I MAY SELL THIS SUV IN PERSON BEFORE AUCTION ENDS DEPENDING ON WHAT SUV IS GOING FOR AS I'M RECEIVING LOTS OF PHONE CALLS. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DO THIS SO PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND. Please read full description of the vehicle. I have a clean title and the winning bidder must pick up and pay for their own shipment or tow out of here in person. I am located in northeastern Pennsylvania. Also, winning bidder must not try to haggle on price, what you win this for is what you pay. I'm paying eBay $60+ if this sells so take that into consideration please. See all photos and whole text for condition of SUV. You must also pay for title transfer and taxes, I'm coming with you for that but that expense is on you. I will answer all messages on the SUV as fast as I can. Up for sale is a 1998 Explorer XLT, v6 4.0 engine SUV. I am the second owner of this vehicle, I purchased it in 2007. THIS SUV WILL RUN AND BE A DECENT TRUCK IF YOU HAVE THE TIME & KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! I put 90,000 miles on it since I bought it with 138,000. It has sat for about about 2 years and it wants to turn over however it feels like it may need a fuel pump, or maybe there's a clogged line where fuel isn't getting to the engine for a turnover, comes very close however. Last time it was started up and ran for a while was fall of 2014. Someone took the Ford badges off of the front grill, and the other on the back hatch, and they also took off the Explorer XLT symbol. It could have been worse, but I just want to let the buyer know that these pieces were taken off of my vehicle at some point and are missing which makes me mad. The reason it's sitting is just because I'm not sure if the differential or transmission went. I had it replaced (universal joint) a few years ago, that one went, put on another differential, and about a year later it just seems that when I was making turns, either right or left, it felt like the tire was lifting up and it was awkward. In addition to all the weird turning feeling, it seems to have a hard time backing up when it comes to an incline. I don't know if this is the transmission or possible differential issue by it drives which means it's probably the transmission slipping. The engine is fine however, it has 228,000 miles but it only burns about a half a quart in between oil changes. Engine is solid and will run good. I did spend a considerable amount of money in repairs, new wires, new suspension, new brake lines, new front headlight PIAA bulbs, had a recall done which I think was the wiring harness, redid exhaust system in 2011, new refurbished alternator, new battery, BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD, new locking mechanism for back hatch, you name it, I put it on within the last few years and I have paperwork for the various repairs. The 4 wheel drive does not work I do not think, I never messed with it as it is normally forward wheel drive. Think I had new spark plugs and wires installed a few years ago. I have had too many repairs done to remember. Now there is extensive rusting unfortunately, the first owner I don't think washed it whenever it snowed, I tried to maintain it best I could, but there is extensive rust in the wheel wells, especially the back wheel wells, back bumper, and some in the door jams and underneath the vehicle. Rocker panels are rusted. BACK BUMPER IS RUSTED BAD AND HAS A HOLE THROUGH IT. You can get a new or used bumper easily to replace it. The passenger door handle is broke, you need to lock and unlock the truck from the back hatch with the main truck key (new lock was put on a few years ago too). Looks like the steering wheel column or whatever the name of it is underneath the hood, straight metal bar and is pictured on here, is rusted. The SUV steers fine but the part looks shot. There is a dent above driver side front wheel well. If you know how to do vehicle repairs, this one will run for a while if you get it up and going, I wanted this as a project but I just don't have the cash or desire unfortunately. Unless you can somehow get it to turn over here in the yard which you can try, it will need to be towed out. THE RIMS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND LOOK TO BE THE UPGRADED ONES. THE RIMS ARE SUPERB! The interior is in OK condition, nothing's really ripped or torn or missing except the arm rest part of the console which has some rips. Dash is very nice, instruments all work. ALL AIRBAGS ARE INTACT, CAN BE PARTED OUT SUPERBLY. Like I said, the engine seems fine, it always ran well and will continue to do so. I just don't want to scrap it. Half tank of fresh gas is in it, two keys are present with truck plus remote entry and spare factory tire (tire is pictured but has some sidewall dents from it being underneath vehicle for years and not sure if still good but included). Tires have some tread and are all inflated. BUYER MUST COME HERE TO PAY AND TAKE SUV, I WILL NOT SHIP IT! Thank you for looking.
