2001 Honda Insight 5 Speed Manual Transmission. MT. 54,397 miles I have appx 40 of these cars. With that being said, I'm not selling parts at this time as I need my parts for the cars I am selling. I have spent the last month, on and off, getting this car right. And it is as good as it can be with absolutely no problems. Wanted this car to be one of the best available. No accidents ever. Clean Carfax. Carfax has a +$580 due to the info in the carfax. Lifetime miles per gallon: 58.7MPG. Probably the nicest Insight on the market. Try to find one better if you miss out on this one. THIS IS A ONE FAMILY OWNED CAR PRIOR TO ME BUYING THE CAR. It was owned by the mom and dad. They died in 2011 and gave the car to their son and I bought it from the son. I have only put on a few hundred miles since I bought it in 2013. I have documentation that I will provide and included in the documentation is the ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER, ORIGINAL MILEAGE STATEMENT (222 MI DATED 2001) AND ALSO THE ORIGINAL INVOICE OF $20,620 WITH $12,620 DOWN AND A BALANCE FINANCED OF $8,000/ The Manual Transmission works perfectly. Shifts smoothly including downshifting. IMA battery is STRONG and only has 300 mi on it. When I first acquired the car a couple years ago it had an IMA light so had the IMA replaced by the dealer at that time(54,187 miles) and has only 300 mi on the new battery. I will provide the new owner with documentation that this battery only has 300 mi and it definitely acts like it. With 40 Insights I can attest that these batteries can remain dormant for very long periods of time and just need to be charged and discharged upon use. I freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery and it should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Nothing but the best for this car. The grid charger/discharger is from hybridautomotive.com and I believe is appx $400 without the installation charge. Of course the harness is installed and you should grid charge all insights on an as needed basis (appx every 2-4 weeks). Interior- above average. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. Cold A/C. The carpets were freshly shampooed. The floor mat in the hatchback area is spot free and in excellent condition. Exterior- EXCELLENT- NEW PAINT.When I first got the car it had fading on the hood and top and I had it professionally painted. Of course NO dents or door dings. Overall the body is in excellent condition. The wheels on this car are probably as nice as any other Insight I have. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-WAY above average. I challenge you to find any rust on this car. Definitely the best rust free car I have in my collection. Had this professionally detailed. 12V battery is a Honda Battery. Mechanics-Way above average as the car only has 54k mi. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Oil and Filter - recently changed. Ready to go. Tires -excellent. Balanced and ready to go. Car also goes into auto-stop easily (see pic) which is where the engine shuts off when idling and starts instantaneously when you step on the gas. This helps your mpg greatly and some Insights don't go into auto-stop. You guys buying these cars with bad tranny's and IMA's will be faced with possible repairs of $4k or more. This car is done. Tranny purrs. Strong IMA. Engine has ZERO leaks. Get in, drive and give me a positive feedback. Money was no issue in making this the best that it can be. No corners cut. Gas tank-on full of course. No issues. PERIOD. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. I'm appx 20 miles NW of Indianapolis, IN and you can fly in to IND (Indianapolis, IN airport) and I'll meet you at the airport and you can drive home. Anywhere including Timbucktoo. This car is ready to go. I am not a dealer but a retired enthusiast that has a ton of these cars that I enjoy working on. I'm not going to sell a car and then have you give me a negative for whatever reason as I have many more to go. But as of now just this one for sale. No sight seers of "InsightWorld" as I'm too busy enjoying what I do. Here to sell a great car for a great price. Where else can you get a car that can go 58.7 MPG and has NO problems with a NEW battery and tranny with a grid charger? I am selling this "as is" with no warranties expressed or implied. According the fasteners and overall appearance of all metal parts show very little rust. The Automatic Transmission works perfectly. Transmission fluid just changed. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Probably due to the fact it spent a lot of time in California. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. Cleaned the EGR plate of any carbon buildup. Had this professionally detailed. Mechanics-above average. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should, motor fires right up and sounds great. It's a beater, Good running engine, bad transmission started going out on 12/3/2015, bad IMA battery, I thought the car will last me longer so I bought 4 new tires on 11/30/2015 from discount tires with less than 300 miles cost me $260 have receipt. I put new front brakes and rotors on about a year ago, have receipt also. Windshield has a crack running through it. Power window works, ac works, heater works, wiper works, Panasonic detachable cd player and speakers works, missing rear wheel fender cover, interior is fair condition. Also comes with original manual and invoice. I was getting 56+mpg when the ima battery was good. Now It's getting 40+mpg without the ima. The car still drives forward and backward will do 60mph, but don't know for how long. Engine is still strong, I just changed the engine oil, filter, and honda cvt fluid cost me over $60. I'm pretty sure it's the start clutch is going out on the cvt transmission.

IMA light and engine light are on. Code P1449Needs IMA battery. Otherwise runs fine. Still gets 40Mpg without elec assist. Title says Milage unknown. This was because I bought it at auction and the guys couldn't get the odometer to to toggle to the right setting.Once it's there, you can't remove it from the title. The battery is the big issue. Know what you're getting into. This is not ready to be a daily driver CAN be test driven locally. CAN be driven home. Grid charger is currently attached. Lifetime miles per gallon: 55.2MPG The Citrus colored Insight is the rarest of all the Insight colors since it was only produced in the year 2000. It is the rarest and most sought after color. 5 Speed Transmission works perfectly as it should for a car with these low miles. No noises and no grinding of gears during downshifts. NONE. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Very very nice. I own a lot of these cars and the exterior is in excellent condition and has to be one of the nicest citrus colored insights in the nation. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. Oil and Filter - just changed. Ready to go. This car goes into lean burn easy and I frequently get more than 70+ MPG when I want to. Normally, I'm in a rush, and get 60-65 MPG. This car is great for fuel economy. A friend of mine in Las Vegas just recently achieved over 100 MPG on a tank of gas (10 gal tank 1000+ mi). In temperatures of 95-100+ degrees he would drive with the windows up, no a/c of course and get huge mpg. But he's a little nuts...and so am I. Just shows you what can be achieved with these cars. Great cars if you drive a lot or if you are just frugal. I'm neither. I just like the look of the car and want to be as gas independent as I can without getting too nuts. 2000 Honda Insight 5 Speed MT. 191,000 miles. Tranny just rebuilt. No expense spared. Lifetime miles per gallon: 56.8MPG 5 Speed Transmission was professionally restored by world renown Insight mechanic Scott Kulbeck, Covina, CA just last month. Scott has worked on this car and has driven this car. We have fixed any and all issues. Scott, who happens to be my best friend, is the best in the world at working on these cars and for those of you out west....he's the one and only mechanic to see. Well worth the drive. He's liked by all (including his wife!) and works very hard at maintaining his stellar reputation. This car runs perfectly and should last for another 200,000 mi. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Picture included of grid charging. Note: pic may say 167 Volts. That was during a grid charge and was charged to 172 Volts. Interior- above average. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. The carpets were freshly shampooed. Exterior- slightly above average. I own a lot of these cars and the exterior is in above average condition compared to my others. There are the various scrapes, dings (2 on hood) and a couple cracks in the left fender that was professionally bonded. There are also a couple small areas of missing clear coat on the hood (possible bird droppings left on the car previously?). No major dents and car is visually really nice looking from 5 feet. Had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact (see photos) and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-above average. Had this professionally detailed. Mechanics-above average. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should for just being rebuilt, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Fluids - all fluids changed and ready to go. This car goes into lean burn easy and I frequently get more than 70+ MPG when I want to. Normally, I'm in a rush, and get 60-65 MPG. This car is great for fuel economy, HAS NO A/C, which is a weight savings and you never use a/c if you want max fuel economy. That is why many of these cars don't have a/c. It simply is not used and I don't miss it. A friend of mine in Las Vegas just recently achieved over 100 MPG on a tank of gas (10 gal tank 1000+ mi). In temperatures of 95-100+ degrees he would drive with the windows up, no a/c of course and get huge mpg. But he's a little nuts...and so am I. Just shows you what can be achieved with these cars. Great cars if you drive a lot or if you are just frugal. I'm neither. I just like the look of the car and want to be as gas independent as I can without getting nuts. You guys buying these cars with bad tranny's and IMA's will be faced with possible repairs of $4k or more. This car is done. Tranny rebuilt by the best. Strong IMA. This extremely fuel efficient 5 speed manual transmission hybrid car is terrific for two people! Lifetime mileage is over 52 mpg and trips back and forth to the office regularly get me at least 50 mpg, as shown on the current tank of fuel. The car also uses the cheapest regular gas you can find, so it is very economical. The transmission is very easy to use and remains smooth shifting. There is plenty of luggage room in the hatchback, the car has power steering for easy maneuvering, and the air conditioning can be set to either remain on all the time, or go off when in standby mode at a traffic light to save fuel. It has a radio/CD player, power windows, power locks, ice cold AC, and an extended 10 year warranty on the hybrid battery which was replaced under warranty just about 2 years ago before the extended warranty expired. The Buy It Now price includes everything you see in the pictures: impossible to find drivers side floor mat (and passenger side), wired Valentine 1 radar detector with hidden remote, wired Scan Gauge II to help get into Lean Burn along with a custom Blendmount to attach it to the rear view mirror, rear carpet and a rear cover to hid packages. The tires, which are the correct RE 92's, are barely worn, and the plugs were replaced about 10,000 miles ago with the correct indexed spark plugs. I also have a spare full size 5th wheel and tire, along with an armrest specific to the insight that I never used. Any extra oil (Mobil 1 0w-20 and filters) will be provided. The car also has the optional rear speakers. The reserve is set lower, and will not include all the extras (rear speakers excepted, they stay with the car). It is hard to find a nice 5 speed these days, and certainly rare to find one with so little mileage (average about 7000 miles per year). Without all the extra's, the reserve price is set lower, so you can get the car either way. Only real blemish is the driver’s side headlight has dulled. When I had someone try to restore it, they did a lousy job and nicked the paint around the headlight. Should be able to handle by a good compounding, but it currently the only real blemish. The other minor cosmetic issue is the passenger side rear wheel spat (cover) lost its fastener and got dragged on the ground causing some scuff marks. I replaced the fastener and no issues since then. I can take any close-ups you want. I can provide much more information regarding the specs and performance to the “gear heads” out there, so let me know. This car is not slow as the car magazines would have you believe. It easily and economically keeps up with traffic without any problem. I f there is an additional view you want to see, let me know. Up for sale is a 2001 Honda Insight CVT Auto. I hate to sell this car. It has been in family since it had 170 miles on it. It gets great gas mileage, parts are cheap, and its very reliable, but only seats two people and we are expecting our first baby. I know a lot about these cars I have owned 3, and have successfully maintained every one of them. The current 144v battery packs are about 5 years old and has been on a grid charger. Should last many years. The CVT transmission has been replaced 3 years ago w/ starter clutch, along with a salvage yard engine after timing. The original engine timing chain stretched bad enough causing oil consumption that damaged the engine. THE GOOD: The car runs drives great. Averages about 53-55 mpg normal driving. Shifts great. The 144v battery charges as it should and assists as it should. The A/C blows cold, power windows/locks work. The auto stop/start feature also works. Tires are in good shape. I will include 10 quarts of Royal Purple 0w-20 Synthetic motor oil specifically for this type of engine. THE BAD: A Chainsaw fell on passenger side fender/headlight. The fender is plastic and does not bend, so it did break near the bumper. The headlight was replaced but still needs a fender. You can find one in exact color from over 6 online salvage yards. The bumper did get cracked, but it is repaireable.. or if your like me.. Drive it as it is and enjoy the 55mpg. LOCATION: I am located 60 miles E. of St louis in Centralia. There is an Amtrak station in town, and there is a Greyhound bus about 30 minutes away that I could meet you at. Depending how much it sells for, I could meet you at STL Airport and you can drive it home.

I purchase 9-24-13 from original owner Linda out of California where car had been it's whole life. It has never been smoked in or modified. Radio and floor mats are original. Has complete jack and owners manuals etc. Vin stickers are present on all panels. All covers intact on underside. No corrosion or rust anywhere even on factory exhaust or small attachment hardware. I never drove it here in Ky if salt had been used. All functions work. I have never had a issue with battery. I bought a grid charger that comes with car which I use every 2nd week plugging into reg house outlet. That cost 500.00. I also this year just put correct tires that cost 500.00. I'm selling because I live 3 miles from work and have 6 kids. ( 4 adopted from China ). This insight average lifetime is 54 which I read cannot be reset. Original owner drove highway. I get 44 city without even trying and don't drive alot of highway but when I did drive to the Auburn cord museum 5 hours away it got 54.8 in the rain 85 mph and that's no joke. Car was serviced at Honda by original owner and I have all receipts from oil changes I have done. I use 15.00 bosch oil filter and synthetic 0w20 which is correct. I also just put on 50.00 bosch wiper blades. Only negatives on car is roof is a little faded and some light clear coat peel on roof edge drivers side. Some grinding on down shift from to 2nd and 1st. It was like this the day I got it which I researched as a very commom problem. I pause before going into 2nd and 1st on downshift and no grinding is present so I never worried about it. This 2001 Honda Insight is in good condition! The engine runs perfectly and has been very well maintained. The battery pack is so-so, but nothing that the clutch interrupt circuit and my grid charger doesn't help at regular intervals. The transmission has the typical 2nd gear grind, but doesn't stop you from getting into and out of 2nd gear easily, and can be almost fully avoided it you let the rpm's drop for a second prior to the upshift. It could use a good detailing. This insight has all the underbelly panels with it. No rips or tears in the seats. I've replaced the steering wheel, window switches, rear trunk actuator, serviced the transmission linkage and shifter and replaced knob, egr plate cleaning, egr valve, plugs, correct low rolling resistance bridgestone re92 tires with good tread, dash surround, steering wheel, am/fm/in dash cd player, speakers, new brakes, new catalytic converter, etc, etc. Everything done with genuine Honda parts. All original Honda glass, including the windshield. Perfect floor carpets underneath the mats, even on the driver's side. I've also added the clutch interrupt circuit, the regenerative braking circuit, and wiring harness for the grid charger, etc, etc. The car has a clean carfax report, too. No dents. No check engine lights. I'd have no problem jumping in this insight and driving out to California today! These Insights seem to last forever. I've seen some with 400k and even 440k on ebay, with the original engines! Super lightweight (1800 lbs,) and super aerodynamic, the 2000 Honda Insight 5-speed holds the mpg record even today, with epa ratings of 61 city and 70 highway! No other car comes close, even today! Last summer, I averaged 73 mpg, city and highway combined! Suprisingly roomy inside, with lots of room in the hatch area and trunk area, as well. If you do a lot of driving, and can get by with a 2 seater, you cannot beat it! And, these cars bodies and frames do not rust, as they are all aluminum construction! AM/FM/in dash cd player, owner's manual, and the keyless remote are included, too. The car is wired for the grid chargers I build (see ebay item #301457638905.) Occasional grid charging helps the health of the battery and prolong it's life.) The other mods I build and offer can be installed also (throttle smoothing circuit, etc.) See them and read about each and their advantages in my ebay store. Kept in my heated garage. Priced right!
