What you are looking at is a 1981 CJ7 that a friend of mine had as a low mileage, stock, heavy optioned Jeep. Factory V-8 4-speed, Roadster Doors, and fully removable top. About 7 years ago, he had installed a full lift kit, Poison Spider body kit, winch, big tires and wheels, a custom Harley Davidson themed interior, quick ratio power steering box, new instrument cluster, full A/C update, full Bestop Top, as well as a bunch of mechanical servicing and lots of detail parts. Shortly after the vehicle was completed and after very few miles of driving he developed major health issues, and about five years ago died. His brother in law stored the vehicle inside and started it up every few weeks for a while, but eventually it came to be stored outside, and not started. About six months ago, the brother in law asked me to get it going again, so I flushed the fuel system, replaced the carburetor with a correct rebuilt carb, changed the oil and fluids, put a rebuilt master cylinder on it, new battery, and got it running and driving. He was not planning on keeping it, so I worked a deal with him and titled the vehicle in my name. I have driven it a little, it runs well, has cold A/C, and gets a lot of "thumbs up" when I have it out. Here is what's good: * Factory loaded with V-8 and all the heavier duty stuff that goes with it; * A/C works, starts, stops, steers and is "together" like a good old Jeep should be; * Poison Spider kit is cool, lift kit and big wheels are the Jeep thing; * Original cost of the updates alone are about what I'm asking for the whole truck; * Clean, ready to transfer title. Here is what is not so good: * Vehicle has been hardly used for a lot of years. Tires, while showing no wear, are at least 7 years old, and I would consider replacing them if I was going to drive high speeds; * Vehicle will probably need some additional "sorting" once its driven regularly, such as gas gauge, instrument lights and such. I would consider a modern electronic ignition too; * The paint overall is good, but the top of the hood and front fenders are sun faded and will probably have to be re-painted; * Vehicle appears to be rust and dent free, but does have a little bubbling in the windshield frame, where I am told they all rust. I am not a car salesman, and would prefer to have a person actually look at it before they buy it. If you buy it and send a deposit, and come here to look at it and don't want it, I will return your deposit. If it is paid for and leaves my property, the sale is final. Contact me if you have additional questions or want more information. This vehicle is for sale locally too, and I reserve the right to sell it to the first buyer.
