For Sale: My pride and joy, 1977 GMC, 1 ton dually, 4x4, crew cab, 9 ½' Reeder-utility bed, truck. I've had it for a couple years now and slowly worked on it but I simply hardly ever use it and I have too many other projects. What I've done: (have receipts) • New clutch, pressure plate & throw out bearing • Rebuilt AC with updated refrigerant • Rebuilt Edelbrock carb • Rebuilt power steering pump and hoses • Bolted a spare tire carrier/winch under the bed that tucks the spare out of the way nicely • Replaced one of the doors on the utility bed that was damaged • Lots of new front end parts and bushings-needs nothing The Good: • 350 engine runs strong, starts right up • 19.5” wheels • No rust, two small rust spots were professionally patched, a couple surface rust spots but very, very sound body that is also very straight except for one spot on front, left fender, easily fixed • All lights and gauges work • Lockouts and 4x4 works great • Dual fuel tanks with inside tank switch works great, lockable caps • All doors lock on utility bed, two sets of keys for everything • Runs down the road straight • Good oil pressure • 4 speed manual transmission shifts fine • New plugs & wires • 40 channel Cobra CB • Split rear window • Could go to work tomorrow • Good interior, all windows crank fine • Diamond plate bed is rock solid, would look great with a Rhino Liner type coating • A fixed ball on the bumper and class III receiver hitch • Diamond Plate cover over the front of the utility box & mud flaps • The cab and rear seating are HUGE, this will comfortably seat 6 The not so bad: • Crack in windshield, out of the way, see pic • Headers need to be replaced, there are exhaust leaks from block to halfway to mufflers, a good set of stainless steel headers will run you $250-$350 complete • Tires are getting to where they ought to be replaced • Drivers' seat area under seat cover is ragged, the rest of the interior is quite good, rear bench seat is perfect. Rear seat folds forward for additional storage behind seat • Small leak on rear main, may be fixable by just pulling the oil pan (I've been told it's a two pc. seal) • Only one speaker for radio works, probably just a bad wire • Windshield washer pump is bad but I have a replacement, not installed The odometer reads 31k, I'm sure this is 131k and have records that would support this. I cannot emphasize too much just how nice this truck is. This will make someone a great work truck or is perfect for a doomsday prepper, bugout, TEOTWAWKI, zombie apocalypse truck, the possibilities are endless... $5,000 obo but no ridiculous lowball offers please, try to buy this much truck in this condition for less. Might discuss swapping this or the other truck (1970 GMC) or both, for an ATV or another interesting 4x4. Please call with questions. 970-71two-20one5 I also have a 1970 GMC Special Camper for sale that you can see in a couple of the last picsThis is a neat truck that is crying out for a restoration. I always attempt to fully describe everything so a potential buyer is fully informed, please let me know if you have additional questions or would like a picture of something. There's nothing worse than traveling for hours only to be disappointed from lack of disclosure. So the truck had a 454 in it and I bought it to swap engines with my 1977 GMC 1-ton. The 454 ended up needing more work than I wanted to spend on it so now this truck sits without a motor and my recently unemployed status tells me to cut back on some projects. The Custom Camper is a heavy duty 2wd with extra emblems & trim and was made for towing, I think they originally came with a 402? So, it still has the TH400 tranny, rebuilt front end with new ball joints, a-arm bushings, tie rods, etc., and new brakes shoes and drums. Truck was repainted many years ago but obviously needs repainting. I have some of the trim but had intended to dechrome it and weld up the mounting holes for all the trim. Truck is very straight and really not rusty with the exception of the passenger rocker, (see pic, nice, stamped replacement patches are available for about $30) and a small spot on the bottom, front drivers fender. Also you can see the rust on the optional tool storage bin on the passenger side. The gas tank was moved from behind the seat and mounted under the bed, filler is inside the bed. Tailgate is good. The interior is all there with the exception of the interior mirror and headliner. Everything is available as far as reproduction parts and are quite reasonable. Truck came with AC but needs the compressor etc. Somewhere along the line the windows were converted to electric, they work but are very slow, I believe a simple cleaning of the mechanisms in the door would solve. All the gauges worked before I pulled the engine. It ran straight and true down the road. It has 4 studded snow tires on 8 bolt wheels. I have the radiator, alternator distributor, PS pump, rebuilt carb and basically everything to put this back together minus an actual engine. This would be a cool project for your 16 year old or someone who wants a truck that is a bit rare for a resto project. $2,100 OBO. Please let me know if you have any questions.
