Additions include Recaro sport seats, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, revised suspension tuning with unique spring and damper rates, and a larger rear stabilizer. The Laguna Seca model loses its rear seats, which are replaced by a cross-car X-brace to increase structural rigidity approximately 10%. It rides on 19×9-inch front (255/40-19) and 19×10 inch rear (285/35-19) light-weight alloy wheels with R-compound ultra high-performance tires. Ford Racing front brake ducts help cool the brakes. 1997 Granatelli “Wide Body” Custom Cobra SVT Mustang Convertible “FANG” 427 V8 650+hp 6-Speed California Original Owner Show Car From the famed Granatelli stable of high end Custom Designed Ford Cars/Trucks and modeled after the 1000 hp Street Driven Summit Racing Pro Millennium "million dollar" Mustang, this custom Granatelli Cobra Mustang “FANG” is the 650+ hp little brother. Granatelli built three similar custom Mustangs: Pro Millennium, THRILLER & FANG. The body for this one-owner Ford Cobra Mustang was modified using “All Steel” and no Bondo. The hood, nose and rear diffuser were one off and fabricated with a Carbon Composite. The car was finished off by Euro Body with six coats of black Giasurit paint and twin silver stripes. Once completed, this Granatelli Wide Body Mustang show car "FANG" was featured in the Main Hall at SEMA in Las Vegas by Granatelli Motor Sports and in 2001 Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords did a 4-page full color spread on the car. FANG is as happy on the street as it is on the track and runs as good as it looks. It was no longer just some careless badging with mild tuning or an upgraded motor on a dying chassis. It was becoming a developed GT. It received an all-new independent rear suspension. Mated with its 320 horsepower 4.6 alloy block V8, this was (finally) the Cobra that the market demanded. Only 4,055 convertible Cobras were built in 1999 and a mere 278 of them were delivered in the desirable white/black color combination. This Cobra was sold new from a local Los Angeles Ford dealer in July of 1999. The first owner drove the car for about a year and then traded it back to the Ford dealer. The current owner purchased the car as a certified car from McCoy Mills Ford of Orange County in October of 2000 with 12,000 miles on it. This owner is a mature enthusiast who was looking for a nice open car for Sunday drives. After many years of servicing and enjoying the car, he decided he wanted a bit more power. He enlisted the help of Vortech Superchargers. Vortech is one of the leading brands for these systems. The installation is extremely clean and has a factory look to it. Over $5,000 was invested. The end result was a very clean and handsome engine bay and 371 rear wheel horsepower on the dyno. This system is smog legal in all 50-states and easily passes California’s very strict emission testing. All the original engine parts removed have been retained and will be included with the car. Although these Cobras came with most available options as standard equipment, there were still a few items that could be ordered. It appears that this example was loaded with most of them: Leather power seats Rear spoiler/wing Mach 460 sound system CD player Tonneau cover Power convertible top This SVT Cobra has been extremely well cared for. It has always been garaged, detailed/serviced regularly, and rarely driven in inclement weather. The exterior looks fantastic. All the paint is original with minimal signs of use. The soft top is in perfect condition. It comes standard with a rear glass window and defroster (big improvement). The wheels are original with no curb rash and wear brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tires (45,000 mile tire warranty included). The front brakes and rotors were recently replaced. The rears have more than half life remaining. The interior is equally as nice with no tears, rips, cracks, smells, etc. It looks very close to new. Everything works properly. The A/C blows ice cold. All the gauges work. The sound system sounds great. No service has been over-looked. It gets regular oil changes with synthetic oil. It is never abused or raced. It drives great and feels very tight. The supercharger system is fantastic. It feels like something the factory would do. This is a wonderful and very well preserved convertible that is ready for open-top touring. California registration is paid through February of 2015. This was a one-year only car and the only Fox body based Cobra built. The production run was limited to a mere 4,993 examples. Of those, only 448 were built in this rare color combination. Although emission laws still had a strangle hold on our muscle cars, Ford still managed to coax 235 horsepower and a whopping 280 pound feet of torque from the legendary 5.0L Windsor engine. With zero to 60 times at 5.6 seconds and the deep growl from the large V8 engine, these Cobras were truly intimidating on the street throughout the 90’s. Due to their popularity on the drag strips, very few of these collectible cars survived let alone remained original. The first owner purchased this Cobra from a local Orange County, California Ford dealership. This owner was a mature woman (the proverbial grandma from Pasadena) who primarily used the car to visit her daughter in Arizona. For the next 5-years, she racked up 63,000 miles commuting to Phoenix…all freeway miles. In 1998, she decided she needed something more practical for this 700-mile round trip; so, she traded the car into Villa Ford in Orange, California for a SVT Contour. At the time, the current owner’s uncle worked at this dealership and knew his nephew had been looking for a ’93 Cobra for some time now. So, he made a quick call and the current owner was at the dealership within the hour. He purchased the car in April of 1998 and began an incredibly well-documented 16-year relationship with this Cobra. Every service, repair, and enhancement was documented. The stack of receipts is impressive. The car was never abused. It was initially used as a daily driver and then it became more of a weekend car. It was always garaged, regularly detailed, and obsessively serviced. The engine is bone stock and the valve covers have never been removed. Any upgrade made was tasteful and to improve reliability/performance. All OEM original parts have been preserved and will be included with the car. The approach this owner took with the car was to retain originality while carefully enhancing the one weak link: the suspension. As original rubber suspension components began to deteriorate, they were replaced with upgraded items. The list is extensive. This owner was fanatical about caring for the car. It was ALWAYS garaged and rarely left unattended. The exterior is in great condition. The paint is all original and verified with a paint meter. As most know, these cars tend to look tired quite easily if not obsessively maintained. All the steel panels are original and carry their correct factory VIN sticker. The front part of the hood shows some light checking in the paint, but at least it is original. There are no signs of abuse. The interior is equally as nice. It is all-original with hardly any signs of use. The A/C blows cold and all the gauges, buttons, switches, etc. work properly. The dash is straight with no cracks. The headliner is tight with no rips or sagging. The seats look amazing with very little signs of wear. The driver door stay broke and we have a new replacement one. It is included with the car but not installed. I was surprised at how nice this Cobra is to drive. Yes, it has gobs and gobs of torque/power and accelerates easily. However, it doesn’t have that American-car-rattle that you would expect. Everything feels tight and solid. The brakes are strong and the shifting is butter smooth. There is nothing I would change about this Cobra. It is just right. California registration is paid through April of 2015 This Mustang comes with all the extra keys, most of the oem original parts, owners manuals, spare tire, jack, tools, car cover, original sales technical bulletin, and 16-years worth of receipts.
