This car was listed and "sold" previously for $4250 but the guy did not come through with the money.Please do not bid on this car if you do not have the money or you are not planning on buying it. It costs me $50 to resist it each time. This car was purchased from an older gentleman in Sun City, AZ for $2500. He was the second owner and he owned it for 20 plus of its 35 years.It mostly sat in his garage for at least the past 10 years, he drove it only occasionally but always kept it up.The all original interior is REALLY as good the photos and the interior is ALL ORIGINAL. I have had everything repaired or replaced on this car and now have over $8,000 invested. I will never get all that I have invested out of it but someone is really going to enjoy this car. However, I found a similar one with a factory sunroof so I'm keeping that one and selling this one. All mechanical work was done by a VW factory trained mechanic who even worked on these cars in the dealership when they were new. I don't think you will find a nicer, more reliable, VW diesel sedan than this one, and you can drive this one home with confidence to wherever you live, east coast, west coast, north, south, you name it.And EVERYTHING works. Original radio, rear defrost, rear window wiper, all switches, clock even keeps perfect time.This car only needs ONE thing. The driver side vent window. It must have fallen out at some time and the old man had a plexiglass replacement put in instead. It fits nicely but is the only non original item on this car. You can buy a new vent window glass on eBay for about a hundred dollars and they take 30 minutes to install. I had an '81 Rabbit Diesel back in the late 80s and if you ever drove one back then, you will find that this one drives JUST LIKE A NEW ONE. Very tight, very accurate, great acceleration, ZERO SMOKE, immediate cold starting.I have included a lot of underside pictures for those of you in the North and Northeast. Well-maintained, timing belt changed at 124,000. 163K total miles. They purchased this from the original owner here in Arizona in 1992; it only had 17000 miles on it at the time. So they've pretty much owned it its whole life. Sweet ride, nice classic Z. My wife and I borrowed it once to go to Disneyland, and it's like a bullet on the highway. Removable tinted t-top. Hatchback is heavy with the louvres, but the hydraulic pistons are new and hold it up nicely. Seat covers are not Walmart specials, they're genuine lamb's wool from New Zealand that cost $600 new.
