This is the absolutely last model year with the coveted LBZ Duramax. The LBZ was the last Tier III emissions diesel offering by GM before Tier IV emissions standards mandated the use of the power and fuel economy robbing DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) as seen on the following LMM Duramax, along with the addition of SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction, or better known amongst non-diesel mechanics as urea or DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) injection) on the even later LML Duramax. The LBZ took lessons learned from the initial LB7 and proceeding LLY Duramax with increased power, strengthened block and pistons, more robust fueling, and a host of other improvements that earned the LBZ the moniquer of The Hot-Rod Duramax. But do not let this nickname scare you away. My particular Duramax is completely bone-stock and unadulterated, with a clean title, no accidents, and only 36,500 miles. That is correct and not a typo: 36,500 miles. I purchased it from a dealer in Salt Lake City of whom imported it from Canada. (The mirror’s digital thermometer even reads in degrees Celsius! But no worries, the rest of the dash is standard measurements just like the rest of the American-spec trucks.) I am the second owner of this truck, just purchasing it in July of 2014, in which it only had just shy of 32,000 miles. So in over a year’s time, I have only managed to put on just under 4,000 miles, all of which were babied, cruise-controlled highway miles. This is part of the reason why I have decided to sell it. I work in Alaska and am never home to even enjoy the thing for well over half the year. It just sits underneath a truck-cover as I continue to make payments on it. I know that the diesel community consists of many enthusiasts that like to push their oil-burners to the extreme limits with all of the available aftermarket performance parts that continuously grows by the day. As I have previously stated and may be blatantly obvious by my overkill in description, I am a professional diesel mechanic by trade, so I am very particular in my diesel-powered vehicles. I know what these things are capable of and it is quite impressive what they are capable of. They excel at whatever you desire to pursue. But as for myself, as a common everyday blue-collared working man, dependability, reliability, durability, and longevity are paramount for me. For this reason is why I seeked an extremely low-miles stock Tier III diesel. With a barrage of stricter emissions regulations emerging what seems like non-stop, the many advantages of a compression-ignition engine are beginning to become neutralized. If you live in an emissions-controlled county, you understand exactly what I am talking about, especially if you drive a 2008 Tier IV diesel. If you desire a very-well taken care of and maintained Duramax that boasts power and fuel economy north of the 20 miles-per-gallon range without the added expense of illegal delete kits or continuous fill-ups of exhaust fluid, then this truck is the ticket for you. This is the top-of-the-line at the time SLT package, which with the exception of a sun/moon roof, (Really, how many of these are you going to find on a real truck!?) this truck is fully loaded, with power everything, leather, killer Bose sound system, etc. It also has a few tasteful add-ons from the previous owner, such as running-boards, full-bed liner, gooseneck ball hitch, and camper tie-downs. Only things I have added are custom floor mats and a lighted-up GMC hitch cover. I live in Grand Junction, Colorado, which is where the truck is located as well. But, as I have already annotated, I work in Alaska, so my availability is extremely limited, so if I do not reply in a timely fashion, please be patient and understanding and I will get back with you as soon as I realistically can. As I am just trying to simplify my life and give this truck a good new home, I am in no rush to sell it. No joy-rides without proof of funds, and do not even bother with low-ball offers. I monitor the price of similar-condition trucks on a daily basis, and considering that this is the lowest-mileage offering that has not been used-and-abused, I know what this truck is worth. I spent over $38k when I bought this truck last year, and with this being the diesel equivalent of the muscle-cars golden era, the value of these trucks are pretty resilient, so I am not about to budge much on the price if you are too far off your rocker.
