carzncoke Store 1959 - FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE RARE JJ CODE 430                    1959 - FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE RARE JJ CODE 430 Up for your consideration is a RARE  1959 Thunderbird Convertible with the RARE J Code, 430 engine. In 1959 Ford built a handful of 430 c.i., 350 h.p. powered Thunderbirds. This was done to meet the Nascar rules for Stock Car Racing. In 1959, at the New Daytona Speedway the First Daytona 500 was won by a 1959 T-Bird in a photo finish.  When the photos were developed 2-3 days later; Nascar determined, that Lee Petty had won in a 1959 Oldsmobile.  Johnny Beauchamp in the T-Bird, was then given 2nd place. We do not know the exact numbers; but, believe a J Code Platinum Convertible is Very Rare. We have the build sheet to show these are the options this "bird" was born with. About 15 years ago, a complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration was done.  It has a very high dollar paint job, that is smooth as glass. The interior has new leather covers and new carpet. The door panels and floor mats are new. The gauges, lights horn, radio, signals all work as they should. The 430 runs quiet, with no noise.  It has loads of power! Several years ago, power front disc brakes were added. The car is a pleasure to drive having radial tires, tight steering, new shocks and new exhaust. It has had some minor rocker panel repairs on both sides. This car looks, runs and drives excellent! All books, manuals and brochures are included. There are some professional restorers that want to remain anonymous; think if the car is an old Thunderbird or Mustang it must be a rot box.  While this may be true in some cases it should not be construed as normal. A deposit of $500.00 must be received within 24 hours of auction's close; unless other arrangements have been made. Deposits are refundable if the vehicle does not meet the description or the inspection presents problems that buyer and seller cannot come to terms on. Full payment must be received within 7 business days of the end of auction. Payment must be either by cashiers-check, cash (In Person) or by bank wire transfer. If funds are not received, and an alternate arrangement has not been made, the vehicle can and will be made available to other potential buyers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
