This 1968 car was a one year only production model and incorporated a lot of carry-over Series One features including the pretty taillights, earlier bonnet air opening, and attractive smaller bumper set. The 1.5 still carries the panache and silhouette outline of the earlier model's 2+2. This car was recently purchased from it's long term owner from 1991 who planned to restore it but could never find the time. The body on this car appears pretty decent and straight. There was an incident at some point in the past that required replacement of the original picture frame and the RH front subframe. The LH subframe is the original and reveals a kink in it, so it would be wise to replace this during the restoration. Nevertheless, The bonnet gapping appears fairly good and even. The bonnet underbelly/pan looks very straight and unhit. The doors close well. Wheelarchs are very decent. The boot/trunk floor appears pretty good. There is some rust-through in the front and to the rear of the driver's floor. The passenger floor board appears more solid. There is a typical rust spot around the battery box area. The interior trim of the car is pretty original as well as the glass, chrome, dashboard, and instruments and all appear to be in good condition. The windshield was replaced at one time. Work has commenced on restoring some interior items, but best to plan for a complete retrim. The previous owner stated that the car drove well in 1991 with a good engine and gearbox, before being put away for restoration. The engine currently turns by hand but no attempt has been made to start it. It appears this 4.2 unit has been sourced from a later Series 2 car. The exhaust system looks to be in good shape. Overall, a very decent 2+2 that appears very complete for straightforward restoration. With the rise in Series 1 prices, this Series 1.5 car is a good and economical alternative for an entry-level E-type owner.Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very original and decently solid 2+2 with the desirable 4-speed manual gearbox and chrome wire wheels. It was recently purchased from the state of Ohio where it was stored indoors awaiting restoration work. It is a full matching numbers car and hugely original. It appears it has had only one thin repaint in it's original Sable Brown color. The body on this car is very straight with nice closing panels and good gaps. All of the chromework and glass is original, and in relatively decent condition. The body overall is solid with very good floors, but there are a few underside areas that need repair as pictured, mainly the jacking corners. They are contained only to that area, and should be a straightforward repair. There is some pictured surface rust, but the metal is solid. There are some areas that need attention on the outer body panels such as some bubbling on the door bottoms, the rear bottom of the trunk hatch area, the RH rear wheelarch, and some boot floor joints. The spare wheel well looks very good with a nice spare tire. The edges of door bottoms and hatch lid haven't fattened up yet from rust, making the repairs easy. The bonnet is in very nice condition overall and fits well. The car's original engine turns nicely by hand and may run well with a little bit of work. The oil looks normal and at the right level. I'm sure because of it's low mileage, it hasn't ran in a while. Turning this car into a driver would require a recommissioning of the brake and fuel systems. The intake system has been attached for visual/shipping purposes. The engine compartment is largely untouched and very original, and still has it's subframes painted in the original color, making an underhood detail a bit easier...The car's black interior is 100% original including carpets, seats, interior panels, etc. There has been a replacement vinyl piece sewn into the driver's rear squab. The main headliner material has been removed and needs replacement. The original dash top pad looks very decent. The condition overall shows age, but not too much wear, proving the car's mileage to be believable. Overall, this desirable 4-speed car is priced well for an entry level E-type. It is a hugely original and untouched example, and would benefit from some cosmetic and mechanical work, making it a totally usable and enjoyable road car. This car was purchased by a California couple when it was just two months old from a young lady in Palos Verdes, CA. The car was enjoyed immensely up until 1987 when the husband became ill and passed away. This car then sat in a two-car garage for the next 29 years in Laguna Hills until being unearthed recently. The body on this car is extremely good, straight, solid, and totally rustfree. There is some unfortunate but repairable damage to the car's nose and under the LH rear bumper. The rest of the car looks fantastic. There is evidence of a single, thin repaint in the car's original color of Carmen Red, but the paintwork has an original feel to it, as it was done so long ago. Panel fit and gapping is exceptionally good, per factory specs. The car has acquired a few dings and scrapes over it's lifetime of use.. According to the selling widow, the car's engine was rebuilt in 1986 by a Jaguar specialist in the Newport Beach area to the lofty price of $7,500 back then. Currently, the car's engine turns nicely by hand, but no attempt has been made to start it. The car's braking and fuel system will need a full recommissioning to make this car roadworthy once again, but because of the car's originality, it should be fairly straightforward.The car's interior trim is just about totally original and in overall good condition for it's age, except for a headliner replacement. Included are pictured tools, jack, spare tire, and rear hatch glass. This vehicle is a rare opportunity to acquire a highly original and a virtually one-owner car. This car was recently purchased from it's long term California owner who took the car off the road in 1988 for some minor mechanical tuning for emissions. Unfortunately the car sat until recently and never made it back onto the road. It will require some recommissioning before being driven again. The body appears to be in excellent preserved condition and is totally rust free, save for only 2 rust spots: a small area on the lower part of the passenger door and a small spot on the LH rear wheel arch behind the wheel. Panel fit and bonnet condition is excellent. The car is totally complete with matching numbers and the mileage appears to be very believable and correct. The interior trim has benefited from the front and rear seats being recovered at some point in vinyl, along with a replacement headliner. This car was recently acquired from only it's second New York owner who purchased this car in 1971 from the original owner. He drove it during his high school years and then removed it from road use in 1973, putting it into indoors storage. At different stages over the car's life, it appears that there was some restoration work done including paint, trim, and an easy engine overhaul (most recently) but never together at once. The engine is currently stuck from sitting and we are soaking it with penatrant. The car has not been driven since 1973, and the actual mileage is very believable from the car's history and the 2nd owner's testament...The body on this car is very straight and accident-free. The car still retains most all of it's original sheetmetal. There is some small damage/rust to the middle of the bonnet underpanel, but the rest of the car is largely rustfree, save for some occasional bubbles, and some bubbling under the spare tire area. The spare tire storage area could use a sandblast to remove some surface rust. The doors shut well. The bonnet has been removed at some point and could use some shimming to get back a perfect fit. The engine was rebuilt and re-installed into the car but never fully hooked up with all of it's other components. Currently the brake system components are removed and are in the process of being rebuilt, but are included. The car has a new, un-installed exhaust system from years ago.This car would be an excellent low mileage core vehicle for a Concours restoration. Another viable option would be to finish up the car's mechanicals to make it roadworthy and improve the car's cosmetics (which could be an easy task). The paint on this car appears lovely and original, but upon very close inspection there has been some repainting in the exact color and a blend on the front of the hood, most likely early on in the car's life. Nevertheless, it still presents exceedingly well and should be preserved as is going forward. The paint is very nice and glossy and definitely has that "British Leyland" look to it, giving it a very original feel. The chromework , rubber, glass and other fittings are all extremely nice to nearly perfect, as one would expect for this car's mileage. The interior trim is 100% original in every way. The carpets and interior panels are beautiful, the leather seats have been carefully broken in and have mellowed nicely. The original dash top pad is perfect. The mint dashboard, guages, and switches are all operating correctly. The car had a navy blue replacement top and matching tonneau fitted of modest quality in domestic materials. The black English top boot is original to the car. The car's underside and engine compartment reveals the same story of it's original mileage: amazingly nice, clean, rustfree, and damage-free. It still retains most all of it's original stickers and factory decals. The car runs, drives, stops and steers very well. It is very solid and rattle-free. The oil pressure is outstanding and the previous owner has only used Valvoline 20W/50 Racing Oil throughout his ownership. The car's acceleration is brisk, but silky and smooth. This car was recently acquired from only it's second New York owner who purchased this car in 1971 from the original owner. He drove it during his high school years and then removed it from road use in 1973, putting it into indoors storage. At different stages over the car's life, it appears that there was some restoration work done including paint, trim, and an easy engine overhaul (most recently) but never together at once. The car has not been driven since 1973, and the actual mileage is very believable from the car's history and the 2nd owner's testament...The body on this car is very straight and accident-free. The car still retains most all of it's original sheetmetal. There is some small damage/rust to the middle of the bonnet underpanel, but the rest of the car is largely rustfree, save for some occasional bubbles, and some bubbling under the spare tire area. The spare tire storage area could use a sandblast to remove some surface rust. The doors shut well. The bonnet has been removed at some point and could use some shimming to get back a perfect fit. The engine was rebuilt and re-installed into the car but never fully hooked up with all of it's other components. Currently the brake system components are removed and are in the process of being rebuilt, but are included. The car has a new, un-installed exhaust system from years ago.This car would be an excellent low mileage core vehicle for a Concours restoration. Another viable option would be to finish up the car's mechanicals to make it roadworthy and improve the car's cosmetics (which could be an easy task). Offered for sale, here on ebay from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this rare and desirable early Jaguar 3.8 E-type, with a build date of approximately September of 1962. This car was recently acquired from it's previous owner who had plans to restore it, but could not because of health reasons. This is a full matching numbers car to every component, and appears to have left the factory in the early rare color scheme of Opalescent Dark Blue with a Light Blue trim. It is largely complete except for some known items missing such as the air cleaner can and collector, the front /rear windshield and cantrail chrome trim, and possibly some small hardware. The original bonnet on the car has been loosely assembled and mounted for shipping purposes. The fit is quite good, but there is some previous damage to the nose that needs attention. The body on the car is overall very decent but needs a pair of front floors and an outer LH rocker panel. The floors and trunk floor appear very solid with only some minor repairs needed. The frame rails look good. The car has been partially disassembled and includes all of the loose items pictured. The bonnet has all of it's chrome and important parts. The engine in the car appears to be in decent shape with good-looking, clean bores. It turns nicely by hand. At some point the cylinder head was removed for rebuild, has had a valve job, and needs to be re-asssembled. All of it's parts are there. The carburetors have been removed and are in a box. The speedo reads 39,000 miles. The front windshield has a crack and needs replacing. I have the rear glass in good shape packaged up safely. The rest of the glass appears original and decent. Quality body and paintwork was followed by newly replated original chromework, new windshield, new interior trim and cloth top, wiring harness, restored top frame, boot kit, etc. The mechanicals were equally treated the same and the car's original engine, carburetors, gearbox, and IRS unit were professionally rebuilt with all new parts. The braking and suspension components were completely rebuilt or replaced. All of the original hardware and suspension parts were correctly cadmium-plated. This car was purchased from it's Southern California owner who was in process with some restoration work. This car is currently in primer and had it's chromework removed in anticipation of a repaint. The body on the car is very solid with hardly any outer rust. The dipped front floor sections have been replaced at one time with correct panels. There has been an attempt at a few repairs (under the spare wheel well, rear of floors) with some fiberglass patching, which can be easily rectified. The crossbars in front of each seat show some corrosion and could use repair/replacement. The main floors and sills appear very decent and solid overall. This car recently received a brake and clutch system overhaul with new master cylinders, a new brake booster, slave cylinder, and some other items rebuilt. The radiator was serviced and painted, an auxiliary cooling fan was added, and the alternator was rebuilt. The car's front subframes and bulkhead area are original BRG paint and may clean up OK. The engine (block # 7L93208) and gearbox in the car are in fine order. The fluids are clean and up to the mark. The engine starts easily, has great oil pressure, no smoke, and sounds very healthy. The gearbox shifts nicely through its gears, with good clutch action. There is a good exhaust system that goes with the car. The wire wheels appear very decent and will clean up fine. The interior trim has been mostly removed for refurbishment. The black leather seats appear in OK shape. The soft top frame has been removed from the car but is present. There is a very decent original top boot in black that could be cleaned and re-used. The dashboard facia, instruments, and switches can simply be detailed and put back into service. Overall, this Jaguar E-type Series Two Roadster is very attractively priced in this market for a running and driving car, in need of a straightforward cosmetic restoration. Offered for sale, here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS for your consideration is an exceptional 1967 Jaguar E-type Series One 4.2 Liter Roadster needing completion. This car was purchased last year from it's longterm owner of Tucson, Arizona. This car was enjoyed for a period of years then disassembled for a total, ground-up, Concours restoration. The owner was not able to finish it because of health issues. The car appears to have left the factory painted Willow Green with Biscuit or Beige trim. I acquired this car approximately 12 months ago and had the entire body perfectly restored and repainted in period correct and appropriate Opalescent Silver Grey (basecoat/clearcoat) by a professional Jaguar body specialist. It was expensive, but the results are spectacular. The bonnet was completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal, cleaned, then carefully reassembled with new epoxy sealer to correctly glue the inner panels. It was then re-fitted and gapped to the car with the subframe assemblies attached. Complete bodywork was performed on the monocque, panels, and bonnet. The entire car was repeatedly blocked in primer, then painted with perfect results. It was a 3-4 month process from start to finish. The only replacement metal work on the car's monocoque were the front floor dipped sections and a new belly pan for the bonnet. The body is completely accident-free and rustfree. Even the nose of the bonnet is perfect. The car's front subframe set was also painted. The body is now ready for it's final assembly.The engine and rear axle assembly were sent out by the previous owner to a Jaguar specialist and were carefully disassembled and rebuilt. The IRS unit components were powder-coated and it is understood that the engine was completely rebuilt at great expense. The engine block, 4.2 liter engine 7E9870-9, is presumed to be it's original and matching to the car, but the cylinder head was purchased at the time as a brand new Jaguar unit, so it is therefore a later replacement unit with no number stamped on it. It is currently fitted with later Series Two valve covers. The gearbox was in fine order, so received only minimal attention. Some of the detail work on the subassemblies needs correcting to be accurate to Concours standards. The previous owner purchased a brand new set of (4) chrome wire wheels fitted with larger 205x15 period Pirelli Tires. The rear bumpstop brackets have been removed from the body to anticipate the fitting of the larger tires. Lots of other mechanical components were powder coated and restored but could use a refreshing and re-detailing. There is a large portion of original hardware that has been replated. The radiator has been rodded out and correctly repainted in black. There is a crate containing the carb set which the lids were polished, and they were in the process of being rebuilt. Overall, the car appears very complete with hardly any items missing. The car stayed in the same garage all of its life while in the previous owner's care, which is highly important when purchasing a disassembled car. The owner had most all of the chrome items replated except the bumpers, which were later test -fitted up to the car prior to final paint. The door glass and windshield are in OK condition but should be replaced for this level of a restoration. A portion of all the old trim was saved. Description You are a viewing a highly original and interesting late Series One Jaguar E-type Fixed Head Coupe, with mostly original paint and all original interior. Rarely are these cars discovered in this well-preserved, untouched state. The car is completely rust free and very straight, highly original with nice fitting panels, still in it's original first paint. There has been some paint touch up work at some point to the nose, tail, and rear hatch lid area as seen by the photos. This car is a full matching numbers, very late production Series One Coupe, only about 75 units from the end of the production run. It is an original triple carburetor, toggle switch, open headlight car. The car is very complete except for the factory air cleaner setup and the RH windshield post finisher. Included is the factory jack in the bag. The undercarriage is extremely nice and solid, as one would expect from a low-mileage CA / TX car.This car was sold new in San Francisco, CA to US Naval personnel and remained there for the next three years. There is a BMC service sticker on the driver's B-post door jamb verifying a service around 12,000 miles. It appears that in 1970, the car was relocated to Dallas, Texas to a naval air base. The last registration date was on it's Texas plates in 1979. It eventually made it's way back to California at some point in it's life. This car has a known history for it's early life. The speedometer reads 17,724 miles. Possibly close to actual miles, but definitely not 117,724...The car's interior is totally original but could use some restoration work to the seats and console, dash top pad, headliner, and front carpets.The original paint appears very genuine, with an authentic look that only an original car could have. The original lacquer paint looks OK in most areas, especially on the sides. Some fine checking has been noted on the top portion of the car that faces the sun, and has clearly dulled off. There is some minor, repairable damage to the RH sill area (photo). The car has some usual scrapes, dings, chips and dents from a lifetime of use, but all repairable and "improvable". Some of the chrome work is very decent, some of it is average, but all original. Some of the original rubber is nice and usable, some other items are hard. The car still has all of it's original Triplex glass in good order.The matching numbers engine has just been recently overhauled including the rebuilt original cylinder head, new head gasket, new rod bearings (std), honed cylinder bores with new standard piston rings fitted. The engine is remarkably original and low mileage without a step on the bore. The braking system has been completely rebuilt including the front and rear calipers sleeved in stainless steel, new kits fitted. A new master cylinder, new brake power booster servo, and all new rubber flexy hoses have been fitted. The gas tank has been completely boiled out / cleaned and repainted, a new fuel pump has been fitted, and the rest of the fuel system has been overhauled. The radiator has been rodded out and painted, all new cooling hoses have been renewed, and the car has received a full ignition tune up. A complete new exhaust system has been fitted along with new mounts. Approximately $9,000 (with documentation) was just spent on the previous mentioned work to be properly completed. The car still has the original Lucas spark plug ends and distributor cap, pair of Lucas headlights, BMC factory seatbelts, etc., all testament to the car's originality and low mileage. This car is in excellent running and driving condition, with a very nice smooth shifting gearbox. The engine has perfect oil pressure, no smoke or unfamiliar noises, and runs very strong and smooth as a result of its re-commissioning. This honest, original car has never been apart and can be placed back into service as is. It is also an excellent candidate for a careful, cosmetic preservation restoration. This work would entail detailing some existing items, restoring some other items cosmetically. The end result would be a highly original, honest, and totally useable E-type. Cars of this nature are becoming more and more desirable (and irreplaceable) to collectors and to the market at large, and are definitely more interesting than their fully restored counterparts.
