You'll overlook that this is a chrome-laden American classic in the perfect art deco color. No, you're transfixed on that ultra cool electronic stow-away hard top that will make you a hit at plenty of car shows and cruise-ins to come. But there's a lot more to this one, so read on... This classic has had a respray of the factory color Indian Turquoise. It's the perfect '50s color that makes cruising down any Main Street feel like a drive down memory lane. But more than just the color, this Skyliner would not be half as attractive if all of the brightwork was not complete. This is truly amazing because this chrome can be described in acreage, and its all there. It covers everything from the wide front bumpers and cool custom chrome headlights, to the taillights that were obviously inspired by the jet age. Of course the retractable hard top roof is the real reason why this is such a valued classic. It was the engineering sensation of its time, as multiple motors make it look like the trunk is swallowing the roof whole. There's nothing cooler at a car show then when one of these is stopped halfway up so we can all be in awe of this American marvel. With the roof down, everyone can see the sea of turquoise continued on the interior. The seats have been reupholstered during this Skyliner's lifetime. They carry a similar theme to the factory style, except now it has made way for the always cool tuck-n-roll style. The rest of the interior keeps quite close to factory specs too. It's a true '50s design, so there's plenty of stylized chrome running across the dash, door panels, and even between the rear bench seat. It even keeps the original heat/defrost controls, and AM radio. Just like today's hardtop convertibles, having the roof down doesn't mean losing your entire trunk. There is still luggage space in the neat little cave that the stowed hardtop creates. Under the hood is what all Ford people love to see in their '59s. This car is specified to have an H-code, 352 cubic-inch "Thunderbird Special" V8, and that's exactly what's sitting in the engine bay. This one has the added power and reliability of a brand new Edelbrock Performer carburetor, with an electric choke, and electric fuel pump. This motor has the kind of displacement that gives off a muscular V8 rumble from the dual exhaust system. With a three-speed automatic transmission and power steering, this Skyliner is your all-day cruiser. Ford only offered this retractable option from 1957 to 1959, and the final year cars like this one were the rarest, and most refined. You'll get plenty of attention at all the events, and if people start to ask more questions, you'll have restoration receipts and the owner's manual to back it all up. So, don't miss your chance to pick up the ultimate 1950s collectible. This coupe is big, bright, and has a powerful V8. But the most impressive part is that this whole package is much more affordable than its exceptional condition suggests it could be. It's hard not to love the mid-60s Galaxies. The people at Ford made sure that their full-sized car was represented well, with cool design touches like placing the headlights and taillights as far in the corners of the body as possible, so everything looked stretched to the max. This allowed for some seriously large chrome elements such as the full-length side moldings, wide bumpers, and the grille that almost looks billet-style straight from the factory. But take a closer look at all this brightwork. All the major elements and even the right details, like the hood ornament, have all been rechromed. Now this big American can shine as bright as the day it left Ford's Norfolk, Virginia factory. The bold red paint not only gives this a commanding presence on street, but we think it does a great job of emphasizing the sporty style of this pillarless hardtop fastback body. Combine this with the removable fender skirts, and the profile of this large coupe is downright sleek. When a vintage car is cherry red on the outside, we all know the best interior color is a deep dark black. That's why there are new seat covers, new carpeting, and a replaced dash panel, to make sure that this one gets plenty of attention at the car shows. But beyond just appearance, you know you have the versatility to take everyone for a ride in this Galaxie 500, with its wide split front bench, and spacious rear bench seating. And, everyone is comfortable, thanks to features like the factory heat/defrost, and upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo that's hidden below the dash so not spoil the interior's vintage appearance. The driver gets to experience classic American motoring with the intricate design of the vintage steering wheel, and beyond that is the original speedometer that's so wide it seems to need its own zip code. Pop the hood and you'll see that callouts on the fenders were not lying. This correctly has an X-code 352 cubic-inch "Interceptor Special" V8. It has a four-barrel carburetor, and quite nice sounding dual exhaust, so you'll never be have to be without passing power. But really this is the kind of car you can enjoy at a much more leisurely pace. It's a power steering coupe with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. It rides nicely with modern Cooper Trendsetter tires on the bright vintage wheels. So, some of your happiest moments will likely be the trips in between the car shows and cruise-ins. Powerful, beautiful, and affordable this Galaxie 500 has all the right earmarks for an investment, but really you're just going to have fun driving it...that is, if you're quick enough to snatch up this deal. You can simply pull into the car show with this 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner and watch the crowds gather as you operate America's first mass-produced electronic hardtop convertible. Of course because this is a full-size V8 Ford, you can skip the car show altogether and just enjoy the day cruising. Even without its attention-grabbing roof, this coupe/convertible is an attractive classic. The car has had recent respray of its very American color, and you'll get a kick out of telling people that the striking two-tone is Indian Turquoise mixed in harmony with Colonial White. The styling still looks amazing today, with quad headlights and the wide chrome grille up front. There's pristine brightwork running down the side that also provides the dividing line for the two colors. It all ends in a rear end that looks inspired by the original Thunderbird, and a continental kit for that extra long touch of class. Of course the retractable hard top roof is the real reason why this is such a valuable classic. It was the engineering sensation of its time, as multiple motors make it look like the trunk is swallowing the roof whole. There's nothing cooler at a car show then when one of these is stopped halfway so we can all be in awe of this American marvel. Having the roof stowed not only is a cool process, but it also gives everyone a look at the amazing interior. It came from the factory 56 years ago in this same interesting teal, with insets of turquoise and white. The overall impression is a distinctive look that still complements the exterior. It is a true '50s design, so there's plenty of stylized chrome running across the dash, door panels, and even between the rear bench seat. Just like today's hardtop convertibles, having the roof down doesn't mean losing your entire trunk. There is still luggage space in the neat little cave that the stowed hardtop creates. Pop the hood, and you'll see a very nice upgrade. The Thunderbird name on the valve covers is not a liar, because this Galaxie had been given the 352 cubic-inch "Thunderbird Special" V8. This is the full-size Ford's period-correct powerplant for the top-of-the-line in 1959. It looks especially nice with the air cleaner and valve covers painted to match the car body. This motor has the kind of displacement that gives off a muscular V8 rumble from the dual exhaust system. But this is not the car you buy to do burnouts. With a three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering, this Skyliner is your all-day cruiser, and boy is she smooth. Ford only offered this option from 1957 to 1959, and the final year cars like this one were the rarest and most refined. So, don't miss your chance to pick up the ultimate 1950s collectable. 1968 XL Convertible I added the GT lower white body stripes last weekend and they make the car look more aggressive. The XL for those that don't know is similar to a Galaxie, but does not say Galaxie at any location. This makes these cars a bit more mysterious especially at shows. Check out the Marti report. This factory Gulfstream Aqua Paint color car ( this car was repainted) that was born with a 390 V-8 4 barrel Carburetor and a 4 speed ( only 171 cars equipped this way - Deluxe Marti Report with this information and other facts to certify how rare the car is - is included with the car). Video Link including top up and a video of the car on the lift at the shop.- Go to VIMEO and click watch videos and type in: 1968 Ford XL The interior has been tastefully recovered in a grey velour. It was a factory parchment vinyl and if you took it back to that this car would be even more stunning. Car has new within the past year Goodyear tires, gas tank and the heads were redone. The engine is very clean with all new belts hoses and it looks nice with the chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Has a edelbrock 4bbl carb. There is a slight leak in the exhaust manifold where the exhaust flange donut connection is. The horn ring is replaced with two nubs and at this time the horn is not operational. I doubt you will find a more rust free 1968 Ford XL convertible than this one. There is only minor body putty in the rear bottom quarters about 3 by 4 inches in the bottom corners on both driver and passenger sides. The area above the trunk and before the top well also has a bit of putty on either side and it appears smaller than the lower area. No other area have I been able to detect any issues, so you have a very solid car here. Check out the Video showing the floor pans and under carriage and frame. The paint on the trunk is somewhat faded and the remainder of the car is shiny, but has many nicks and chips from a older paint job. White power top that works with a glass rear window - top is old and has many holes and tears and should be replaced. Notice the rear bumper on the left side has a good dent in it and it did push on the trunk lid and buckle it a bit, Trunk closes fine, but do note this area of the car. The car has dummy spotlights on the sides that are in most pictures. The car has adjustable air shocks in the rear and a working Am/Fm CD player in the dash with remote. The hideaway headlights are now operational. We fixed them recently to operate as they were intended to do on the vacuum. They work good and work properly. I like to find cars that are interesting and tinker with them for a while and resell, so here is this neat car that I felt like would be a very interesting rare car to drive now and restore later. I have been driving this a good deal around my area recently. I am the owner. The title is in my name only and it is a North Carolina title that is free and clear. The cool factor is here. With the hidden headlights and the 4 speed you will be cruising in a classy cool ride! Don't miss this one. It is my prediction that you will not be able to find a car like this - with these rare engine /transmission options - for 4 times the starting price in 10 years from now! Feel free to call me for any other pictures or information on the car. Larry 252-916-4367. This 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible is a concours-level car for less than $38K. The Ford Galaxie cars are really starting to come into their own on the classic car market. These cars were truly the full-sized Fords that followed the idea of 'lower, wider, longer' as far as it could even placing the headlights and taillights as far in the corners of the body as possible. The result was a design that was uniquely Ford and uniquely the 1960s. Caspian Blue is one of those dynamite factory colors that was rare when new, and now has matured into a shade that is quite contemporary. Of course it doesn't hurt that we can count this re-spray's age in months. It was part of a full rotisserie restoration that was completed less than a year ago, and the car comes with a full photo book documenting this Galaxie's frame off rebuild. The result is a convertible that has been described as "flawless" by many of us in the office. And the amount spent to get it there is tens of thousands more than the asking price. Inside you'll really know that this car has only had 200 miles on it since full restoration, because it feels like a factory-fresh time machine from behind the wheel. In fact, the carpets are so clean and soft you'll want to take off your shoes before entering. The factory-correct two-tone blue vinyl is intricately amazing, right down to the button pattern in the seats and door panels. A two-tier dashboard puts the speedometer and AM radio up high where they're easy to see, while the secondary controls are in their own pod just below. There's even the correct add-on A/C unit mounted below the dashboard. While it looks period-correct, this is the one part of the car that has been updated during the restoration. Behind the scenes it now runs on R134a for easier servicing. The whole package is topped off (literally) with a new white power folding roof. Pop the hood and you'll see that this big engine bay has been consumed with big block power. This is the car's correct Z-code 390 cubic-inch V8 borrowed from the Thunderbird program. It's been dressed nicely with the chrome air cleaner, but overall it feels exceptionally authentic, right down to the engine decals, and the "Powered by Ford" valve covers. A motor this large has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing this car's cruising attitude. That's really how to view this drop top Galaxie 500. It's a power steering car, with a three-speed automatic transmission and disc brakes up front. So, it has the power to race in between the stoplights every Friday night, but it's really more comfortable taking everyone on to the Saturday cruise-in. You're looking at a vintage Ford that has every feature, including air conditioning for top-down fun in the middle of summer. It's an amazingly restored classic convertible (like new) for less than the price of most new ragtops. It is elegant on the outside, sparkling on the inside, and packs a nice V8 wallop. The Ford Galaxie cars are really starting to come into their own on the classic car market. These cars were truly the full-sized Fords that followed the idea of 'lower, wider, longer' as far as it could even placing the headlights and taillights as far in the corners of the body as possible. This allowed for some seriously large chrome elements such as the wire wheel covers, the bumpers, and the grille that almost looks billet-style straight from the factory. The result was a design that was uniquely Ford and uniquely the 1960s. While we often talks about Wimbledon White as a legendary Mustang color, it was available across the Ford family. So if you liked it on the pony car, you'll love it on this full-size ragtop. Inside is one of the most interesting factory colors you'll ever see. Ford had nearly 100 different trim codes for its full-size cars in '65, and arguably the most interesting of them all is this gold vinyl. As expected from the Galaxie line, this is a big comfortable cruiser where everyone has plenty of room to spread out. Plus, all signs of this bullion-based interior point to it being original. This originality extends to everything on the two-tier dashboard, with the speedometer and AM radio up high where they're easy to see, and secondary items like the heat/defrost controls as part of a pod down below. While the interior color draws nice attention, when the weather turns wet, there is a tasteful black power folding roof to keep you dry. Pop the hood and you'll see that callouts on the fenders were not lying. This car has its correct X-code 352 cubic-inch "Interceptor" V8. Best of all, just like the interior, there are many signs that point to this being the original equipment, and it is all dressed up in attention-grabbing gold. It has a four-barrel carburetor and quite nice sounding dual exhaust, so you'll never be have to be without passing power. But really this is the kind of car you can enjoy at a much more leisurely pace. It's a power steering car, with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. So some of your happiest moments will likely be the trips in between the car shows and cruise-ins. You're looking at a convertible that doesn't use a large stereo or exotic paint to be an attention getter. It's just got many unique pieces wrapped in a powerful and vintage drop top. Best of all, you can go for the gold without having to give up too much of your own stash. This full-size four-door Ford looks vintage and clean on the outside, but underneath is a much more modern blue oval drivetrain, including its fuel-injected V8. Let's start by looking over the outside of this Galaxie. It has all the great long flowing bodywork you love in these full-size Fords. And this is even the rare four-door pillarless fastback sedan body. But take a closer look, and you'll notice a few very interesting elements. The chrome wheels are from a later model Ford. Plus the bumpers are from a 1989 LTD Crown Victoria, and the trunk even has its license plate in a custom recess just like that car. If you think that's interesting, you'll flip over all the other later Ford updates we have to tell you about on this very custom Galaxie. Step inside, and you definitely know that's not a 1960s interior. Yup, it's from an LTD again, with a custom fit of its comfort-oriented interior. This includes the plush velvet-like cloth seats, power front seats, power windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, and ice-cold air conditioning that's R134a for easier servicing. The gray interior looks amazing against the light blue paint, and the finished product is so good that this time warp of an interior really looks like it always belonged in this Galaxie. But even with all of these custom fittings there was room for updates, including auxiliary gauges in the center console, and an AM/FM/CD stereo so you can play modern tunes in your retro ride. Pop the clamshell hood, and you'll see an interesting Ford friend. That is a fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8 motor. It's a superior smooth runner today, and we bet you could even find a substantial list of performance parts if you wanted them. And speaking of upgrades, this Galaxie is actually riding on an LTD chassis too, so that also offers a better ride and a whole new world of catalog parts. But you don't need to do anything to this sedan to have fun. It eats up the highway miles with ease thanks to power steering, front disc brakes, and a four-speed overdrive automatic transmission. Of course you only need to drive as far as your local car show for people to marvel at this combination of the full-size Ford worlds. This Galaxie 500 takes the best sedan body around, and gives it an extremely cool modern update. And we've even got the full restoration photos to take you and your friends on the journey that created this cool Ford (there's also the LTD owner's manual included for a helpful reference.) This is a unique classic, and best of all, it costs much less than a new sedan. This 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL is a road-legal, custom-built tribute to Fred Lorenzen's Daytona 500 winner, and there is no better way to turn heads everywhere you go. NASCAR fans need no introduction to this car. Lorenzen was one of the bravest first heroes of stock car racing, and it doesn't get any better than his coupe in Holman-Moody's fast Ford #28 livery. Chrome is usually king on a 60s cruiser, but this is a whole different animal. The brightwork on the bumpers, headlight surrounds, and grille has been toned-down to show that this racecar means business. If the perfect replica sponsor stickers don't make everyone take notice, the electric blue wheels will. But beneath the surface, there is a lot more usefulness than just a competition appearance. Open the door, and the drilled steel panels are the perfect race-ready greeting to the interior. The toggle switches and full gauges are easily seen thanks to the skinny but grippy race wheel with the Holman-Moody logo in the center. The builder also didn't forget the famous "Think! W.H.M?" slogan (we bet if you read the description this far, you already know what it means). Look at the big tachometer. It just begs for you to grab the t-bar handle shifter and row through the gears. But be careful, this is not a stick shift car. The automatic transmission is the first indication that this racer has some creature comforts. You can take the kids for burgers because you've got a full interior with black vinyl buckets in front, and a bench in back. Plus, there is heat/defrost, a carpeted trunk, and even cup holders for four. But on those nights when you're alone, you can roll down all the windows and everyone at the stoplights will instantly think they are up against a classic NASCAR racer. Another reason why you'll have everyone fooled into thinking that this is a track-only creation is the race-inspired exhaust that lets out a vicious rumble right below the driver's side. But to understand what's making this beastly noise, you have to unlatch the competition hood pins to get a look at the powerplant. This is believed to be the original 390 cubic-inch V8 that came with the Galaxie, but as you can see, its been given some NASCAR-inspired fun. The custom air cleaner is not only larger for the sake of performance, but also the "Bowtie Buster" attitude inspires some friendly competition. Whatever power this car wants to put down at any given time is not a problem, because the stout Ford C6 three-speed automatic transmission should handle it. This also rides on a set of white letter 255/70R15 BF Goodrich TA tires for a nice balance of retro appearance with modern grip. This Galaxie 500 XL can give the impression of an illegal street machine right down to its roar. But we'll give you the original window sticker and restoration/transformation photos to show you how legitimate this classic really is. 1965 Ford Galaxie for Sale 1965 Ford Galaxie for Sale Stock # 3004-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Beneath the elegant color is a slick fastback roofline, and a potent 390 under the hood. It's a true factory muscle car before there were muscle cars. What makes this car look so great is the quality of its restoration that included a nice respray of its original Sunlight Yellow paint. The black vinyl roof gives it the convertible-style appearance, and the pillarless hardtop body backs this up with the same wind-in-your-hair-experience. You'll also appreciate the nicely preserved Galaxie 500 trim, with bumpers that have obviously been restored and a good shine on the stainless. The fastback might have been built to help with NASCAR aerodynamics, but all the trim was still inspired by the jet age, including the chrome fins on the front fender, the hubcaps, and of course, the afterburner taillights on the very tidy rear end. The interior matches the vinyl roof with a cool looking deep black seats with contrasting light piping. Completing this midnight effect are the pristine door panels, dash, and carpet. Of course like any good 1960s car there's plenty of chrome trim to make this dark interior shine. The driver gets the original premium chrome ring wheel. Beyond that is the wide gauge cluster that spans half the dash. It includes a massively long speedometer flanked by two barrel style gauge clusters. While the whole package looks thoroughly factory original, there is one part that is an interesting period-correct add-on. The air conditioning unit on this car is the one you picked out of the Sears catalog in the 1960s, and it's still blowing cold today. Pop the hood and you'll see that callouts on the fenders were not lying. This is the car has its correct Z-code 390 cubic-inch "Thunderbird" V8. Dressed with stunning gold Thunderbird valve covers and a matching air cleaner, it's the ideal early '60s powerplant. A motor this size has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing this car's cruising attitude. Plus, this Galaxie's three-speed Crusie-O-Matic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and modern Hankook tires make the total package quite comfortable going down the road (and seeing that cool A/C unit bolted in adds to the touch). So this coupe is the complete package of fast with class. This is old school luxury and power at its finest. It provides year-round fun and room to carry everyone. With a look like this, and creature comforts included, we dont expect this car to stay in our showroom long. I bought this car about three years ago. It was sitting in a building in South Carolina. The car was bought in Charlotte North Carolina in 67 and spent most of it's life in SC. The car was taken off the road in 1996. I left the inspection sticker on the windshield. The car shows 49000 miles of course it has gone around once. The motor has been gone through and the transmission also. I has a lot of paper work with the car.I replaced the red interior with all new black including carpet. It's clock still works. Has new dual exhaust, brakes ,tires ,shocks and battery. All rubber around top doors trunk and windows has been replaced. I stripped the car down to bare metal and found not one spot of rust or any patch panels. The reason I stripped was the car had been repainted and it wasn't a good job. Somebody sand blasted the trunk lid and warped it. I found a rust free trunk lid in Alabama so I drove there and brought it back home. The car's undercarriage still has the original undercoat. Has a 390cui engine with a c6 transmission. This car has never been abused and has been well taken care of. I left the car in it's pretty much original condition. The bumpers are original. I wanted to feel like a back in the day car not a total restored one that I would be afraid to drive anywhere. I never showed it (been down that road). This is a rare car one that has NEVER HAD ANY RUST IN IT! I have some extra parts that will go with it. I have did total restorations in the past so this is not my first. If you are looking for a nice unmolested classic then you need to consider this one. A $500 deposit require at end of auction. Payment in full 7 days after auction ends. Contact seller for pickup of vehicle. I may be able to deliver vehicle for a fee. Any payments made must be cleared before vehicle or title is released. Car is sold as is where is. It is your responsibility for pick up and shipping.

This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 is an ideal mixture of luxury and performance, with big block power, and cold blowing air conditioning, wrapped in a vintage body built for cruising. Today we are lucky if NASCAR racecars mildly resemble our street machines, but in 1964 Ford truly let the stock car series dictate the styling of their Galaxie coupe. The sloping rear roof, special to this year, might have made the car more attractive, but its true purpose was better aerodynamics on the track. It looks amazing when bathed in this updated maroon paint, especially with all the bright chrome. Owning a Galaxie was about showing off Ford's top-of-the line, and that's seen in great brightwork on places like the three strips that run the full length of the car, surrounding the jet-inspired taillights, and outlining the beautiful hardtop roof. But easily its true hallmark is the front grille with horizontal waves of chrome. It was special to 1964 and looks perfect on this one. Open the door, and this Galaxie is wall-to-wall red to match the exterior. There's no mistaking the premium image on the vinyl bucket seats with chrome backing and chrome trim. In total, it feels like a pristine car preserved from the 60s. The great thing about a hardtop like this is you can look ultra cool when cruising with all the windows down, and thanks to an air conditioning, you can stay ultra cool while doing this on a hot summer day. The A/C mounts under the dash in the same place as the factory unit would, except this has been upgraded to modern R-134a, so servicing it is cheaper and easy. The driver gets a grippy GT steering wheel, and beyond that is the wide gauge cluster with a massive speedometer and a fuel gauge. But as you can tell from the pictures, those are far from the only readouts in this Galaxie. There are auxiliary gauges for power, water, and oil as well as a massive console-mounted tachometer, and they are all clear indicators that there is something special going on under the hood. The 390 cubic-inch big block motor in this Galaxie is famous for powering performance Fords in everything from GT40s to the made for TV Batmobile. Just in case that wasn't a good enough pedigree, this V8 has also been upgraded with an Edelbrock air cleaner, intake, carburetor, and aluminum valve covers. It lets out a truly intimidating rumble from the dual exhaust, and the power hooks to the ground easily through the Ford 9-inch rear end. But, the idea behind the Galaxie is to provide all this speed in perfect comfort. That's why this coupe has a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission and power steering. This is capped off with larger, more comfortable 15-inch wheels utilizing modern Tiger Paw rubber. This Galaxie comes with a stack of restoration photos to show how it was transformed into the perfect classic coupe. Best of all, this vintage blue oval has all the right features, but is priced thousands less than you could even pick up a new full-sized Ford. We are already getting dozens of inquiries about this car as our writeup is being posted. You can always buy a nice Chevy - Like everyone else... You COULD find a cool old Dodge and raise a few eyebrows... Or, you can call RK Motors Charlotte and snatch up this incredible Ford Galaxie! Featured in the August, 2011 edition of Street Rodder Magazine, this unique national award-winner wraps a brutal ROUSH Performance 427 in a modern, Ridetech-equipped suspension, custom-finished steel and supple leather hides. And if you're looking for a fun classic that mixes one-of-a-kind style with top-of-the-line performance, it's the good time you've been patiently waiting for! BODYWORK/TRIM Officially baptized in to the Kustom world by Hot Rods & Custom Stuff of Escondido, California, this super slick Starliner has been carefully finessed and expertly finished to the absolute highest standards. The smooth surfaces that make up the car's sleek profile are entirely comprised of clean sheetmetal that was fully blasted, fitted with fresh rockers, mated to a new trunk pan and laboriously block-sanded. That solid shell shines in a killer coat of custom Raspberry Pearl 2-stage that's been lovingly buffed to a trophy-winning glare. And today, this Ford rolls as one excellent-looking custom that's completely devoid of filler, questionable seams, strange bulges or anything else that might demerit its otherwise superior construction. Beginning in 1960, the Galaxie traded ostentatious '50s bling for the Space Age traits that would eventually define one of the best decades of automotive design. And this coupe, playing on the decidedly minimalist appeal of the street rodding movement, pushes that aesthetic even further. At the front of the car, a custom, color-keyed grille plants custom-mounted headlights between a nosed hood, stainless-trimmed marker lamps and a narrowed, tucked and smoothed bumper. Behind that hood, like-new glass rides inside a filled cowl, straight stainless and capped windshield wipers. Beneath that glass, a flowing, monochromatic profile centers shaved doors between modified rocker trim, classy gun sight fender toppers and first generation Mustang mirrors. And at the back of those doors, correct pillar stars fall on a shaved trunk that caps factory taillights, a color-keyed valance, and a second narrowed, tucked and smoothed bumper. ENGINE How many times have you spotted a racy Kustom, sauntered over to grab a closer look and discovered some lackadaisical '40s powertrain dozing under its hood? No disrespect to 6-cylinder builds or flatty Ford fans, but some enthusiasts value performance more than authenticity. Dyno-ed at 460 rear-wheel horsepower in January of 2009, this Galaxie's ROUSH Performance 427SR twists big compression into rocket-like torque. At the top of the Dart block, a polished and color-keyed air cleaner mixes fresh oxygen with pure fossils in a 770cfm Holley 4-barrel that's seated between a Lokar throttle cable and braided fuel line. That carburetor funnels food through a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, which seats a billet MSD distributor in front of an MSD Blaster SS coil. That distributor is centered between 9mm ROUSH wires, which snake spark around aluminum heads, Wiseco pistons, H-beam rods, a roller cam and a forged 4340 crank. Those CNC-ported heads hang polished and color-keyed valve covers over coated long-tube headers. Charge is provided by modern serpentine components, which spin a PSC power steering pump beneath a Sanden AC compressor. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished Be Cool radiator, which hangs dual electric puller fans behind a custom support that's tied directly in to the car's modified frame rails. Aesthetically, a recessed firewall, smoothed fenders and a fully finished hood make the balanced, blueprinted and Raspberry-coated mill look right at home. And well-planned details, like polished caps, trick dipsticks and ROUSH wire looms are both functional and appealing. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this incredible custom and you'll find a highly modified skeleton that's been completely polished, coated and plated. At the front of the car's modified floors, a Mustang II suspension employs Bilstein shocks, Ridetech air bags and power rack-and-pinion steering. Behind that front clip, a Gearstar-built C6 jerks a Gear Vendor overdrive unit, which rides atop a third electric cooling fan. Behind that driveline, a tough Currie 9-inch spins 31-spline axles, a posi-trac differential and big, 3.73 gears between two more Ridetech air bags. The aforementioned headers roll spent gases through coated pipes that center an X-shaped crossover in front of Flowmaster Hushpower II mufflers. At the corners of that exhaust, polished Wilwood calipers clamp four drilled and slotted rotors. On the outside of those discs, Starliner-branded EVODs spin 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 295/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And everything, from this Ford's Wilwood proportioning valve to its quick Powermaster starter, is decidedly top notch. INTERIOR The car's supple interior, a completely custom creation installed by Armando's Custom Upholstery of San Jacinto, California, highlights modern technology while honoring old school heritage. Plush leather seats, Glide in the front and a custom bench out back, ride on clean Barley carpet that's stretched between LizardSkin floors, color-keyed mats and leather-wrapped sills. In front of those seats, a "Starliner" branded dash anchors rear-mounted Auto Meter Nexus telemetry inside a custom, black anodized instrument panel. At the base of that dash, a custom console centers touch-screen Alpine audio just right of controls for the aforementioned Ridetech air bags. Opposite that console, sculpted side panels hang polished door handles in front of power-operated windows. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped Recaro steering wheel laps a tilting Flaming River column and billet foot pedals. And behind the cockpit, a fully finished trunk features upscale storage space. AWARDS/FEATURES Naturally, a build like this gets a lot of attention. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. As fellow enthusiasts, they are passionate about cars and will treat yours with the respect it deserves.
