brochure stated the new Mark was "Boldly contemporary...yet reassuringly compatible with traditions evolving from the first Continental..." Functional front fender louvers were a styling refinement that helped cool the engine compartment, and were the only new styling feature introduced for 1977, as the new vertical tail lamps had been a styling feature of the 1969-1971 Mark III series. About 400 pounds lighter then the prior model performance improved with the now optional 460 cid 4V engine. The weight difference did not affect the smooth, quiet ride. The Mark V is a huge piece of machinery, albeit a desirable one in terms of potential value. It is the last of a breed and has sufficient quality and style to assure eventual classic status It is entirely likely that, in 10 years, the owners of such cars will discover that they have a piece of collectible automotive machinery. The Mark V is the pinnacle of 60 years of automotive definitions...." The base price of the 1977 Mark V base price was $11,396, including the options of the car being offered ($4,354) provides an approx sticker price of $15,750 That is almost $62,000 in 2015!
