1971 All Original Ford Mustang that has an 8 cylinder 302 2bbl engine. It's all original including the interior from the day it came off the showroom floor. The car is in very good shape and runs very well. It has a decent paint job, clean interior, with no major dents, rips, or scratches. I had a major tune up done that included compression test, replacement of water and fuel pumps, new exhaust system, belts, hoses, fluids, plugs and wires, radiator, etc. I also had the transmission rebuilt. The car has the original 173, 391 miles on the engine. The car is stored with car cover on and inside the garage. I also have every receipt from the original owner for maintenance including the window sticker. The car cover is included in the sale. Up for sale is my 1989 Ford Mustang GT. ~158k miles on body, ~10k on motor/trans. ~2-3k on suspension/rear end parts. Vortech supercharged. Selling it because the rings in the #7 cylinder (3rd back from front drivers side) are bad, causing the spark plug to foul up almost immediately, and I can't afford to put any more money into it. I had new Cometic head gaskets put on about 1k miles ago after the old ones blew last year, and the shop said there was some rust in the #7 cylinder from water sitting in there from the blown gasket, but that it might last some before a rebuild. So, with my blessing, we put new gaskets on, and it ran great for a little bit, but now it needs to be rebuilt. Will list parts below, basically all the car needs is a new shortblock, or this one rebuilt, and it should run low 11s on drag radials and high 10s on slicks. Car dyno'd at 345whp with an 11.8-12:1 AFR and 15 degrees total timing, and I got it to run 12.3@110 on drag radials with the only decent launch of the night when it was first put together on that tune, so there's a lot more in it. I was just not expecting the rings to go this quick, and I can't put any more money into the car, so it needs to go to a new home instead of sitting in my driveway again for a while. This combo was first in my other Mustang with no Vortech, but unfortunately I wrecked that one, so I acquired this car from a friend which had the Vortech already installed, and I just slid my drivetrain in and did all the suspension work. All work done by Maryland Perfomance Center in Frederick, MD. Tune done by George @ MPC. Car is worth at least $9-10k with a good motor, and it should cost about $3-4k to have a basic shortblock rebuilt and/or installed, so the price reflects that difference. I know what the parts on the car are worth, and what it's worth parted out, so I won't take any lowball offers, sorry. 2007 and 2008 were the only years Shelby offered the automatic (6-speed) trans as an option, and they didn't make many of them. This registered, true Shelby (NOT a clone - Shelby #08SGT1394)) is clean, runs great, and everything works. It has only 29800 miles on it - which means it's been driven regularly on nice days - but less than 4000 miles a year. That's much better for a car than constantly sitting - fluids don't settle, tires don't dry-rot, etc.***************** This Shelby hasn't been modified in any way, and still has plenty of life left on its factory-original tires and brakes. It's pretty close to traveling back in time and buying one of these brand-new.**************** I've truly enjoyed driving this car. I haven't abused or raced it, but flooring the gas pedal pulling out into traffic results in a healthy engine roar, and it often chirps the tires shifting into second gear. You gotta love that. I wanted an automatic so it would be comfortable to drive, even in traffic, and I'm glad I searched (for 2 months!) to find one, because it has encouraged me to drive the car more often than I would have, plus I haven't had to worry about the clutch exploding (read about that in the forums, if you wish).******************* A few things I should point out: 1. The Carfax shows this car having a minor accident in 2009. I didn't own it at that time, but it was apparently repaired perfectly, because there is no evidence of any damage, ever. The exterior is basically flawless, as is the interior.********* 2. This car was ordered with cloth (pony) interior and non-stainless dash - both features I prefer. You may not, but the seats don't get hot and sticky, and the sun glare doesn't blind me off the dash.********* 3. If you want a car that's uncomfortable, unbalanced, too loud and unreliable, spend the extra money and buy a GT500. It has really big snakes on it, so if you're compensating for something, I'm sure you'll be happy when you drive it 200 miles a year in perfect weather. BUT, if you're looking to re-capture the true spirit of Carroll Shelby's vision, and own a snake that is quick, handles, has a nice throaty stock exhaust that's not overpowering, and still has the Shelby mystique going for it, buy a Shelby GT. And if you REALLY want to actually drive it on a regular basis, hunt down an automatic. I purchased vehicle locally in 1997 with approximately 75,000 miles, I am the second owner. Vehicle was sold new locally as well. Vehicle mileage is predominantly highway travelling back and forth to college during my last two years. This vehicle has been garage kept for at least 16 of the 21 years I have owned it. The images speak for themselves as this car has been taken well care of. Vehicle has never been in a wreck. However, did receive a very minor bump while parked in driveway in 1997. This included minor body work and replacement of right rear taillight. Needs new rear main engine seal. Not an expensive part, mostly labor.Electric Door Locks: Solenoids need replaced. Manual locks at moment.Items that have been replaced over past 10 plus years (Year is Approx) and doesn't include smaller maintenance items such as oil changes, brakes, air filters, belts, fans, etc.:In 1999 air pump was replaced.In 1999 water pump was replaced.In 2000 fuel injectors were replaced (Ford Racing).In 2002 rack and pinion was replaced.
