Some times I think it the rear axle from the rust spot on top of the axle and not the transmission I did not have it check it out. I hate to have it rebuilt then next year it would go out some people said to put a use one in it to cold outside I don't have a garage. I put a lot of other work into it like oil changes, tires, radiator and dex-cool antifreeze. front brakes pads, brakes lines, Brake Power Booster, sparks plugs & wires, Alternator, body work and have rear bed and frame work done take the rusted bad parts off put on better parts. I had it in for inspection the instructions PASS but the Emissions FAILED due to the silp and engine light was on. They want the rear brake shoes be replaced the pads have cracked and wiper blades and the wipes motor not working right.
