1979 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Special Edition- Chamois Decor - ONE OF ONE !!!!! We are selling this car because we have bought another, and need the garage space. We are not a dealer and own one too many Cougars. We discovered this car in Avon Park, Florida. It was custom ordered from the local dealer, and remained with the elderly owner until his death. He sold it to his neighbor, who later died, and we bought it from his estate. We have the paperwork and receipts from new. We obtained the Marti report and found that this is One of One Cougar XR-7 and only one of twelve with the moonroof / Chamois Décor option. It has the special color-keyed factory styled steel wheels in chamois. The car is in impeccable condition. It is like a time capsule to 1979. It is perfect in every way and everything works and runs as it should. It has one small scratch in the original paint shown in the photos. That’s it! It has not been repainted, and we detailed and cosmetically restored it by cleaning. It has no power seats or windows, as the car was special ordered this way. It has all new brakes and rotors. The tires have perhaps 1000 miles on them. We replaced the radiator, condenser, drier, compressor, fan motor. The a/c is ice cold. The carburetor has been rebuilt. The 302-2v runs and purrs perfectly. We installed a dual exhaust on the vehicle. We replaced all of the shocks. The only two things is the clock does not work and the temperature cable needs adjustment at the heater control box. That is the extent of anything this fine car needs! There are no signs of wear or discoloration on the carpets or upholstery. The moonroof opens and closes and seals perfectly as it should. This car is laser straight and never been in any accidents. The paint shines and glistens everywhere. The chrome is great. The underside photos show it appears like a brand new car. There are no defects. Everything is as original except the dual exhaust. Every sticker is where it is supposed to be from the factory. The vinyl roof is in factory new condition. The glass is perfect. We added a wind deflector on the moon roof that is easily removed. Selling my 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo (951), it has 126k miles and its in very good condition for its 28 years. Its been painted of a darker shade of red metallic color less than 2 years ago and it had plenty of work done to it which includes the most important thing, the timing! About 2 years and 5k miles ago it received upper end work, new cylinder head along new water pump and timing belt and parts. Less than 1000 miles ago it received new clutch disc, press plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, new axle seals and rear main seal. It has sport clutch disc in it for that extra boost. It also received, new alternator for Advance Auto, new front control arm bushings and driver side ball joint, new outer tie rods and new starter with battery. Front and rear brakes are in excellent condition.It has stock KKK K26/6 turbocharger with Blitz blow off valve and a custom race chips (chips unknown) but the A/F gauge shows rich under boost. Either the chips make that of it has bigger injectors for bigger turbo, cant tell. It has AutoMeter Air Fuel Ratio gauge and AEM TruBoost Turbo controller which i have it set for A-9psi and B-16psi and OFF its set to about 5psi. Keep in mind that this cars curb weight is about 2700lbs and max boost goes to 18.5psi for this Turbocharger. I took it 160+ with no issues.Moonroof works and comes off, power windows work, power mirrors work, all lights work, wipers work, horn works. Passenger door key only locks from outside, driver side locks and unlocks door.Car runs very strong and makes 28MPG mixed on (93 octane ONLY) here in Florida. The bad stuff for its age are: cracked dashboard, cracked front fog lights but they work fine, 3x7" belt dent on front fascia, reverse dent on front hood, driver seat has a cut/hole, rear upholstery was cut out. It has no a/c, i never got to it. It has a small power steering leak around driver side area and it needs upper strut mounts, monoball preferred. It has KONI Yellows in the front and Gabriels in rear. It sits on 18" RH AG Cup rims, 18x8 front (245/40ZR18) Sumitomo HTR-Z3 in front (90% tread left) and 18x10 (275/35ZR18) Hankook Ventus in rear (80% tread left). The car is a lot of fun and it will last another 30+ years if you take care of it and dont abuse it. Its a fast highway car, not a burnout or drift car, it has a torque tube for driveshaft so too much abuse will blow the bearings and give you plenty of fun to replace it.. Its currently registered and I drive it few times a month. Clean FL title in hand, no trades, checks or other scams. If you dont know much about this Porsche, then i suggest you google it because its not just another car.
