Featuring uncluttered sheetmetal, the GS 300 has a long hood, a very short rear deck and wide tapered C-pillars that flow back to the rear of the car. Long side glass and a steep back window enhance the GS 300's performance image. The sedan's dimensions have grown: Overall length is slightly greater at 190 inches, its width is fractionally larger at 71.7 inches, the rear track width is an inch bigger, and the wheelbase has grown to 112.2 inches. Aluminum wheels hold 17-inch tires. Installed is a moonroof and a power rear sunshade. Five occupants fit inside the GS 300, which features leather-trimmed seats. Heated front seats are standard, and fan ventilation is installed. Premium wood and both polished and leather accents round out the upscale cabin. A Smart Access keyless entry system includes new push-to-start ignition, and the new gauge cluster features aluminum faces. A variable transparency lens reduces glare on the gauges on sunny days. A power tilt/telescoping steering wheel is installed. Hidden panels to the left of the steering wheel hold infrequently used controls. A 7-inch dashboard screen can works with the installed navigation system. A 10-speaker sound system is standard. Trunk space totals 12.7 cubic feet. A 3.0-liter V-6 produces 245 hp at 6,200 rpm and 230 pounds-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. The new six-speed-automatic transmission includes Power, Normal and Snow modes. The RX 400h's appearance differs only modestly from the regular RX 330. Styling revisions include round fog lamps and an additional opening on the front bumper fascia for cooling powertrain components. The RX 400h is an inch longer than the RX 330 and weighs 300 pounds more. The RX 400h's five-passenger seating and interior space are similar to the RX 330's. However, brushed aluminum trim is used only on the RX 400h. Rather than the usual tachometer, the dashboard contains an illuminated battery-power meter. The steering wheel contains controls for the hybrid system's monitor and the stereo. The backseat has been raised 0.7 inch to accommodate the battery pack underneath. Thirty battery modules are split into three groups, each with a dedicated cooling fan. Combining a 208-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 and electric motor-generators, the second-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain generates 268 hp total. A continuously variable transmission sends that energy to the wheels. The full-hybrid system can operate in gas or electric mode, as well as a combination of both. Lexus says the gas engine starts at a lower power level, which makes the transition between power sources harder to discern. Antilock brakes incorporate electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Side curtain-type airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags and a driver's knee airbag are installed. An Adaptive Front lighting System can swivel in accord with the front wheels to better light curves in the road. We have owner manuals and one key for this car.
