Sure, the car's multiple trophies prove that it can easily be taken to a show, impressively displayed and lovingly admired. But, a roster of time tested upgrades mean that it can just as easily hit the highway and create a grand, 1-car parade. That's right, as it sits, this Ford, with its plush interior, smooth drivetrain, reliable small block and classy, unaltered body is built to show AND enjoy. And what's better: you can have all that show and go for much less than the cost of building it yourself! BODYWORK/TRIM Judging by the pictures included with our sale, this hot sedan's solid Dearborn steel was super clean before its $130K rebuild even started. But nonetheless, the car was subjected to a full, body-off restoration that stripped that all-original profile all the way down to metal. Complete in April of 2009, that reboot was conducted by John Birosh of Penn Yan, New York. And today, embodying the impeccable taste of sparkling root beer or metallic caramel, the car rolls as a banner show piece that celebrates the sublime simplicity of Henry Ford's greatest design work. Thanks to high quality trim and first-rate detailing, this hot rod really puts the "class" in classic. At the front of the car, polished, "Ford" branded headlights lead a mesh-screened, "Ford" branded grille that's topped by an ornate radiator cap. At the sides of the car, solid doors found subtle pinstripes above billet-trimmed steps and polished handles. At the top of the car, an un-chopped roof seats tinted safety glass inside a tilting windshield, a small wiper, a deep visor and pliable canvas. And out back, a traditional "V8" emblem shadows LED tail lamps and a small trailer hitch that's hidden behind the car's folding license plate. ENGINE Fold this T's steel hood and you'll find a 302 cubic inch small block that was professionally built by Joe LaPine of Danbury Connecticut's Danbury Competition Engine. What's more: bored .030 over and fitted with a mild street grind hydraulic cam, that mill will likely run circles around any powerplant south of giant bores or trick induction! At the top of the sedate block, a 600cfm Holley carburetor rides between a finned Cobra air filter and Ford Racing intake. At the front of that intake, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor anchors loomed Moroso Blue Max plug wires between an MSD Blaster 2 coil, a polished breather and finned Cobra valve covers. Below those covers, ceramic-coated block huggers funnel spent gases in to flashy exhaust pipes. And opposite those pipes, a modern water pump cycles coolant through a beefy radiator that's backed by dual SPAL puller fans. As you can see, the clean engine bay wears matching 2-stage skin. And all the motor's ancillary components, from its Denso alternator and chrome dipstick to its coated fuel pump and braided fluid lines, are all high quality aftermarket pieces. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When the car's current owner commissioned its restoration, he wanted its low profile achieved through trick suspension mods instead of a chopped roof. That resulted in a thoroughly modern chassis that features an almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The foundation for those great dynamics is a custom fabricated frame that's been both boxed and Z'd. That frame rides a fully independent suspension, which follows polished coil-overs, polished tubular control arms and manual rack-and-pinion steering with a Heidts Jaguar-style rear clip. That suspension stops when four polished calipers squeeze four vented rotors. The 302's power flows from a proven C4 3-speed to a polished pumpkin that's fitted with friendly 3.23 gears. At the center of the floor, polished stainless exhaust pipes breathe through polished Flowmaster Hushpowers. And at the corners of the chassis, traditional wire wheels spin "V8" branded hubcaps inside two 175/65R14 Michelin Harmonies and two 225/60R17 Michelin Harmonies. INTERIOR Inside this Ford, a custom cockpit wraps vintage simplicity in modern acoustics. Front and center, a body-matched dash hangs Classic Instruments All American telemetry above polished foot pedals. Opposite that dash, plush bench and bucket seats feature modern lap belts. At the bottom of those seats, piped California Carpet anchors a polished hand brake and polished fire extinguisher at the base of a booted Lokar shifter. At the edges of that carpet, leather side panels hang polished handles and small armrests beneath polished window frames. Above those frames, a sculpted headliner backs a hidden mirror and flush Traffic Light Viewer. And the driver stays connected to the road through a polished steering column that spins a thick, "V8" branded wheel. AWARDS According to its owner, this Model T has claimed quite a few prestigious awards. This is the vehicle that put America on wheels, so it always gets a respected place wherever it goes. We really don't have to tell you the color on this one, because the legend is clear that you could get a Model T in any color you wanted as long as it was black. But the beauty of this car goes beyond the dark gloss of the paint. It's in the authentic details of everything from the wood spoke wheels to the finned radiator cap. Because this is the touring body, you can take friends for a ride in the country, and the soft top is in great condition to keep the noon sun off of everyone. Basic black leatherette is what all open Model Ts received, and it's been kept to period correct standards with pleats and buttons. Door panels are perfectly simple swatches of cardboard and leatherette with small cutouts for the door handles. Floors are wood, along with much of the body's framing. The dash is a simple affair, with just controls for the ignition system and an ammeter (even a speedometer was optional!) Controls will be familiar to anyone who's driven a T, but if you've never piloted this famous Ford, don't worry because millions have mastered it before you. Working the controls is part of this car's charm, and you feel like the part of a century-old club after you quickly get the hang of it. The Model T's powerplant was the trusty 177 cubic-inch inline-four, which was rated at about 20 horsepower. It might not seem like much, but it feels plenty powerful in a lightweight open car like this. Most of that is due to the good low-end torque and smart gearing. Once it's in high gear, this T is happy to cruise at 35 MPH without complaints. The block is finished in black with its correct updraft carburetor, that's still fed by gravity to keep things simple. In fact, that's how to view this whole car. You'll be surprised at how much you'll enjoy driving it, and how intuitive the maintenance is. We know this because the same family has kept this Model T in running order since 1953. All the original tools are included with the car as well, from the jack, to wheel/tire changing equipment. This car is not looking for a new owner...It's looking for someone to carry on its legacy. A car this nice and complete doesnt come along often. Are you ready to be a part of history? The 2-door 5-passenger Model T sedan is known colloquially as the Centerdoor. It was first built in 1915, and marketed by Ford until the early 1920s. What is interesting about the year 1915 is that it was the last year in which Model Ts were uniformly produced with brass radiators (there were only a few left-over brass cars built in 1916, and from then onward, nothing was brass). So, if you like Centerdoors, and you like Brass Era cars, then the only year you'll find the two together is 1915. "Wait," you'll say. "I've seen a lot of brass Centerdoors!" Yes, you have... and they're not correct. The 1915 Centerdoor body (by Fisher) was an anomaly in that it was fabricated with aluminum. It had the gas tank under the rear seat. It had a single panel at the rear of the car in lieu of two fused panels. ALL of these features changed in 1916 and onward. For this reason, it's easy to tell if the Centerdoor at which you're looking is a later body with an after-market brass radiator slapped on the front - that's the vast majority of what you're seeing 'out there.' BUT, if you can find a Centerdoor with the unique 1915 features, you have a first-year production car, and a rarity indeed. The renowned Model T author and historian Bruce McCalley says that fewer than 1000 Ford sedans were produced in 1915, and that includes both the Centerdoor and the Town Car. Moreover, the 1915 Centerdoor would have been a 27 year old car at the start of the WWII metal drives. How many (of the few that were even made) ended in a scrap heap as "an old junker"? I bet quite a few. Don't believe me? Check the membership roster of the Horseless Carriage Club, which lists members and the cars they own. See many 1915 Centerdoors? Nope, didn't think so. I wanted one of these for a long time. I searched all over the country. For several years. Nada. Lots of 1917 and 1919 and 1921 Centerdoors with after-market brass radiators can be had, but nothing actually correct. Until I found this beauty on the other side of the country. I flew out, examined it with an expert, bought it, and had it shipped back. And here it has remained garaged to the present. The body is inarguably 1915: aluminum, gas tank in rear, and all the other structural facets that can't be faked or altered. The engine's serial number is 8644xx, which puts it squarely in the middle of August 1915. The car has been on several regional tours, and has performed admirably. It needs a good fuel line cleaning, but otherwise it has no apologies. It has the after-market 'fat man' steering wheel, and also it still have ancient curtains and bud vases inside the passenger compartment. Sadly, health developments have necessitated my selling this wonderful garage art (isn't that always the reason that great cars come on the market?) About the photos: I am not strong enough to crank the car at the moment to drive it outside and take good photos in sunlight, so I had to take photos in the garage as best as I could. In the posted photos, you'll see the pair of lovely brass (period after-market) carriage lamps that I removed from the sides of the car. You'll also see the upholstery, though it's hard to get a good interior shot. Also, I have taken a pix of the relatively minor wood damage where the lamps were affixed (both sides are about the same). I am happy to take add'n photos if requested. Or better, just arrange to come by and see the car in person. You'll be glad you did.

1926-1927* Model T Solid start to a wonderful project. The best original wooden wheels I've ever seen. Engine turns and has compression. 80-85% of the body is stone solid with minor rust. Fenders have normal dents and dings, and has a farm hitch on the back. Incorrect windshield frame but is real complete. Was originally purchased with the intention of becoming a ratrod, but further looking proved the body to be too nice to use as chop fodder. Would make a great restoration for someone. No title available, bill of sale only. You come and pick up. *Got a lot of emails about the year of this car. The original owner had apparently bought it in 1925, but the body is likely a 1926 or 1927. The engine inside has been transplanted from a 1923. Thank you for the corrections.

Probably not. This 1923 Ford T-Bucket roadster is the ultimate hot rod on a budget. There can't be many folks out there who fail to recognize the T-Bucket's famous shape: open engine, open cockpit, upright windshield, and a stubby deck out back, all of which have been part of the formula since day one. It has that great raked appearance that looks like excessive speed has pushed back every component on the frame. And with the size of those massive rear tires, that tale is not hard to believe. Maroon is the perfect color for this original-style hot rod. It's more modern than the running flames down the side but still bold enough to represent this wild beast. Best of all, it really helps bring out the chrome in everything from the tailpipes to the expensive Weld Racing wheels. Like most T-Buckets today this is built on a fiberglass tub, but the quality is so good that when you race by onlookers, they will think you really did cut up a genuine Model T. Minimalism is the word when you get into a T-Bucket, and this one does it right. The seat bench seat wraps around the body tub nicely, and it is plush enough to offer a surprisingly high level of comfort. The black vinyl provides the kind of durability that means you don't have to worry about it being out in the sunshine. This also nicely conceals your battery and gas tank. Between the driver and the passenger are most of the controls, including the ignition, and B&M performance shifter. The driver gets a classic three-spoke steering wheel and a full set of AutoMeter gauges. This is framed by some cool custom pinstriping, so be prepared for plenty of people to ogle your roadster's interior at the car shows. These might look like vintage Fords, but Chevy small-block power always works well in a T-Bucket. This one started out life as a 305 cubic-inch V8, and then the hot rod people went to work! The motor has been enhanced with goodies such as a hotter camshaft, MSD electronic ignition, high-rise intake, dual-quad Holley carburetors, Edelbrock fined valve covers, and performance headers. Of course it wouldn't be a true T-Bucket unless it's all capped off with the massive chrome butterfly hood scoop. This monster motor makes a monster growl that is amplified by the dual side exhaust pipes. While all of this power might seem a bit overwhelming to amateurs, it is comfortably controlled by a three-speed automatic transmission. A tubular front axle on a transverse leaf spring keeps the right T-Bucket look, and the rear end suspended on coilovers keeps everything feeling good on the road. This one is exciting to drive, fun to look at, and always attracts attention. The classic T-Bucket remains the most fun per dollar you can have with a hot rod.
