1973 Jaguar XJ12 SWB. The rarest production Jaguar ever made. Only made between July 1972 and August 1973. This car was originally special ordered by a board member of the Jaguar North America dealer network. Only (3) V12 SWB XJ12s with chrome air cleaners were built. The other two also went to fellow members. The other two are Primrose Yellow on Biscuit and British Racing Green on Black. The Yellow one sold about 6 months ago at auction to Germany and the BRG one sold two years ago to a collector in Washington state. Initially Sir William Lyons had designed the incoming XJs engine compartment to take the V12, then under final development, from the start. This would be the last Jaguar Sir William Lyons would design before his retirement. The original Lyons XJ design is the purest form of the model that would continue into 1987 in the US and 1992 ROW. However, even though the V12 was supposed to be the only engine on offer the times changed and the smaller inline-6 engines became more common and thus are relatively plentiful in varying conditions by comparison. The S1 XJ12 model was the choice car for the Jaguar founder and was maintained as his regular car for many years into his retirement. It has been frequently noted by the man himself that the XJ was his proudest accomplishment and favorite car he had created far above the E-Type, XKs, MKs and SS cars. One only has to drive the original XJ to see why he came to that conclusion. It simply was a massive leap in refinement beyond all of the companies offerings at the time. The S1 is also noted to be considered the best looking sedan of all time. Among enthusiasts of the marque the S1 is considered the first and last truly well built XJ before the strikes and cost cutting measures of BL that pushed Jaguar to bankruptcy and into the hands of Ford in the late 80's. This particular XJ12 is turn key. The fuel system, brakes, cooling system, alternator, ignition system, and the transmission have been completely rebuilt. The car rests on new Goodyear tires on all four corners. It goes, steers, shifts and stops like a new XJ12 would. Idle is 700 rpm in park and neutral, 550 in drive. At idle oil pressure is just under 40psi - 80psi when driving. The oil I am using is 15-40 Shell Rotella. With the lights and radio on at idle the alternator is charging at 13V this goes up to 13.5V over idle and stays there. The water temperature gauge stays around the O in normal when driving and never goes past the R. The paint and chrome is excellent throughout as is evidenced in the photos. There is no rust anywhere on this car. This vehicle is collector quality and completely show worthy as it stands. Every single electrical item functions perfectly. Windows, Gauges, Clock, Antenna, Radio, Lights, Wipers (Park and both speeds), Fuel sensors, Fuel switchover valve, Air conditioning, Blower motors (both of them), Hazards, Turn signals (both directions self-cancel), Horns... The interior is completely original and smells like a Jaguar should. Low miles, care, and climate controlled storage have maintained the leather and wood in exceptional condition. There are no cracks or crazing in the wood on the dash or doors. There are also no cracks in the dash cover. The door seals are all perfect and malleable. The vent window seals have been replaced. There is absolutely no wind noise whatsoever in the car at freeway speeds and beyond. The loudest thing you can hear at 70-80mph is the clock. This is a three owner car. The original owner was on the board of Jaguar North Americas dealer network at the time in California. He kept the car until 1976-77. The second owner received it from her husband as their Silver anniversary gift and it resided in Washington state. I am the third. 651.342.0928

I travelled to an affluent part of town and pulled into an elite neighborhood of mansions. At the last house on a beautiful lane the Jag waited for us. Sitting squarely in the middle of a 2 car garage, the Jag gleamed bright in the spotless abode. We were greeted by perhaps the friendliest individual in the world at that moment, who walked us thru the particulars. The car belonged to his father in law who stopped driving it and handed it down in the age old tradition. The man was very knowledgeable and assured us he had not only driven the 100 miles to home, but was now doing his errands and put putting around in the golf course community. He had been thru all the operating procedures and told us this: in its lifetime, every main working part of the vehicle had been gone thru aside from the drivetrain. Hoses and gaskets had been done recently, the top motor and hydraulics had been replaced, brakes were done, new tires and the list went on. There looks to be 300 pages of receipts and records. All the lights worked, interior and exterior, and the anti lock brake light had been on since the top motor had been re-done. The bottom is spotless and I asked for a flash light to check for leaks. There were none and the garage floor was as dry as a bone. The mans only nit was that the small gaskets that surround the license plate lights had deteriorated and also that two straps holding the top boot down had shrunk. I have had over 400 cars and this is one of the top 3 cleanest ones. After driving it one can only describe the experience as "whooshing". The motor doesn't roar, you just take off in a beautiful slipstream that gets better as you go faster. It is easy to keep on the road and responds very well to any road condition.The top is perfect and every wheel is flawless with no peeling chrome or scraped aluminum. You do not want to get this car dirty in the rain. I doubt it has ever seen inclement weather. We have a very beautiful car here. Upkeep can be a big part of Jaguar ownership and this one had all the preventive maintenance one could imagine, harris.

I am selling a 1988 XJ12 VDP with 248,000 Km or 154,000 Miles on it. The body is in great condition with a little bit of rust under the front headlights and exhaust. The car runs and drives great without any problems. It has lots of work done including a valve kit, new expansion tank, new radiator along with water cooling system, new vacuum lines, new fuel lines and much more. Hey guys. I had this car listed a couple of months ago, and decided not to sell it. Now something has come up where it's come a good idea to sell it (I never thought I'd be the guy selling a car because my wife is having a baby, but here I am), so here we go. I apologize for the car being listed as a 1980, eBay wouldn't accept a non-American VIN for a 1984. Also, as you can see from my 'best offer' listing, theres more than a little bit of wiggle room in that price...but I figured rather than start the bidding at $200, let's just get right down to it. This is a 1984 Jaguar XJ-12 Sovereign. Most of the Series 3 XJ12s you see in the States are VanDen Plas that have come over from Canada, this car is a Sovereign and it came over from Germany as a 'gray market' car in 1989 or so. My understanding is that the differences between the names is that you couldn't call a Sovereign a Sovereign in North America, so our cars were VDPs. However, I'm sure there's a Jaguar expert reading this who can fill me in on the real differences. The car has been garaged it's entire life, and has no rust on it. The exterior is in very good condition, the only real defect I'd note there is a little bit of cracking in the older lacquer paint near the fuel fillers. No dents, no real scratches, the chrome is great, and the glass is all excellent. Oh, and the lights have been swapped...most of the US spec cars have the four small headlights rather than 2 big and 2 small, this one has had the outside lights changed to the large ones, which looks much better. The lights all work except for the fog lights, which seem to come and go...I'd assume it's a corroded or loose connection. Inside, the car has beautiful tan leather which is in fantastic shape as well, not dried out, not cracked. The veneer not the dashboard is cracking, but it doesn't look bad...kinda of a neat patina if you want to look at it that way. The car has a Nardi steering wheel (original is included), as well as a wooden shift knob that matches the wheel and dashboard. The carpets are like new, no cracks in the dash pad, all the interior lights seem to work. The air conditioning doesn't blow cold, but the compressor seems to engage. The gauges work except for the fuel gauge, but it does move a little when you switch between the tanks, so it might be an issue with the gauge itself rather than the sending unit. The car runs fantastic, too. Starts up easy, runs smooth, no blue smoke from the exhaust. It's obscenely smooth when you drive it, you barely feel the engine at all, but it does put you back in your seat. The European-spec 5.3 is supposed to make a little more power than the US version (300hp vs 260 or so), which is always nice to have as well. As far as issues, there are a couple of small ones. Most notably, the car needs a new voltage regulator, which I have in hand. Right now the alternator is charging at about 16 volts, so this will definitely need to be replaced. The battery is a new Sears Diehard Gold AGM, the overcharging alternator had killed off the old battery that was in it, so the car has probably been run all of 45 seconds on the new battery to keep from overcharging it. In addition to that, the car needs a fuel tank changeover valve, which I've also got around here somewhere. The car has two tanks, but the valve is stuck on the left side tank. The return valves are working correctly, however...when you switch to the right side tank, it still draws from the left tank, but returns to the right. I've got the original owner's manual, original shop manual, original tool kit, and the original spare tire (the tire itself is junk, but the wheel is good). The car has a clean title, but RI doesn't title cars older than 2001, so it'll be sold with a bill of sale and a copy of the current RI registration. Back when my grandfather owned it, this car was a show winner basically every time out. It still looks great, and I've won a few trophies with it myself. This is one of the nicer Jaguar XJs you'll see, and I doubt you'll have another S3 Sovereign next to you at the next show. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking. On Jun-22-15 at 17:44:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey guys, just a few things I remembered after writing the ad. The power antenna is stuck up right now. The antenna motor works, you can hear it when you turn on the radio, but it won't retract. There's what I believe might be a charcoal canister in the engine compartment, I guess it was needed to federalize the car when it first came over. It developed a leak, so its bypassed, but can be more fully removed. And on a side note, this is the best smelling car on this (or any other) planet. I don't know what it is about the inside of this car, but it just smells like old British car...not the least bit musty (the car is super dry inside, by the way), it just smells awesome. Like leather and wool carpeting and wood and stuff, I can't explain it, but I wish I could bottle it. Probably the only vehicle that could smell better than this would be like a mobile Cinnabon truck. I'll revise the ad if I think of anything else.

Reluctantly offered for sale is "Cinnamon," a fabulous 1977 Jaguar XJ12L sedan. I purchased this lovely motorcar from the second owner who reported that he had acquired it from the estate of the original owner with very low mileage. When I bought her she showed just 41,500 miles. The previous owner spent considerable amounts on mechanical maintenance and refurbishments over the years; in 2008 he replaced the interior with high quality hides and carpets, installed a new NOS wood dash and had her repainted in the original color. The paint is excellent and quite authentic single stage enamel that shows fabulously and has stood up very well. The chrome and rubber are all quite good. Glass is clear with factory (mild) tint. The interior is finished in brown leather on the seats with inserts of dark green in the panels and brown thick pile carpets (original color scheme). The leather still has the "new car" smell. The panels are original and quite nicely preserved. The dash top is free of cracks and the dash wood is excellent, reflecting that it is only 7 years since it was replaced. The leather is virtually flawless and looks new. I find no evidence to contradict the prior owner’s claim that the car is 100% original, undamaged and was never rusted or repaired. The body is tight and does not rattle like higher mileage Series 2’s. Undercarriage is clean. Owner’s manual and original papers and case are in the glove box. While it is not a concourse vehicle, Cinnamon is a very high quality "driver" that gets admiring comments wherever she goes. I have not shown her competitively but she certainly would stand up well in Jaguar Club driven class competition and local shows. More importantly, Cinnamon is a thoroughly enjoyable driver’s car. She is a pure pleasure to drive or ride in (the back seat is really comfortable with loads of leg room!) Smooth, powerful, comfortable riding, tight and responsive. She will keep up with and easily pass most modern traffic and benefits from that incredible smooth, turbine like V-12 acceleration that cannot be duplicated by lesser engines. Handling is quick, responsive and very “modern” feeling. Brakes are easy to modulate and very effective. The climate control is comfortable and the aftermarket stereo is high quality and very pleasant with extraordinarily good sound. It features a CD player and line in for iPod or mp3. Oil pressure is excellent. No overheating problems. Lights, turn signals, horns, wipers, windows, locks, all work as they should. No smoke, knocks, or other abnormalities. Since purchasing Cinnamon I have had her gone through by the best vintage Jaguar specialists in the area and have spent close to the asking price of this car in mechanical repairs and refurbishment to produce, in so far as possible, a thoroughly sorted and mechanically reliable Series 2 while still retaining the original drivetrain and authentic driving experience. The side mirrors are actually from a Series 3, I am told. They function well but are not fully authentic. The trunk latch is a bit loose but functions well. The headliner is original and undamaged but there is a small spot over the passenger seat that has begun to sag from the matting. The sad fact is that I have too many cars, particularly jaguars, and so Cinnamon is being offered for sale to a good home. I believe that these Series 2 cars, particularly the long wheelbase V-12s, represent a tremendous classic car value in the current market. Haggerty values this car at $12,000 in #3 condition, and just under $18,000 in # 2 condition, with increasing values. I believe it is much closer to a #2 car than a #3, and have priced it accordingly; the price is somewhat negotiable but this is not a forced sale. Selling my Glorious 94 Xj12 it has 142000 miles on it. The paint is just perfect I get compliments all the time on how "black" and shiny it is. There are some nicks on the sides of the doors nothing to bad. It goes like a jet when you step on it. It Has the Jaguar 6.0 V12 engine. runs amazingly. Installed new speakers and cd/mp3/bluetooth player. Front Seats are in great shape front drivers has normal wear on the left bolster. Back seats feel soft and new. A/C and heater all work. Sunroof works. Drives like a tank and very comfy. This is the last year of the XJ40 style jags, and only the 2nd year of the 6.0 XJ12. Build quality is great on these things.
