The Land Rover Defender 90 model was introduced in 1984 where the 90 represented the wheelbase in inches. The two-door Land Rover Defender 90 was sold for 1994, 1995 and 1997. (Emissions requirements and low sales resulted in no 1996 model.) There were two body styles available. The convertible came with a standard second-row bench seat and a choice of a full soft top (with roll-up side windows), fastback soft top, "Bikini" half top or no top at all. The hardtop body style debuted in 1995 featuring an aluminum roof with pop-up sunroof, an internal/external "safari cage" and four center-facing rear seats. The latter allowed this relatively small vehicle to seat up to six people. Our 1997 Defender 90 features the stock 4.0L V8 engine and automatic transmission but that is where the stock list ends. A recent full restoration makes this defender 90 stand out from the crowd. Most notable improvements are a new custom silver paint job and white diamond stitch black leather interior seating. A Kahn Design front grill was painted to match the body and all running lights have been upgraded to LED. Originally spec'd for six seats the design was later change to a four seat configuration. The additional two rear jump seats will be included in the sale of the vehicle. Other recent improvements include a custom installed Pioneer App Radio (touchscreen) head unit and JL audio speakers. The vehicle also includes a Borla exhaust system, Kahn wheels and BFGoodrich All-terrain tires. Sold with the vehicle will also be a brand new Bestop black soft top. This D90 was converted to a 2.8L Navistar Turbo Diesel in April of 2003 by Jim Pennington. At that time, the ARB air lockers and suspension upgrades were done as well. It performs very well both on and off road, and always returns in the mid 20 mpg range. It is equipped with many upgrades, as the pics show.
