Exterior Slanted rear roof pillars give the IS 300 a semi-fastback profile, and there is little front or rear overhang on the sharp-edged body. The overall length of 177 inches puts the compact-size IS 300 in the same ballpark as the 3 Series sedan and about a foot shorter than the ES 300. The standard wheels and tires are 16 inches in diameter, and 17-inchers are optional. Interior A chronograph-style instrument cluster that Lexus describes as "inspired by sport watches" mounts three smaller gauges within a large speedometer. However, the gauges are so small they are hard to read. A separate tachometer sits to the left and a fuel gauge to the right. Automatic climate control, a stereo with cassette and CD players, heated outside mirrors and remote keyless entry are standard. Lexus says the IS 300 holds five, but the three-place rear seat is divided by the driveline tunnel, so two is the practical limit. A pass-through section from the rear seat to the 10-cubic-foot trunk allows carrying long items. Under the Hood The 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine is the same one used in the larger GS 300 sedan, though it is rated 10 horsepower less at 215 in the IS 300. The engine teams with a five-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel controls that allow manual gear changes. Lexus says it will add a manual transmission in the future. Side-impact airbags for the front seats, antilock brakes and traction control are standard. Driving Impressions More chiseled styling gives the IS 300 a meaner, hungrier look than the luxury-oriented ES 300. Instead of stressing quietness, luxury and comfort, the IS 300 offers crisper handling, quicker acceleration, and more road and engine noise.

Hello, The time has finally come to part ways with this car. I get questions and numerous emails all the time asking about the car and how the swap was done. If you ask anyone who has done research or put any thought into doing an engine swap to an IS250, they will tell you just how hard and complicated something like this is to complete. This project required extensive fabrication and wiring far beyond anything most people could imagine. It is the only 2nd gen IS250 in the United States with this motor swap (from what I know). Out of all (which is very few I believe) of the engine swaps done on the Lexus IS platform, I believe this car retains the most OEM functionality. The car was built by Lance Ho Lung from Toyomoto and took almost three years to complete. Being that Lance is my father and that the car is still in the family, no one else has ever worked on or tampered with this car but myself or my father. I believe this is also partly the reason why nobody else has replicated the engine swap yet. Features such as the factory smart-key FOB system, A/C, power windows, and the digital read out display within the factory gauge cluster all work on this car. This car also still retains the original Electronic Power Steering and uses Drive-by-Wire. Working features also include the paddle shifters, and cruise control as well. The only thing that does not function is VSC (vehicle stability control). Since I took over driving the car, it currently sits at home in the garage and is driven a couple times for the month either by either myself or my dad. It runs on E85 ethanol and makes over 600HP. The car has a front-mounted transmission cooler, and the computer closes the throttle between up-shifts so that the transmission lasts without problems. As with any highly powered automatic transmission car, the transmission should also be serviced properly. It is serviced/flushed (not just drained and filled) every 10k miles with 18qts of fluid with ONLY Toyota Type T-IV transmission fluid. This is the only transmission fluid you can run in this transmission (as far as I know) as this fluid has unique friction properties. This is another reason it can last with this much power. Over the past year and half, I have put on wheels, coilover suspension, upgraded the brakes, in addition to other cosmetic and performance upgrades just to make the car stand out and look special. This is a special car to me and I really hope it goes to a good home and continues to be well taken care of.
