And with either the standard or the available air suspension, the ride is glassy-smooth and absorbent. The 2008 Lexus LS 460 offers some of the most advanced technology features of any vehicle. The available LEXUS PREMIUM sound system has 19 speakers and 450 watts, and it comes with 8GB of hard-drive space for MP3s. There's even a self-parking feature that steers the LS 460 into a parallel or row parking spot as the driver backs up; some will find it helpful, but to others it's a gimmick. Climate-controlled (heated and cooled) front and rear seats are another desirable option. The 2008 460 is available in two body styles, including the manageably sized LS 460 and the long-wheelbase LS 460 L, which stretches the backseat area five inches, to limousine-like dimensions--possibly appealing to those who have others do the driving. There's also a hybrid flagship model, the LS 600h L, which we cover in a separate review. Luxury, comfort, and high-tech features are the focus in the 2008 Lexus LS 460; thus, it should have satisfying performance for buyers who are considering this rather reserved big sedan. A 380-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission--the world's first--and drives the rear wheels. The engine is one of the smoothest and best isolated of any vehicle, and it has plenty of torque to move the LS 460 with authority. However, the transmission's indecision on congested freeways and gradual grades lessened the enjoyment. Inside and out, the 2008 Lexus LS 460 is very conservatively styled. With an organic and elegant L-finesse design language that doesn't rely on gimmicky details, the LS will likely age well. The interior is quite attractive in its simplicity, with a two-tiered dash and contrasting materials that are soft to the touch. The only downside is that some of the switchgear mimics that used in much cheaper Lexus models. Front seats are ample and comfortable, though not as supportive as they could be, but a very wide center console makes the seating area feel unexpectedly narrow. In back, there's adequate room even for tall and lanky adults with the LS 460, while the LS 460 L has room for legs to sprawl. And with either the standard or the available air suspension, the ride is glassy-smooth and absorbent. The 2008 Lexus LS 460 offers some of the most advanced technology features of any vehicle. The available LEXUS PREMIUM sound system has 19 speakers and 450 watts, and it comes with 8GB of hard-drive space for MP3s. There's even a self-parking feature that steers the LS 460 into a parallel or row parking spot as the driver backs up; some will find it helpful, but to others it's a gimmick. Climate-controlled (heated and cooled) front and rear seats are another desirable option. The L version includes dual rear climate controls and a system that checks actual body surface temperatures with infrared technology. The insurance industry rated the LS 460 "Excellent" in its frontal offset test, but it only earned a "marginal" rating in the IIHS seat-based rear-impact test. The 2008 Lexus LS 460 has a multilayered list of safety features, including standard front side airbags, dual front knee bags, and full-length side curtain bags, plus available rear-seat side airbags. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, a more advanced version of electronic stability control, is standard, and an available Pre-Collision System (PCS) works with the available laser cruise control to prepare vehicle safety systems if it anticipates a collision. I wanted something my two young kids would love and enjoy when they are in the car. I hit it on the head. First my local dealers could not find on( Fact my two local dealers told my they have NEVER SEEN this car in person my one sales person worked for Lexus for 17 years my other 14 years neither one NEVER came across this car. But I wanted it so I search for a while and found one in Texas not to long ago I ran the car fax it was clean I bought it and had it shipped in a close truck to my home where it is kept in my garage) . Now to give you some fun facts about the back. First this car is bigger than the Lexus LS. Which is Lexus biggest car ever made this is an LSL. The back is like a Limo. The back seats recline, they have both heated and cooling rear seats, and there is a cool box which holds 9 small bottles of water which stay Ice cold. There is a TV with a DVD player with a remote control. In the back they can work the GPS or navigation the dvd and the stereo etc. The rear has its own filtration air system that takes its own Air filter. Front has another air filter total separate from the rear. The rear of the car can pretty much operate everything there is. Screens on all the rear windows. I’m sure I’m leaving something out. This is the TRUTH!! I do not want to sell this car it would easily last over another hundred thousand miles. I bought this car on EBAY around 9 months ago. I was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis around 2 months and I cannot get in and out of a car without screaming in pain( there is no blood going to my hips I am at Stage 3 there are 5 stages both of my hips are Dead and I need a double Total hip replacement) I need an SUV. So I do not have to bend getting in an automobile. I said to my wife this is the best car I has ever owned and I will never sell this car because I tend to not keep cars long. But when I get better I will look for the same thing again (I will most likely not find one it is a Launch Edition by Neiman Marcus. I just checked the mileage it was 98,000 miles on the car that comes out to an average 14,000 miles a year I just checked the oil the oil is spotless but it is coming up on oil change so before I send the car out to anyone I will have the oil changed I also purchased very expensive but fantastical window wipers they are the best you can buy also there are rain X on all the windows including the side windows and the outside mirrors and I have rain X wiper blades and rain X windshield fluid in the car. And it was just washed and waxed fully detailed less than a month ago I lent the car to my friend and in return he had the car detail as a thank you to me.
