You are bidding on a true survivor from the 60's, I purchased this car from the granddaughter of the original purchaser. It is 95% original with the exception of the rear bumper and a water pump I had to put on it. It is a 289 automatic, radio delete, safety driving lite, clock and the XL interior package, this car can be a cruiser just the way it is or restored for a show car, this car is in NO way immaculate it has the normal wear on the paint for something 50 years old, gas gauge doesn't work not sure if it is a sending unit or what car has rock chips and some door dings not bad but there, but all in all this is a very solid car car know rattles or squeaks going down the road very solid when the doors close and everything this car is for sale locally and could end early. Three National Awards - 1 at the 2013 Galaxie Nationals and 2 at the 2015 All-Ford Nationals (Carlisle, Penn), one Class Award and one of the Prestiges "Celebrity Awards" as selected by a FORD MOTOR CO. Executive. Numerous Colorado State Awards ranging from Best of Show to 1960's Class Awards to 1960's Muscle Car Awards. (All Awards go with car) 1 1/2 year Professional Body-Off-Frame Restoration by Fineline Restorations, LLC, Brighton, CO. This car has always been garaged except when driven to Cruise-Ins and local Car Shows. Enclosed Trailered any long distances. Obviously, based on the 3 National Awards, this car is in Concours Condition. Less than 3000 miles since full restoration in 2012. A copy of the Original Invoice indicates that this car is even more Rare due to it's designation on the Invoice as a "Factory Authorized Dealer Street Legal Drag Package" (as opposed to Fords 212 non-street legal R Code 427 Race Team cars.It is my understanding that only 1 or 2 Dealers actually sold a very few of these models. The Invoice shows that it came with the Fibreglass Bubble Hood (in addition to the factory steel hood) and Torque Thrust Rims (in addition to the Factory steel rims and Spinner Hubcaps). All of which are included with the car. Another interesting item is that when you look at the pictures of the Trunk you'll see 2 Batteries, 1 over each of the Rear Tires for better traction off the starting line. I have added Power Front Disc Brakes for driving safety as these cars don't like to make emergency stops at present day 65-75 speeds. Original Vacuum brakes with front Drum brakes can easily be replaced if your not going to drive it or just use it for a Car Collection. I also replaced the 4:11 Positraction rear-end with a 3:73 Positraction rear-end, again for ease in driving to the Cruise-Ins and local Car Shows. Again easily exchanged if desired and both sets go with the car. Discussions over the years with Ford and Galaxie owners indicate that there are only a handfull of these "G" Code models in existence. I personnally have only seen or heard of 3-4 others in the last 10-12 years. At both the Galaxie Nationals and the All-Ford Nationals only one person indicated that he had seen one in person. Some had seen a couple magazine articles on it and most had not even heard of it. As a comparison there were 3000+ "R" Code models produce in 1963. Agreat and desirable car but no where near the rarity of the "G" Code model. If Marty Reports were available in 1963 there would be an even lesser number of my specific car produced based on 1.) about half of the "G" Code models were produced as Convertibles and Box-Tops (square tops) 2.) the majority of High Performance cars were produced with Bench Seats (Galaxie 500) not with Bucket Seats (Galaxie 500XL) and 3.) the rarity of the Rose Beige color making this specific car more like 1 in 10-12 models. Most manufacturers and car buffs consider 1 of 500 or even 1 of 1000 models to be consider Very Rare. Whether you are looking for one of Fords RAREST cars to add to your collection or start a collection or simply want a great car to drive to Cruise-Ins and Car Shows, give this model serious consideration. There Ain't anymore. HOL small 1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible This is a beautiful Silver Blue 66 Galaxie 500XL convertible that has the original 390 4bbl V8 with 3 speed automatic transmission. The odometer is showing 52K miles but the speedo doesn't work and the title states the mileage as Not Applicable. This car is in really nice shape and appears very solid, consistent with a car from out west, and to have been repainted a few years ago. The upholstery and top are new. It has power steering, four wheel drum brakes, power top, and a working AM radio. It rides and drives very well and would make you a very fun weekend cruiser. This absolutely gorgeous 1963 Galaxie 500 XL is equipped exactly how you would expect it to be in that year—Big Block 427 cubic inch engine producing a heart stopping 425 Horsepower, topped off by 2 Holley Dual Quad Carburetors and a Side Loading 4 speed Transmission. Of course there is the 3:25 Tru Trac Positraction rear end! A full restoration was completed about 7 years ago, and although the Monster exhibits nominal “Patina” and wear, it retains its awesome look! The paint was redone earlier this year in the CORRECT Factory Code and is base/clear, and is just exceptional. This expression is way over used, but it truly needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. Pictures just don't do the car or finish justice. Simply gorgeous!! No rust bubbles, scratches, dirt, dings, swirl marks, scratches, or issues. Please take note in the photos of the clarity of the paint as evidenced by the reflections in the background. 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Description – Up for auction is this unrestored original 50,100 mile Southern California black license plate 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL 2 door fastback. It has always been garaged and meticulously maintained, has the XL bucket seats and a center console, but it also has a mid-year, fastback roofline. The turquoise blue/green “Ming Green” paint and interior are still the factory original and so is the optional white vinyl padded top. This Galaxie sports an impressive list of extra cost options and accessories: Thunderbird 390 V8 Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission SelectAire air conditioning Power steering Power brakes Power bucket seat StudioSonic reverb with rear seat speaker Vinyl top Remote control fender mirror Ford script seat belts Spinner-wire-style wheelcovers Mechanically, it is in fine condition. History – This beautiful Galaxie was the pride and joy of Dr. George and Phyllis Carmichael of Long Beach, California. In 1963 George and Phyllis decided it was time for a new car. They were good friends with C. B. Edwards, the owner of Edwards Ford, Inc. in Dallas Texas. He had just the car for them, sitting in the center of his showroom! The Carmichaels flew to Dallas to visit their friend, purchase this Galaxie, and drive it home on a sightseeing vacation. The Carmichaels lived in a beautiful traditional home they built in 1953 in the Park Estates neighborhood of Long Beach, California. This is where the Galaxie was garaged, driven mostly by Phyllis – running errands to the market and shopping, or to spend afternoons and evenings at the Long Beach Yacht Club and of course, the Country Club. Over the years the Carmichaels owned several Cadillacs, which came and went, but they just couldn’t part with their beloved Galaxie. In the late 1990’s, I was driving through the Park Estates neighborhood, when I spotted the Galaxie in the Carmichael’s garage. That was the beginning of a several year courtship that ended in early 2002, as Phyllis had stopped driving by then and George only took the Galaxie out occasionally on Saturday mornings to golf. They were into their 90’s and decided it was time to let the Galaxie go. George called and said “Phyllis and I aren’t getting any younger – come and get your Galaxie!” Phyllis died a few years later and George died in March 2009 at age 101. I have cared for and enjoyed this beautiful car for many years, as did Phyllis and George before me, but it’s now time for a new owner to have the opportunity to be able to enjoy and care for this amazing Galaxie. Stunningly stoic in its presence, you must admit there is nothing quite like the look of an early 60's Ford Muscle Car with its stuck up stance, snorting at you with a "Dual Quad 427 ‘R’ Code Engine". An American rocket glistening in the sun, waxed up, topped off and ready to go... Of course you can smell the high octane pump gas igniting your senses as you twist the key, looking across the flowing hood, your lap belt cinched tight, you release the clutch, your friend next to you tightens his seat belt, if he has one, you romp on the gas, igniting the rear skins. As it gets squirrely, your grin widens as you jam it into second gear! Sit back, relax and take a look at this muscle machine... NASCAR at its Finest! “THE BIG XL” This real deal FORD GALAXIE 500 XL has been fully restored to her Factory Original, very rare, "V" CHESTNUT exterior color and Factory Original "892" MATCHING CHESTNUT BUCKET SEAT, CENTER CONSOLE INTERIOR A car so iconic, so belligerent, so lacking in remorse, that Nascar Officials eventually banned the High Riser Engine! This absolutely gorgeous 1963 Galaxie 500 XL is equipped exactly how you would expect it to be in that year—Big Block 427 cubic inch engine producing a heart stopping 425 Horsepower, topped off by 2 Holley Dual Quad Carburetors and a Top Loading 4 speed Transmission. Of course there is the 3:25 Tru Trac Positraction rear end! A full restoration was completed about 7 years ago, and although the Monster exhibits nominal “Patina” and wear, it retains "the look". The paint was redone earlier this year in the CORRECT Factory Code and is base/clear, and is just exceptional. This expression is way over used, but it truly needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. Pictures just don't do the car or finish justice. Simply gorgeous!! No rust bubbles, scratches, dirt, dings, swirl marks, sand scratches, or issues. Please take note in the photos of the clarity of the paint as evidenced by the reflections in the background The undercarriage is extremely clean, very solid, straight, and rust free. During the restoration, it was cleaned and then painted black. There is Factory Undercoating and that has both good and bad elements: It looks unsightly (but only to the eye and not in the functional sense) but it does protect the car’s underside and is clear evidence that there are no panel replacements! That is to say that, despite its 52 years of gentle aging, there are no shoddy patch panels, holes, soft spots, or issues. The Trunk area is also very solid and looks great. The car rides, drives, and handles like a dream: Straight and smooth down the road with no shimmies, shakes, or vibrations. She’s extremely tight and surprisingly easy to drive with manual brakes and steering. My 427 has nice lines and everything fits and aligns very well--- doors, trunk, hood, etc. A correct, new Solid Chestnut Interior was installed, complete with seat covers, foam, headliner, carpet, door panels, weather strips, rubber, etc, and is exceptional. WHEN YOU SLIDE INSIDE, YOU WILL SWEAR THAT IT IS 1963 ALL OVER AGAIN!!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! All of the lights, turn signals, brakes, gauges, windows, etc are functioning properly, as are the Radio and Clock! You will notice the SUN TACH mounted on the steering column. At time of restoration, every ounce of this car was addressed. All chrome, stainless, and trim was either re-done or replaced. Same for the mechanicals such as brakes, shocks, fuel tank, sending unit( just replaced), wiring, etc. Simply put, this 500XL is turnkey!! Get in, sit down, hold on and drive her home. The real deal 427 “R” Code Engine was built by DAVE SEVERSIKE, a Professional who has been building the Finest, Most Complete, Most Original 427 Center Oilers, Side Oilers, Top Oilers and an occasional “Cammer” for more than 20 years. He is the consummate Guru of Ford FE Engine Building. The Original Big Block, 390 cubic inch “Z” Code Engine gave its life in the pursuit of speed and power, so a REPLACEMENT 427 BLOCK WAS SOURCED FOR DUTY. Here are the Engine Specs: C3AE-AB Center Oiler Cross Bolted Block with NO Welded Repairs: Standard Bore Block that is Date Code Correct “3B12”—February 12, 1963; C3AE-AA Ford/TRW Forged Pistons, running approximately 9.5 to 1 compressions.
