I am listing one of my projects as I am going to start on another one and this one will just sit until I get around to it and I could use the garage space. Here for your consideration is a 1929 Ford Model A rat rod I pulled out of a barn last year. This is a hot rod that was originally built back in the 60s. I don't know a whole lot about it and most of it is still the way it was when I got it. It originally was a 1929 ford coupe that they cut the top off to make into a roadster. They also put it on a 57 chevy frame that is still very solid and useable. They did a decent job running it down the side of the body similar to a 1932 style. I put in new front shocks, new ball joints and new polyurethane upper and lower control arm bushings. It has a 58 chevy rear end under it. Its still mounted in there how the last owner did it who knows how long ago so it needs mounted in better and some new shocks or go with coilovers. The doors were originally welded shut and the tops of the doors were cut down so that they could just hop in instead of opening the door. Apparently that was the style back in the day and was called a "speedster". The doors open again now and I tack welded in some pieces off of some other doors I had just to level up the doors with the rest of the body again. Just a rough start and it could all be finished when you take on the rest of the body. Keep in mind this IS a project, it needs all new floors and a firewall made, which wouldn't be hard I just never got to that point, I wanted to get a motor and trans in first and build the floor and firewall around it after it was put in. The brakes aren't hooked up and would need gone through, I have a box of new brake parts. Some but not all can still be used, the box has gotten wet at some time so im assuming some parts got damaged. The car runs but does not drive, along with needing floors and firewall it needs steering and a driveshaft as well. That's most of what I can describe for the body and frame now I'll talk about the rebuilt Buick 455 big block and trans I put in it. I welded in new mounts for the engine and trans so if you keep that motor and trans in it, that work is already done for you. Its a 1975 buick 455 I went through and rebuilt details are below: Rebuilt 1975 Buick 455 Big Block: New ground .010 under crank, New main and rod bearings, cam bearings piston rings and all cylinder bores were all in great shape so were not changed however I did install a front hardened dual groove dual feed cam bearing from t/a performance to help fix the usual oiling problem with buicks, put in neoprene front and rear seals to get away from he old rope style seals that like to leak, new comp cam 96-203-4 .469 lift 110* lsa, new high performance lifters, fresh fully rebuilt heads with 5 angle valve job all done by AMP Performance, new a/c delco water pump, new thermostat housing, new timing chain and gears, new fuel pump, also a rebuilt AED 750cfm holley 4150 style carb (I can take $200 off the price if I keep the carb). 0 miles since rebuild just break in run time. I have a lot of money in the motor and its worth half of what im asking for it and the whole car! The TH400 trans that goes with it I have not rebuilt, seems like everything is good with it but I cant say for sure. I do have Illinois title in hand for this car!!! All in all this is definitely a project and will take some work to get on the road but if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and use your imagination you can clearly see all the potential this car has and how fun it will be when finished. Remember a lot of how this car is setup is exactly how I bought it so I can only describe it the best to my knowledge and don't know every little thing about it which means its being sold as is. So if you have any questions please call or text me! The last thing I want is for someone to not know what they are getting or not be happy. The best way to figure out if its what you want is to come at look at it in person although I know that's not always possible. I can take pictures of whatever you need. My name is Josh my number is 815-979-9254, my email is [email protected]. This car is listed locally as well so it could be taken down any time if it sells, just keep that in mind. Thanks for looking!
