This 1979 CJ5 offers a V8 power, cool colors, and a nice restoration to a largely stock specification, making it fairly rare in its own right, but that doesn't mean it isn't capable of going into some pretty gnarly territory all by itself. The Golden Eagle package dressed up the CJ in great '70s fashion, with bright colors and plenty of decals, and this black and gold one looks fantastic. I wonder if the Jeep designers ever heard from the guys over at Pontiac once this Jeep hit the streets, but I suppose that was the fashion and it's a look that is suddenly very much back in demand. The glossy black paint is modern urethane so it shines up nicely after a day of playing in the dirt, and while Jeeps were never renowned for their fit and finish, this one looks great. The decals are very nicely done, accurately replicating the original look and they didn't skimp, because even the pinstripes were accurately re-created. New black rubber fender flares cover the oversized tires and it includes correct little details like side marker lights, proper Jeep taillights, and a chrome front bumper with an industrial-strength grille guard. There's a matching tubular rear bumper and a pair of diamond-plate steps that make it easy to climb into the tall Jeep cockpit. Recently installed tan seat covers anchor the nicely appointed interior. The same black paint used on the body covers every unfinished interior surface, including the dash, and the floors are covered in plush black carpets, which make the Jeep feel luxurious even in its alfresco state. There's also a stock rear bench for a pair of friends, and the same centrally-located Jeep gauges in the dash that have been a Jeep trademark for decades. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo with speakers mounted in special enclosures in the rear seat area and the fat Grant steering wheel feels great in your hands. The 4-speed manual transmission is managed by a Hurst T-handle shifter and both shifters have new boots. Back floor mats give the carpets a bit of protection from dirt and wear, and while there's no top, the padded roll bar looks great and offers protection if worse comes to worst. AMC's reliable 304 cubic inch V8 is all about torque and virtually indestructible, and driving through a 4-speed manual gearbox and a two-speed transfer case it will go just about anywhere. It's rare to see a V8 Jeep and it looks great under the hood with fresh engine enamel, a new Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold and air cleaner, and a throaty dual exhaust system that sounds pretty darned good. The brakes have been upgraded with a modern master cylinder. Of course, with a body off restoration, the frame was totally accessible during the build, so it received new satin black paint, undercoating for sound and debris protection, and upgrades like a lift kit and new shocks. The exhaust system uses side pipes, so it has a rather un-traditional V8 rumble, and despite the big tires and lift kit, it actually rides well for such a short wheelbase vehicle. New aluminum wheels are a great choice on a flashy Jeep and wear fat 33.5x14.50R15 Super Swamper off-road radials. Go ahead, have some fun, this Jeep was built for it. Nicely rebuilt with lots of top-shelf gear, it represents perhaps the ultimate way to have fun on four wheels in the great outdoors. This nut-and-bolt restored 1982 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler is proof of concept thirty years ago, and is dressed in a bright red color scheme that works perfectly with the hot-rod Jeep's burly 350 cubic inch V8 living under the hood. With this 4x4, you can go anywhere, carry everything, and do it in a hurry, all with the confidence of having what might be the nicest Scrambler in the country! The CJ8 was a longer version of the CJ7, which had both the benefit of increasing cargo capacity and improving the on-road ride. Only a handful were built during six years of production, and the numbers in 1982 didn't even break 3000, so finding one this nice today is quite unexpected. It has been neatly maintained and refinished as needed during its life, and the paint it wears today has an awesome look that is a lot flashier than you'd expect for 1982, but works extremely well today. The doors and hood fit well, Scrambler decals have been reinstalled, and there's a removable hardtop for all-weather comfort. This Jeep also features a gray spray-in bedliner in the cargo bay (it's strictly a two-seater) and aggressive rubber flares for the fenders which allow oversized tires and protect the bodywork when you're off road. A grille guard, simple chrome bumper, a roll bar, a rear-mounted spare, and stake sides on the bed give it a no-nonsense look that suits it well. Like all CJs, the CJ8 Scrambler is basic inside, catering to the guy who understands that playing outside is a dirty affair. Fortunately, comfort and simplicity can live together in the form of supportive black vinyl bucket seats over a floor painted to match the bodywork. Have fun, get dirty, hose it all off and do it again, it's the Jeep way. Aftermarket Auto Meter gauges work with the stock speedometer in the center of the dash, where it's lived for decades, but there is no radio, which shouldn't be a surprise; you're not going to miss it. An aftermarket center console provides some weatherproof storage and a pair of cup holders (good luck with those on the trail!), and there's a grab bar for passengers. You'll also note there are only two pedals on the floor and a column-mounted shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission, a relatively rare option but fully correct for the CJ8. To go with its added size, this CJ8 Scrambler carries reliable Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 under the squared-off hood. With plenty of torque to move this 4x4 over any terrain, it makes pleasant V8 noises and is the perfect partner to the automatic transmission, making climbing around off-road a low-stress proposition. Nicely detailed with an Edelbrock chrome dress-up kit, fresh red plug wires and distributor cap, and an overall clean look that suggests careful maintenance since it was restored, and it probably hasn't hit the trails yet. It also offers power steering and brakes to help out when the going gets tough, and a soundtrack provided by a new exhaust system underneath. Manual-locking hubs provide the ultimate in reliability and traction, and the undercarriage shows the results of a full frame-off restoration that was finished not too long ago. Will you even have the courage to take this one into the dirt? Big Mickey Thompson aluminum slots have a butch look and carry oversized 33x12.5-15 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires. A neat footnote in Jeep history that's suddenly back in fashion, this Scrambler is also a great collectable that can still go anywhere, and you just won't find a nicer one than this. From the relative rarity of the body style to the thumping ultra-clean engine bay, this well-done, frame-off restored 4x4 is the Jeep that everyone's going to be talking about out on the trail. Stretching a CJ7 into a mini pickup truck was a clever idea that never quite caught on, making it rather unusual to see a Scrambler today. And what you almost never see are Scramblers restored to this level, making it almost too pretty to risk out in the rough. The bright orange paint gives it a brilliant, almost iridescent look and even with the squared-off bodywork, it's pretty slick. Underneath, the sheetmetal is in great shape with no signs of the usual tin worm issues that can plague these cool little trucklets, and it's been carefully assembled so the fit is better than you'd expect. Scrambler is spelled out on the hood, as if you needed that to know what this is, and it has accessories like chrome bumpers, a matching grille and hinges, and a spare tire hanging off the tailgate in back. The roll bar has been neatly wrapped in tailored pads and the bed itself is covered in spray-on bedliner material, so it's tough enough for anything you can fit in there. When you're heading out with all your gear, THIS is the truck that everyone's going to wish they owned. Thoroughly freshened, the interior is more 21st century than many of this Jeep's peers. High-back buckets are awesome for crawling over rough terrain, holding you in place while being comfortable enough for all-day drives. The floor is lined with the same spray-in bedliner material used out back, so it's low maintenance and you can just about hose it out when you get home. A center console adds security and that upholstery just looks cool in a '70s kind of way. Other desirable features include a tilt column, a chrome gauge panel, and Jeep-logo floor mats. The other gauges are in excellent shape, including the tach nestled into the dash next to the steering wheel. A brand new bikini top and half doors are included, along with a rear bench seat that makes this a legitimate 4-seater that can still carry a decent load of cargo at the same time. The 258 cubic inch inline-six under the hood pretty much guarantees there's no mountain you can't climb. Legendary for its reliability and easy torque production, this is the engine that made the CJ series famous. It's impressively clean and well detailed under the hood, suggesting that it's never seen really dirty trails and a few chrome dress-up pieces and an oversized radiator are welcome additions. Long-tube headers help the six breathe a little better and give it a snarky exhaust note thanks to a Flowmaster muffler in back. The 4-speed shifter is a lot of fun to row through the gears and a heavy-duty suspension gives it the ground clearance to really articulate over the terrain. You'll be impressed by how tidy it is underneath, so clean that you'll have second thoughts about using it as intended. Those huge BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires are brand new and wrap around handsome aluminum wheels that are the perfect complement to the show-stopping orange paint. Highly visible and capable, this has got to be one of the best Scramblers in the world. Try building one to this level and you'll find that the asking price is a screaming bargain. Vehicles like this ultra-clean 1981 CJ7 have been a staple of having fun in the mud for decades, and even with all of today's technology and performance, they're still the vehicle to beat when the trail truly turns against you. Finding an all-steel CJ that hasn't been bashed to death on the rocks or eaten alive by the tinworm is no easy task, yet this black Laredo shows off its original bodywork with pride. Sure, it's probably been off-roading a few times in its life, but nobody has abused this Jeep, and with only 21 miles on the frame-off restoration, you know it hasn't seen any heavy use since it was finished. The rockers are protected by shiny panels, and the brilliant yellow paint has a great shine that will be easy to clean. With basic panels and soft doors, there aren't really any panel gaps to align, but the hood snugs down easily with those chrome latches, and the drop-down tailgate shows zero signs of rust. Simple chrome bumpers have been fitted so as to be both light and effective, and the traditional Jeep grille nestled between those fat fenders is protected by a polished stainless steel grille. Rubber fender flares cover the oversized tires and keep the mudslinging to a minimum, and you'll probably want to lower the windshield for the full frontal experience. Rounding out the package are fresh Laredo decals and a stripe kit, accurately re-creating 1982 and to be honest, it looks great, not dated. Inside, it's rugged and basic, with black vinyl and cloth high-back bucket seats designed to be cleaned with a hose. The floor has been covered with spray-in bedliner material for the same reason, but that doesn't mean the CJ is bereft of comfort and convenience features; in fact, this might be one of the more luxurious CJs we've seen. There's a full array of gauges, which are critical when you're out in the wilderness, a center console for valuables, and a full back seat for a pair of guests to ride along. The two levers on the floor manage the 5-speed manual gearbox, which totally transforms the CJ's on-road behavior, as well as the shifter for the 2-speed transfer case, which is the core of any Jeep's off-road abilities. There is no top, but if you're asking for one, you're doing the whole Jeep thing completely wrong. Power comes from AMC's durable and torquey 258 cubic inch inline-six, which was definitely the powerplant you want in your CJ. It isn't designed for all-out speed, but it's plenty snappy around town and for off-roading, what you really want is a smooth flow of power (which this engine delivers), good low-speed torque (in spades), and bulletproof reliability (check). It hasn't been modified and was obviously nicely detailed during the restoration, and the engine rebuilt during the restoration. Underneath, it's extremely solid with the aforementioned 5-speed manual transmission, 2-speed transfer case, and an AMC 20 rear axle and a Dana 30 up front, all of which make this CJ highly maneuverable in the brush. The suspension was lifted with a mild shackle kit and the exhaust system has a hearty rumble, which always makes folks do a double-take when they hear it coming from a Jeep. It's shockingly clean underneath, nicely detailed, and sits right on those giant 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. If you're looking for adventure, this is the vehicle that'll get you there. Awesome colors, a great pedigree, and lots of recent work all add up to a Jeep that's easy to love. So if you're one of those guys who insists that the best Jeep of all went out of production thirty years ago, then this 1979 CJ7 delivers that old-school 4x4 experience with a traditional desert paint job that's about six different kinds of cool. The look is unmistakable, from the round headlights flanking the upright 7-bar grille, to the open doors to the roll bar behind the front seats. The paint is fresh, done in a matte-finish desert tan using single-stage urethane so it's easy to maintain and black decals on the hood give it a military-spec vibe. There's no rust in the usual spots above the rear wheel wells, and diamond plate trim along the rockers and on the rear corners makes it nearly bulletproof off-road. The paint is good, but no so perfect that you'll be afraid to take it out and have some fun in the dirt, and it wears correct rubber fender flares for the oversized tires. Other upgrades include a custom front bumper with brush guard, two additional driving lights, and tubular step bumpers that make it easy to climb aboard. The rear bumper is a matching tubular unit and there's a heavy-duty spare tire carrier out back with a full-sized fifth wheel and tire assembly, just in case. Inside, if you can touch it, it's new. The high-back buckets wear fresh seat covers, there's a weatherproof, lockable center console, and rubber floors that can be hosed out after a day of fun. That Grant GT steering wheel looks a lot nicer than anything we've seen in a stock CJ, and it fits well and feels great in your hands. Even the single round speedometer shows crisp markings and a bright pointer, and recent auxiliary gauges were added just to its right. An AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that sounds good out on the trail and there are some heavy-duty floor mats underfoot. The removable hard top, bikini top, and half doors are all in excellent condition and show very little wear since they were installed. The 258 cubic inch inline-six was AMC's workhorse, making plenty of torque and so reliable that it would get you home from just about anywhere the Jeep would take you. You'd think that a Jeep would spend a lot of time in the dirt, but the ultra-clean engine bay says otherwise. The hardware is rugged as hell, simple, and easy to service, with a heavy-duty air cleaner for off road fun and a big radiator for low-speed operation without any worries. This one is neatly detailed with bright red paint on the air cleaner and valve cover, and both power steering and power brakes are part of the package. A 3-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case allow this Jeep to practically idle up the side of a hill, and with a heavy-duty off-road suspension it's highly capable in the rough stuff. New wiring certainly helps in the reliability department, and the frame and undercarriage is ultra-solid with no evidence of abuse. Black painted steel wheels look sharp against the fresh tan paint and wear recent radials that are a nice combination of capability and comfort. So if you're an old-school Jeep lover, you won't find a cleaner, fresher CJ7 than this. With a bunch of smart upgrades, it's ready to have fun in the sun. With a recent and thorough restoration and trail-rated hardware, it's ready to do some serious off-roading, and you just can't beat that old-school look and anvil-like durability that the CJ7 brings. We're finally getting to the point where these CJs are legitimate collector's items, but you'll probably discover that very few are finished to this level. The shape is unmistakable, especially with the doors and top removed, and thanks to a new black paint job and a set of authentic Renegade decals installed just a short time ago, it looks incredible. Thanks to professional workmanship throughout, it feels tight and fits together quite well, and while a lot of these CJs led hard lives, this one has obviously been taking it easy since the work was completed. Heck, some Jeep guys might scoff at how bright and shiny this one is, especially with the chrome grille and bumpers, but nobody will argue that this isn't a great-looking off-roader. Add in the brutal-looking tubular bumpers and massive spare tire hanging off the back, and it looks to be ready for just about anything. Inside, this one is almost too nice to venture into the dirt, with beautiful high-back buckets with handsome black seat covers and a matching rear bench. There's also a useful center console with storage and cup holders, and a pair of nice-fitting rubber floor mats over the floors, which are wearing black carpets for a more upscale and luxurious feel than you're accustomed to in an open Jeep. The original gauges look good in their shiny stainless instrument panel, and they're joined by a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit. There's also a tilt steering column and custom steering wheel which make it feel far more sophisticated than you'd expect. This Jeep also includes a bikini top for emergencies or days when the sun is just too hot, while there's a matching black hardtop and steel doors for truly inclement weather. Wouldn't this make an awesome daily driver? In 1984, most Jeeps carried the 4.2 liter inline-six, whose torque output and reliability are the stuff of legends. This one was fully rebuilt less than 2 years ago during the restoration, with a custom carburetor and air cleaner and a clean finned valve cover up top added to complete the look. MSD provided the ignition system and there are recent hoses and belts to make it reliable. Power steering is probably mandatory with those giant tires and it carries front disc brakes that make stopping drama-free. The chassis is in excellent condition, including the 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case, and much of the hardware looks to have been recently serviced. New beefy off-road shocks manage a full lift kit, which provides plenty of ground clearance for some pretty hairy rock-crawling with room for those giant 33x12.50-15 off-road radials on polished ICW aluminum wheels. A muscle car for the dirt? You'd better believe it. Not many CJs get restored to this level, so when you find one this nice, don't hesitate. With just 36,067 original miles, this handsome black wagon is both supremely capable and totally traditional in the most American way possible: wood paneling. Except for maybe a few PT Cruisers, the Grand Wagoneer was probably the last US-made vehicle to feature wood paneling on its flanks. It looks right, giving the upscale Jeep a country club demeanor and a traditional look that goes all the way back to the earliest woodies. Sure, it's pure style, but what isn't these days? And with so few miles, this Grand Wagoneer is in fantastic condition with glossy black paint that's one of the most popular colors today. The woodgrained decals are in excellent condition with no peeling or fading and aside from some of those inevitable polishing marks in the black paint, it looks far younger than 25 years old. The shape dates to the 1960s, but with chrome bumpers, a hood ornament, a big grille, and stainless window surrounds, the biggest Jeep was able to move upscale and realistically be mentioned in the same breath as the Range Rover. It doesn't appear to have ever been wrecked or rusty and the doors close with a remarkably precise feel, a rare feat for anything built by AMC. The rugged exterior contrasts neatly with the handsome burgundy cloth and leather interior, which is as plush as a contemporary Cadillac and loaded with luxury features. There's plenty of room in the spacious cabin, so road trips are a genuine pleasure, and with such niceties as power windows, locks, and seats, cruise control, a tilt wheel, and A/C (which could use a recharge), it won't ever feel like you're "roughing it" in this Grand Wagoneer. The seats are in excellent condition with only slight comfort marks on the leather portions of the outer bolsters and the back seat looks almost completely untouched. Plush carpets are a bit faded, which is inevitable with anything red, but they're in good condition and help keep the inside of the Grand Wagoneer quiet and comfortable. An AM/FM/cassette stereo system dates the truck but works rather well and you get a full dash full of analog instruments that are easy to read. The rear compartment is positively huge and beautifully tailored with stainless rub strips to protect the carpet. AMC's biggest V8, a 360 cubic incher topped with a 2-barrel carburetor, was standard equipment. Its specifications may seem modest, but it's incredibly torquey and doesn't mind crawling around in the dirt. It has a hushed exhaust note befitting its upscale luxury mission and it has proven its durability inside Jeeps for decades. It's nicely maintained and runs well, and a tune-up would probably make it so smooth you couldn't feel it running. It's definitely clean under the hood and under the body, showing no signs of winter weather or harsh off-road conditions, and thanks to a recent exhaust system, it sounds just right. Jeep's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system was way ahead of most of the competition in 1990, with a 3-speed automatic transmission and a set of 2.72 gears, so it's a great highway cruiser. Handsome alloy wheels are a familiar look and they're wrapped in 235/75/15 whitewall radials for just the right upscale look. You'll note that prices on good Grand Wagoneers are skyrocketing. There's a finite supply of good, low-mileage units like this, and we'll wager that this one won't last long at all. V8-powered, lifted, and full of heavy-duty components, you don't have to worry about playing rough with this Jeep, which is exactly what it was designed to do. The fact that it also looks awesome is simply icing on the cake. When you really look at it, there's really not much to the CJ5. A basic body tub with doors that are entirely optional, minimalist fenders that really only satisfy the letter of the law, and a hood that still latches itself down with spring-loaded hooks like those on a 1920s Model T. But really, that's the appeal, a simple, rugged machine that can go anywhere, and the fact that it looks so good doing it is a tribute to the quality of the whole concept. Of course, painting it a handsome shade of burgundy definitely helps and this particular CJ doesn't seem to suffer from the usual spots of rust around the wheel arches by virtue of being a southern vehicle all its life and the silver Renegade decals certainly dress it up. Simple black bumpers, a painted grille, rubber fender extensions over those wide-by-huge off-road tires, and a folding windshield all contribute to the elemental experience that only a Jeep owner truly understands. I suppose you could call the place where passengers sit "the interior" but it's about as exposed as any vehicle this side of a motorcycle. But it's hardly uncomfortable thanks to supportive buckets that feature new seat covers and a back seat that's been upholstered to match. The tub is protected with spray-on bedliner material, so it doesn't mind getting dirty and it'll probably last forever. A rather comprehensive set of gauges are vital for off-road adventures, and while the layout is kind of haphazard, the appeal of the big, round instruments is in their simplicity and form-following-function attitude. And yes, if you do have delicate skin and need some protection from the elements, there's a bikini top that'll at least keep the sun off while you're playing in the dirt. Jeep was part of the AMC empire, and when the rebuild was performed, they stuck with AMC power under the hood. With a 304 cubic inch V8, the lightweight CJ moves with ease, and is equally happy crawling along in low gear or zipping around town. Someone spent a lot of time under the hood, dressing it the way the factory might have, including a big industrial-grade air cleaner, corporate turquoise engine enamel, and lots of new parts. With a 4-barrel carb performance is impressive, and thanks to those side pipes, it sounds like a proper V8 should. The suspension has been augmented with a modest lift kit and off-road shocks, locking hubs up front, and heavy-duty hardware throughout, so you don't have to be afraid to hit the rough stuff. Flashy Pacer chrome wheels are a traditional off-road look that suits this 1970s Jeep just fine, and they sport genuinely massive 31x10.50-15 off-road radials that dig through the slippery stuff like they have claws. This 1980 Jeep CJ5 has been nicely maintained and restored as needed to make it more than a utility vehicle and a total lifestyle. Show up in this, and folks know you mean business. Let's start with the color, which is a bright, clean silver. Was it on the color pallet in 1980? Well, there was a Smoke Gray, but I can guarantee it looked nowhere near this good. With a good deal of metallic and an incredible shine, it seems to have an inner glow and thanks to modern materials, you can take this one out to play without worrying about hurting it. Fender flares help cover the giant tires, and it does keep its back-to-basics look intact with a bikini roof. And if you're wondering how the CJ5 and CJ7 are different, just look at the shape of the doors, with the CJ5 having a shorter, more maneuverable wheelbase that's a big advantage in the rough. Of course, it also has a traditional folding windshield, flip-up hood secured with 1930s-style latches, and round headlights flanking the grille that's been a part of the Jeep look for more than half a century. Plain bumpers and a rugged spare tire carrier add to the off-road-ready look. Jeeps are known for bare-bones interiors, but the black buckets and myriad upgrades inside this CJ tell a different story. OK, yes, you can hose it out after having some fun in the dirt, thanks to a spray-in bedliner on the floors, but the seats are actually quite comfortable for long hauls and keep you in place during rough going. The original speedo is mounted where you'd expect, right in the center of the dash, and the steering wheel is about as basic as it gets. The back seat is a brand new piece from BesTop that provides temporary accommodations for two, but it's probably better to think of it as an upholstered package shelf for extra storage. There's an ancient AM/FM radio in the center of the dash, but it's not working and with one wimpy speaker in the dash, it wasn't doing much anyway. Besides, you'll be having too much fun to worry about it. Most of these Jeeps received a six, a 258 cubic inch inline unit with good torque that makes crawling over the roughest terrain easy. It also scoots through traffic effortlessly and has proven itself time and time again as the engine of choice when the going gets tough. The engine bay is nicely finished and doesn't look like a vehicle that has spent much time off-roading, so that means it's tight and solid throughout. It's quite stock, including the heavy-duty air cleaner and emissions equipment, since with the right gearing all-out horsepower isn't required, and instead it's reliable and stable enough to pull low gear at idle speeds. A 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case make up the motive force, and a set of new heavy-duty off-road shocks, a modest lift, and aluminum wheels with giant 32x11.5-15 off-road tires mean it'll go just about anywhere. Fast, fun, and classic, Jeeps are still a fantastic way to have fun with your ride. This 1980 Jeep CJ5 Laredo is the ultimate go-anywhere fun machine, and to enjoy the Jeep lifestyle, you don't have to settle for a clapped-out beater, either. This one is beautifully restored, packing serious horsepower, and ready to enjoy without a second thought. The Laredo was introduced as the upscale Jeep, and it certainly looks the part. Remember, this is a time before luxurious 4x4s were the norm, so the flashy graphics and chrome bumpers definitely helped it stand out. With most CJs being used hard and put away wet, this one seems to have lived an easy life and doesn't show the usual bumps and bruises from a life lived in the dirt. Instead, it was given a frame-off restoration not too long ago, which returned it to almost new condition. The black paint is in excellent condition from front to back, and shows none of the usual issues in places like the wheel arches and tailgate. It's actually almost too nice to be on a fun vehicle that likes to get dirty and while Jeeps are rugged, basic machines, there's something special everywhere you look. Rubber fender flares allow the use of oversized tires and give it a broad-shouldered look, and a chrome front fascia dresses up the usual Jeep 7-bar grille and round headlights. And perhaps most importantly, the graphics remain sharp and well-adhered to the body, giving it a dress-up look that's better than any other off-roader of the period. The Laredo's other upgrade was inside, where the stock vinyl seats were replaced by fresh high-back buckets and just about everything else is new. The entire interior has been coated in spray-in bedliner material, so it's ready to enjoy without a second thought about getting dirty inside. The Laredo also added a tachometer to the array of instruments in the dash, joining the large centrally-mounted speedometer and apparently random array of auxiliary gauges. Things like the steering wheel, dash panel, shifter boots, and roll bar padding are all brand new and there's a locking center console for added security. There is no radio, but you'll probably find that this 4x4 is a lot of fun just the way it is and a soundtrack might be superfluous. The 4-speed shifter and two-speed transfer case lever work in the usual fashion, making it easy to drive regardless of the terrain. And for inclement weather, there is a full soft top with matching doors, making this a Jeep you can drive every day. For power, it relies on a bulletproof Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 with a few upgrades. Torque is the name of the game in off-roading, and you don't want some twitchy, high-strung powerplant when you're inching up a hillside. So with that in mind, this one received a high-rise intake with a Holley 4-barrel carb along with a custom fender well exhaust headers and side pipes, all of which help build on the engine's already legendary performance. The engine bay is so clean you'll wonder if it's ever seen a day in the mud, and it runs so well you won't be afraid to head out into the wilderness. Underneath it's shockingly clean with all the original hardware pretty much intact, and there's a new clutch and rebuilt transmission that have only 15,812 miles on them. The suspension is pretty stock and it's fitted with gorgeous polished aluminum wheels wrapped in 31x11.50-15 off-road radials. It may look fancy, but this is still a rugged, fully-sorted Jeep that's ready to play. And really, wasn't that what you were looking for anyway? We take SUVs for granted today, but in the 1970s, if you wanted a 4-door wagon that could climb a mountain, the Jeep store was the only place to go. With V8 power, a sophisticated 4-wheel-drive system, modern amenities, and enough room for the whole family, these Jeeps represent the beginning of an entirely new category of vehicles. You're used to seeing these with wood paneling, but the originals had no such pretensions and came pretty much the way you see this one today. The Jeep bodywork is easy to recognize even at a distance and for a vehicle that's more than 35 years old, this one is remarkably well preserved. It's been restored as needed over the years, but never warranted a full dis-assembly thanks to an easy southern life, giving it a sturdy all-of-a-piece feeling going down the road. The bodywork is in good order, just about the way you'd expect for a vehicle with this one's capabilities: not perfect, but certainly nice enough to be driven with pride. The paint has been re-sprayed in its original color and although it does show some signs of use and age, quite honestly there's nothing that says all-weather competence like this Wagoneer. A few chrome pieces add distinction, including the window surrounds, big Jeep grille, and a shiny luggage rack up top that's practical as well as handsome. The tan interior is spacious, perfect for family vacations to that out-of-the-way spot most folks don't know about. The control layout should be familiar to anyone who has driven a full-sized Jeep product of the era, with a fairly comprehensive array of gauges for the driver and plenty of comfort and convenience items. A column-mounted automatic transmission works with the sophisticated 4-wheel-drive system to ensure that you've always got traction and things like the AM/FM/CB radio, A/C (fully functional, by the way), and a tilt steering column make it feel far more luxurious than its price would suggest. The carpets are brand new, and cover floor boards that have been professionally coated with bed-liner, should you want bring the elements inside the cabin. Door panels and seat covers are original and in great condition and the back seat is spacious enough for a no-complaints road trip from anyone you put back there. Of course, there's also the massive cargo bay, which is neatly carpeted and looks like it would carry just about anything you could imagine. AMC's rugged and torquey 360 cubic inch V8 was standard equipment and with a recent top-end freshening, this one is not only fresh but drives superbly. The under-hood area is beautifully detailed and is very correct, from the air intake to the factory engine enamel on the block, to the ultra-clean firewall and inner fenders. Turn the key and it starts easily and has a muscular V8 sound thanks to a correct single exhaust system. Underneath, you'll be amazed by how clean this Wagoneer is (especially if you've ever been under one of these before) and it looks like it's never been anywhere more challenging than a gravel driveway. Recent shocks give it a very smooth ride and with power steering and brakes, this big wagon handles well and is still a great choice for today's modern world. Industrial-looking and correct steel wheels are a favorite 4x4 look and they're wrapped in right-sized 235/75/15 Firestone all-terrain radials. With a 2-page list of new parts, this expertly maintained Wagoneer is a rare find. There are plenty of later Grand Wagoneers around, but very few like this. Nicely preserved and maintained by a meticulous owner, this truck is ready to be enjoyed but won't last long, so call today! 1979 Jeep Wagoneer for Sale 1979 Jeep Wagoneer for Sale Stock # 2594-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. You're never out of place from the Hamptons to a rock crawling get together in Mississippi. This 1984 example is in a rich dark brown with a caramel interior and gold decals, and it runs as good as it looks! It looks black in photos, but that super deep rootbeer paint shimmers when you see it in person. Overall, it fairly screams its off-road credentials. Front and back there are custom bumpers with the front housing a triangular tow bar and massive 8000-pound winch. Bestop extra wide wheel flares give the Jeep a wider track and a massive attitude adjustment. Polished stainless windshield and door hinges and mirrors break up the dark color. A newer full soft top is in great shape with clear plastics in all openings. This is an imposing package! You could say the interior has a softer side, but it's still fairly hardcore in here. Freshly recovered, the caramel vinyl seat covers match the clean dash and look great with the exterior. They're comfortable, do a great job keeping you upright on the trail, and match the cool center console. There's a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player for tunes, too, so you're not bored in traffic. The floors are coated in Rhino Lining for super easy cleanup-you could literally take it through a car wash after you're done playing in the mud! A four-point roll bar keeps you safe and looks super tough. Under the hood is a 4.2-liter inline six, as reliable as time itself. Tons of torque, tolerance to any fuel you run through it, and virtually no maintenance make this engine a legend that Jeep used for more than 25 years. There's a cool finned aluminum valve cover and chrome air cleaner on top of a Weber two-barrel carb for appearance and power, a fresh tune up and a recent battery in the corner. Manual disc brakes slow your progress while power steering mercifully makes turning the big meats possible. It's tidy, not over the top and clean...just right for an off roader. The chassis is where it's at in a climber, and the right parts are in the right places. Breaking on the trail sucks, so there are heavy duty replacements wherever you can put them. Moser axles and a Detroit Locker are in the rear, along with a set of 4.88 gears for climbing over Priuses in the parking lot, while a Lock-Rite diff is up front, with custom heavy-duty driveshafts sending power from the stock 4-speed manual and transfer case. A beefy Pro Comp steering stabilizer and a steering box reinforcement bar keep you on the right path and Terraflex shackles are in their places front and rear. Braided high performance brake lines won't burst under pressure and definitely improve brake response. A Flowmaster muffler adds just the right amount of sound without being annoying. The four inch lift kit from Explorer Pro Comp, massive 15x10 American Racing aluminum wheels and 35x12.5 inch Procomp Xtreme tires keep you from getting lost in the deep woods or at a car show. Hey-if you get lost, it's your fault and not the Jeep's! If you've had a CJ, you know what a value this one is. If you've never had one, you know you want one. It's that simple-take this one to your favorite trails and call today! 1984 Jeep CJ for Sale 1984 Jeep CJ for Sale Stock # 2409-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. We can't seem to keep vehicles like this 1984 Jeep CJ7 in stock. Is it a newfound interest in off-roading adventures? The back-to-basics fun of a vintage CJ? Or is it that this Jeep CJ7 represents the ideal blend of daily-driver utility with go-anywhere functionality, all at an affordable price? Can it be all three? This Jeep isn't trying too hard to be something it's not. From the basic CJ box shape to the tasteful black and white color scheme, it has a no-nonsense look that's a big part of the Jeep's appeal. The white paint is neither new nor old and deteriorated, but does have a semi-gloss look that actually works rather well on a vehicle designed to brush up against rough stuff now and then. The bodywork is in good order with none of the usual trouble spots showing any signs of going south and it's kind of refreshing to see a CJ7 that isn't festooned with decals and stripes. Instead, it has heavy-duty tubular bumpers front and rear, plus a set of matching tubular steps on the side, all of which give it a tough look that's entirely appropriate. Add in the rubber fender flares and a black mesh screen over the grille and you have a Jeep that gets the basics exactly right without resorting to questionable modifications. You already know Jeep interiors are basic, but that's just the way enthusiasts like it. High-back black vinyl buckets are supportive enough for knocking around in the rough stuff and offer durability and hose-it-off utility. A locking center console means you have at least one place to stow your gear where nobody can get it at and black carpets offer a modicum of civility in an otherwise pretty bare-knuckle experience. The back seat has been jettisoned, which is OK because you can now take all your gear with you just about anywhere and the CJ does include a bikini top to keep the sun from cooking you while you have fun. The original speedometer is joined by a variety of white-faced instruments for monitoring the engine and a 4-speed manual gearbox means that it's a blast to drive. It's in need of a radio, so you can find your favorite setup and slip it into the dash pretty easily, a different kind of weekend fun. AMC's torquey 304 cubic inch V8 is a good powerplant for the CJ. Thanks to a 2-barrel carburetor, it's still rather thrifty and makes the kind of torque that you need for off-roading. A chrome air cleaner is the lone bit of dress-up in the otherwise functional engine bay, but you can see that there's lots of recent maintenance, including a full tune-up that includes cap and rotor, plus, and wires. Long-tube headers help with the aforementioned torque curve and there are new mufflers that sound mellow, so you won't get a headache out on the trail listening to it all day. The 4-speed transmission spins a 2-speed transfer case and factory axles, which sit on a mild suspension lift to give it a great Jeep stance. That lift also helps with the rolling stock, which consists of shiny aluminum wheels and positively giant 33x12.50-15 off-road tires. Fun to drive no matter what's under the tires, the Jeep CJ7 is still a perennial favorite for Jeepers around the world.
