This truck was built about a year ago. It has a 2008 6.0 Liter that has been cammed with a 6-speed automatic. Motor and transmission have around 10,000 miles. The paint and trim are both new. The top has been smoothed and repainted as well but can still be removed. It has both new wheels and tires, as well as exhaust. It was factory air but has since been replaced with a vintage air kit. Essentially, other than interior, everything on the vehicle has been replaced. The interior is all original and in excellent condition. No expense has been spared in this build. Fortunately, great trucks like this 1985 GMC Jimmy still exist, providing that awesome blend of practicality and style that no other 4x4 can deliver. The tan paint job isn't going to get you a lot of attention, but on the other hand, it gives the Jimmy a clean, uncluttered look that won't get dated. With a truck that you're going to keep for a long time, that's important. And it's in excellent shape, showing signs of careful maintenance over the years and looking pretty much the way it might have in, say, 1988 when it was just a few years old. The doors fit and sound the way you remember and the color-matched fiberglass top gives it an all-of-a-piece look. There are no signs of abuse or accidents in the way it looks and details like the big chrome bumpers, diamond plate running boards, and oversized side mirrors remind us that this is a truck that doesn't mind being a truck, not a wimpy "crossover." The GMC brand hadn't started their upmarket march in 1985, but things like the brushed stainless tailgate insert and bright side trim mean that this isn't a base model, either. The tan cloth interior is shockingly well preserved. Twin buckets up front show minimal wear and are comfortable enough for all-day drives. A functional center console gives you cup holders and a place to store odds and ends and the wrap-around instrument panel will look familiar to anyone who drove a GM truck in the '80s. The gauges are still bright and this Jimmy came loaded with options, including power windows and locks, a tilt steering column, and air conditioning. Somewhere along the line, the original radio was dumped in favor of a digital AM/FM/cassette tuner, and maybe you'd be ready to upgrade it once again when you get this truck home. Back seat space is massive, with a plush bench seat that's perfect for two but will hold three in a pinch. Full carpets with durable rubber mats mean you don't have to worry too much about getting things dirty and the cargo bay, even with the spare tire in there, is truly massive. If you're going somewhere and taking a lot of stuff, the Jimmy is what you need. The engine is a robust 350 cubic inch V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, denoted by the 'L' in the 8th slot of the VIN. Yes, carburetors were still doing their thing in 1985, which also makes engines like this extremely easy to upgrade. Fortunately, this one appears to be almost completely stock, from the air cleaner to the exhaust manifolds, although a snarky-sounding Flowmaster muffler has been added for effect. The engine bay is shockingly clean, with mostly OEM parts visible throughout and service access is awesome. The A/C has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant, which makes it easier to service in the future and still quite effective. The automatic transmission is linked to a familiar 2-speed transfer case and heavy-duty axles with automatic locking front hubs, so getting out of trouble is easy. It's clean and tidy underneath, with signs of careful maintenance, including a new high-flow catalytic converter for emissions legality. And the original Rally wheels are now wrapped with right-sized Uniroyal radials. You remember these trucks fondly and there still aren't alternatives that can keep up. This one is in great shape and quite reasonably priced. This 1990 Jimmy is in very good shape with only 51,600 original miles. The pictures tell the story. This Jimmy is unique in that it was a GM Executive Vehicle – see the delivery address on the bottom-left of the window sticker – GM delivered this Jimmy to itself!Fully-loaded, top-of-the-line SLE trim. All original interior and mechanicals. New A/C compressor and evaporator and has been converted to R-134 refrigerant. New radiator. Keyless entry and alarm. Factory heavy-duty suspension and quad front shocks.Original owners manual and papers included.Check out the window sticker! It has a few condition issues. There is an older, minor body repair in the body panel just to the rear of the driver’s door-due to a parking lot accident. It is showing a crack now - a collector would want to fix this. The speedometer stopped working in December-now it reads 85 all the time. The radio works great but has occasional static. And there is chassis rust underneath that is cosmetic and could be removed by media blasting. Other than those things, the truck is an amazing survivor and is in incredible condition both visually and mechanically. The engine, trans, and all the mechanicals work perfectly.
