Up for sale is this rare 1992 GMC Typhoon with a clear Illinois, USA title. As you probably already know, this is a special, limited-production vehicle from GM with AWD, turbo V6 power and automatic transmission. It is similar to the GMC Syclone and GMC Sonoma GT. This car recently received the Sportmachines tune-up which included big plug wires, Ngk UR6 plugs, MSD cap and rotor, Mobil 1 oil and filter . The truck has also received a recent PCV valve, new gas tank, new fuel filter and new battery. This is Typhoon number 2434 in Apple Red paint with an Argent Gray interior as shown in the pictures. Only 345 were made in this combination and year and only 446 Typhoons were ever made in this color combo. This vehicle has less than 72,400 miles (116,300 km) but the odometer is slowly rising since I drive the truck regularly. The good: Rare, fast, exciting, collectible and even practical! These will not depreciate; they will maintain or even increase in value as they get rarer and rarerClear Illinois titleRecent tuneup from Sportmachines: big plug wires, Ngk UR6 plugs, MSD cap and rotor, Mobil 1 oil and filterNew: recent PCV valve, gas tank, fuel filter and batteryLow mileage, only 72,400 miles (116,300 km) or so (going up as I drive it on weekends to car shows)Paint is glossy in like-new condition except for some bubbling (described below)The interior is, and I rarely say this, perfect. No tears, no rips, no scuffs, no scratches. The leather surfaces are soft and in beautiful shapeThe engine pulls hard and builds boost as it shouldThe transmission shifts correctly; never misses a beat and is smooth but firm in this shifts.EGR delete with stock EGR system includedPioneer radio with Bluetooth and aftermarket speakersBrand new rear glass with wiper delete and spoiler was put back on (original wiper and motor included)Custom-made "Typhoon" number plate matching the number of the truck is affixed to the intake manifoldAftermarket air filter3"inch cat back exhaustDeep-tinted windows (check your state/country’s legal requirements if this concerns you)A/C delete for more power, less weight and less complexity. A/C components are included in the sale of the truck.Factory-installed oil filter relocation to behind the headlight. Makes oil changes very easy!Tires are in good shape The bad: A/C (as mentioned above) is inoperative but all the parts are includedPaint is bubbling in various areas of the front doors, roof and lower tailgate. I have done my best to show the worst places in the pictures. Rest assured the underside, door structure, tailgate structure and frame/body of the truck are in good shape but the surface of the paint and corrosion is what you can see in the picturesThere is one shallow dent on the driver's door, difficult to photograph but I will point it out if need beThere is a nickel-sized flake of gray paint missing from the drivers side rear body kit, behind the rear wheel. There are a couple of areas of scratched-off paint where the doors meet the cab and where the hood meets the fender/cowl. Touch up paint will go a long way here; nothing to worry about. I have some GM red paint and I will include it with the sale of the truckThere is one (and only one, believe it or not) rattle from the driver’s door when going over bumps.Small oil leak from the front of the engine area. It may just be the oil drain plug but I haven't narrowed it down yetThe OEM wheels are a little tired looking. No scrapes, bends or curbing, just need a refinish to be show-qualityHorn only works sometimes, I think it is a sticking relay History of this vehicle: A young man, who went by “Ty”, purchased this vehicle and those close to him noted his love for the truck. He played basketball for Columbia before an injury sidelined him. He was working at his “dream job” as a research associate in the World Trade Center before his tragic death during the 9/11 attacks. His father kept the truck until it was sold in 2009. Coincidentally, a later owner had a parking sticker on the window showing the date “9-11”. The sticker has been left on the truck for years as a respectful memory of the truck's earlier caretaker. I am told it was repossessed at some point before ending up in Chicago when the previous owner bought the truck. I bought the truck recently intending to show it around the Midwest in 2016 but I have since decided it is too much truck and too valuable for me to keep. If you have any interesting trades I would be interested in another “fun” car plus cash. http://www.sportmachines.com/members/truckind.php?truckid=206http://www.college.columbia.edu/cct_archive/may02/may02_obituaries2.htmlhttp://www.nytimes.com/2002/01/20/national/portraits/POG-20UGOLYN.htmlhttp://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32190 Viewing/ShippingVehicle is available for viewing/pickup in the Chicago area in the USA. No joyrides please; bring cash if you wish to be treated as a serious buyer. I also have a 50+ picture gallery online and an extensive video tour of the car available upon request. I may be willing to deliver the vehicle for a fee to be arranged. Delivery/transport to the Canadian border or perhaps even across may be arranged for the right reimbursement. I have no problem with cooperating with the buyer’s domestic or international shipping arrangements either.PaymentI require a deposit of $500 via PayPal within 48 hours of the close the of the auction. For the remaining payment, I will accept cash in-person. Other payment options may be available but assume they are not before bidding or contacting me.
