I found this truck in a rural high desert Washington farm town stored in a barn. This truck had been sitting since the mid 80’s until I brought her to my shop. We have the truck in a running state good enough to load/unload on a trailer, drive up the street under its own power. I’ll describe the major points below, please watch the video and look at the picture link to establish condition for yourself. This is one of if not the most desired model pickup trucks to own. Looks to be original, no signs of rebuild. When we started it for the 1st time since the 80’s it lit right off, no smoke or rattles. Motor sounds like a new rebuild, very obvious to me low miles. The 3 speed transmission has working gears, there are missing parts for the column so we added a make-shift lever to move the truck around. So, we have 1st gear and reverse. The video shows how to operate the truck in detail. Rear end feels good, clutch good, brakes good enough to hold on a hill. Extra parts for the truck pictured are included. BODY The body is in excellent original un-restored condition speaking 60 year old truck. The pictures and video tell the story. The original VIN tag is intact with a matching clear/clean WA state title in my name. I come across cool old trucks in fields and barns once in awhile in my travels, very rarely do I buy them due to no titles. This one has a title, very important, no miles of BS paperwork and problems. If you restore this truck having the original tag title for a 55 truck is very important value wise, the price drops when it’s titled as a 2015 custom build. I bought this truck as you see it for a customer that fell on hard financial times and could not complete it. Thousands have been spent on new parts. This is a total project, the body is incredible rot free condition. If you want to restore a factory short bed 73-79 Ford it does not get any better. MECHANICAL The frame has been media blasted and painted gloss black POR-15. New 6 in suspension lift by Tom’s Bronco Graveyard. New drilled/slotted rotors and calipers, new Hubs, new conventional power steering box, new ceramic coated headers for FE engines, new polished Edelbrock 4 barrel intake for FE engines, new FE Edelbrock water pump and valve covers FE engine. The new Edelbrock carb in pics has been used on another project, NOT included. Newly recovered/foamed seat and carpet kit. Front axle is high pinion Dana 44, rear end is the Ford 9 inch. C6 automatic transmission, part-time transfer case. The motor was removed from a running 2WD truck several years ago, I call it a core meaning it should be rebuild. It’s a FE engine, told 390, have not checked the stroke. Ford motors are much harder to identify than Chevy. BODY The body is in excellent rot free condition. I did not find any rot holes, of course some surface rust in spots. This is one of the cleanest rust free Ford truck from the 70’s I’ve seen. The pictures show well, the underside of cab and bed have been media blasted and linexed. The inside of the bed and inside of new aftermarket tail-gate are linexed. I got this truck in boxes, most of it looks to be there. Items I’m sure are not included are front bumper, the original blue tail-gate in pics (got turned into a bench) as the new tail-gate was linexed to match the truck, the front windshield. I bought a 1979 Ford F150 2WD longbox as parts for this truck. It is all stock with factory AC, all of it there, running/driving truck with a title. I will sell that whole truck with this 76 for an additional $900. Last 3 pics on this add, the 79 only for sale with the 76. The cab/box are bolted to the frame, the rest of it in boxes or loose. I ship cars all over the US weekly, but this will be more challenging. I suggest you pickup this project in person for transport, or hire someone off of U-Ship or other to pick it up. Setting up shipping is completely up to you. I will have my crew M-F 9-5 help you or your transporter load it all up. I will only store this vehicle for 30 days after purchase for free. I hold a clear/clean WA state title in hand in my name for this truck. Papers or truck leave my possession only when cleared payment received in full. This is a real factory HighBoy, I believe 1976 to be the best HB year, you get the disc brake large hub Dana 44, the 390, the best of the HB options, 77 was the last HB year, but got the dog of a 400 motor. This truck is a running/driving project. I’ve owned and sold several of these trucks on eBay, they are the hot ticket, restored versions are fetching quite a premium. I restore cars for a living, I specialize in Land Cruiser FJ40’s, I come across cool trucks like this in rural farm towns, if I have an empty spot on my trailer I buy it and offer them for sale. Large hub disc brake Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear. Divorced transfer case to the manual 4 speed transmission. The motor is a performance built 390. I was told it was built 6 years ago with top-grade internals. Estimated 350HP 400+ ft lbs TQ. This truck screams. BODY Paint is original, there is some rust at the bottoms of the doors, in the bed. The pictures show it well. The cab is in good shape. Frame looks excellent. Rather than pick it apart, check out all the pics on the link. This is a good start at a good price to build a real HighBoy how you want. The HighBoy term is thrown around quite a bit, this is the real deal. I’ve driven the truck 30 miles, that is the extent of my known reliability, no major issues arose, but please understand this is a project vehicle, I would not drive it across the country. Auto restoration shop offers this restored 1975 Ford F100 Custom 4x4 Long Bed pickup. I purpose built this truck for myself, intended to be left at a rural Montana cabin for year round use. The cabin has been sold, so here is the truck for sale. I spent over 24k (my cost) building this truck to be one mean mountain machine. This truck is turn-key, ready for the new owner. I bought quality parts from LMC Truck, spent a fortune on the drive train. I get thumbs up and chatted up at every gas station when driving this. I started with a rust free straight truck from the high desert of eastern WA. 1975 model year is emission exempt in most states including California. This truck was built to be used, but could be proudly shown at any car event. Motor estimated at 350 HP & 425 TQ. Edelbrock electric choke 4 barrel on a 4 barrel intake. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Newly rebuilt automatic C6 transmission with shift kit. High/Low transfer case, 2 or 4 wheel. I built this set-up for low end grunt, but it still raps out quick, incredible power. High pinion Dana 44 front axle with locker. I set this truck up to bust snow drifts, you can have full positive traction up front with both hubs locked in, or drive it in mild 4 wheel drive with 1 hub locked in. The rear end is the famous Ford 9 inch, I left the rear end with open differential. When driving in ice or light snow you do not want a locked up rear end, you will slide all over. With this setup you get max traction and drivability. Heavy duty radiator and trans cooler. We built some heavy duty solid steel Bambi bumpers. In Montana, we run the gauntlet on back roads when it comes to deer and other wildlife. Everyone I know has hit a deer with their expensive truck causing severe damage. I promise….if you hit a deer with this front bumper, the deer will lose, you will have a lot of blood to clean up, but this truck will be just fine. Warn winch with controller, 2 KC lights with covers. Truck can be easily returned to chrome bumpers if desired. We re-wired most of the truck, everything works as it should. 35/12.5/15 BFG KM2’s on aluminum wheels, maybe 200 miles on this set. BODY I started off with a clean rot free straight original Ford truck, we all know what a feat that is to find. No rot anywhere, very little body work needed before paint. Painted a nice dark metallic blue inside and out. The bed is raptor lined, new seals and windshield. All the aftermarket parts are from LMC Truck, they are quality and expensive, no JC Whitney crap. The undercarriage is coated with POR-15, the best stuff available. Decent CD player and speakers. The glass is all good, nothing major imperfection wise sticks out to me, but this truck has been driven so there is a minor rock chip here and there. This is one great sorted out vintage Ford truck. This truck and restore would cost 29-31k at my shop. Take advantage, get a new restoration at a much better price right now with no waiting.
