For sale is a 1995 Honda Odyssey EX. This is a rare car, essentially a tall Accord, with the same engine and driveline. This car has been owned by two families over the past seven years. I am selling it for the second, good friends. They made the decision to pass another car down to their daughters to drive and purchase a new Honda instead of investing more into the repairs noted below. This car still drives down the highway, straight, comfortably, and quickly with minimal squeaks or rattles, with cool air conditioning, good brakes and nice tires. The car has many strengths, and a few weaknesses that need to be addressed. I'll try to be very specific. The Good:- In 2010 there was nearly $4,000 worth of service work completed at our local Honda dealer. This included new brake lines, radiator, lots of brake components, and a full 90K service. - Clean gray fabric interior- All window regulators, lock actuators and sunroof work properly.The timing belt and water pump were replaced by the previous owner, but are now more than seven years old, but with probably only 40,000 miles. - In the past five years nearly all repairs have been completed by the Honda dealer. (hoses, control arms, etc.)- Tires are a matched set of Goodyears with roughly 50% tread left- The exhaust is aftermarket, but quiet and good- New front brake rotors and pads in 2014- In May of 2015 the car had new rear brake rotors and pads, an oil change and transmission fluid flush, and A/C evacuated and recharged. Receipts and service records are available for all of this work. The Bad:- SRS light is on, and has been for all five years. Unfortunately these cars are knows for failing SRS control units. So while it has driver and passenger airbags, they aren't functioning. - ABS light is on, and has been for several years. Normal braking function works fine, but the anti-lock brake function does not work.- Leak in the fuel tank (this was the final decision to sell the car) When filled over 1/2 way there is a leak from a seam at the top of the tank. This repair was estimated at $750 from Honda. Someone with some mechanical ability and a shop could save a lot doing this themselves, or always drive with less than half of a tank of fuel. It does not drip onto the ground, but you can smell it from inside the car. - It is a 20 year old car and has corrosion at various points on the body. With all of that said, it would be a good local commuter, it hauls large objects well, and it's a Honda. The car is available for local viewing in Wooster, OH by appointment.
