I have a 1979 Ford Thunderbird Convertible that I have decided to let go. I have about 20 vehicles sitting here and I always think that I will get to them soon. That never seems to happe. In 1979-1981 Detroit did not build convertibles. There was some safety issue they were dealing with. Americans love their convertibles so an LA based shop converted TBirds, El Dorados, Lincolns, Camaros etc. in to open cars. They were not cheap but solved the problem This TBird was built by Custom Coach Works out of SoCal. I looked up the production numbers a while back. I don't remember the exact numbers but there were not many built. This was a barn find. It has been stored since 2001 and has less than 82,000 genuine miles on it! Even with the low miles it needs some attention. It runs and drives great. The top needs to be replaced. The driver side window and power seat do not work. I am sure that it is due to a bad connection. The interior is in very nice shape. The seats and carpet look good as does the dash. The body has no rust but the paint is oxidized. I can not get the heat or A/C blower to work. Again I think that is a connection issue. There are no DMV fees due. I have started the paperwork into my name. It has been out of trhe DMV computer so long that I have to take it in to have it verified. Other than that it is ready to go to the new owner. I am in Sothern California about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I can deliver the car, after it is paid for, for $1/mile round trip. Up to 200 miles or so. If you have questions please contact Dana. Call or text 805 550 8502 I have a number of other cars for sale too. I have included a couple pics at the end. Also there are before pics of the Bird as I found it. There are also available a 1981 GMC ,1986 Fiero V6 and a 1931 Ford Model A roadster pickup 350 4spd please ask! The roadster has a small block Chevy. Blessings! Dana

I am selling a very restorable 1958 Ford Fairlane for a friend. It has a good running 292 CID V8 engine. I put a battery in it and some gas in the carb and it fired right up. It does not pick up fuel from the tank. I added 2 gallons. Maybe it is still too low or needs a fuel pump or the tank is plugged. The owner says the clutch , brakes and trans are all in good shape. The body has no major dents or dings and never has had any. There is very little rust anywhere except in the floors. This car was born red and white from the factory. I bet it looked really sharp! The top goes up and down as it should. Once in a while it needs a little coaxing. All of the exterior trim is present and decent. The passenger side piece that is missing from the outside can be seen in the passenger side of the car interior. It was removed for some reason. Also included in this auction, if you want it, is a 1958 Ford Fairlane 4dr sedan for parts. I have a bill of sale only on the 4dr. It has no engine or trans. Most of the parts will not fit the convertible. The front end, bumpers & dash are the same on both cars but the floors will not work on the convertible repair. The front and rear seats have already been recovered in original fabric. They are very nice. The wide white walls are expensive virgin rubber tires! The guy that owns the car has over $10,000 in it. He knows that he paid too much and is asking $7250 OR BEST OFFER. I live in Southern California about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I can deliver the car, after it is paid for, up to about 200 miles for $1/mile round trip. Please call Dana at 805 550 8502 with any questions.

I have a true barn find 1979 TBird Convertible for sale. This is a car that Detroit never built. For some reason auto makers suspended convertible production 1977-1979. I don't recall what the issue was, but I'm sure you could read up on it. As a result custom car makers converted small numbers of popular US vehicles into convertibles. Many El Dorados, Toronados, Lincolns etc were custom built for customers who were willing to pay big bucks to mess up their hair. I HAVE ALSO INCLUDED PICS OF A 1958 FORD RETRACTABLE AND A 1965 CHEVELLE 2 DR WAGON THAT I HAVE FOR SALE. PLEASE ASK!! THEY ARE BOTH ON EBAY TOO. I read up briefly about these TBird conversions and one of the only conversion companies that I found was American Custom Coach Works out of California. I did not find any production numbers, but have not seen many of these myself. It has been parked since 2001 and has under 82,000 original miles on it. The top, unfortunately, is original 36 year old material and is pretty well beat. The interior has suffered a little bit because of the top, but not bad considering its age. The engine, I believe, is a 351 Midland, but I could be wrong. It has a 2 barrel on it. I will try to verify the engine size soon. The transmission shifts great. Brakes work well. The battery I pulled out of one of my other cars is only 2 years old and Heavy Duty. The exhaust system is intact no leaks. She does not overheat, smoke or miss. The body is straight no dents or dings even small ones. The paint is cosmetically challenged it is a cheapy repaint and is kind of dull. I have not tried to buff it out because there are a few places around the trunk that have peeled off and are missing. Seems kind of pointless. Doors, hood and top open and close well. Electric trunk release works great, good thing because I don't have a key for the trunk. The trunk lid will not stay up on it's own. I think that the convertible top folds down into the trunk well where the mechanism to keep the trunk open should be located. The headlight doors will not stay closed due to a broken plastic vacuum manifold connection. Hopefully Darrel can fix that also. The interior is surprisingly decent. The dash has no cracks. The door panels are nice as are the carpets. The seats are in very good shape upholstery wise. No rips or tears. No stains. The worst part of the interior is the steering wheel has some cracks in it and the radio and headlight knobs etc have the chrome plating discolored. The radio does not work, but the clock does and it keeps good time. As I mentioned before the electric drivers seat. drivers window, A/C, heat do not work at this time, but will be looked into on Saturday. I have included pics of the TBird at the impound yard right after it came out of the barn. It was looking pretty sad, was filthy and did not run. Several days later and with a much higher balance on our credit card she runs and drives, is clean and is much happier. I am asking $3,250.00 as my Buy It Now price but will take a little less than that as I paid quite a bit for her, spent a lot on rehab and traveled over 300 miles to get her home. I definitely wanted to save this old TBird from the elements sitting 102 degree heat of the California Valley outside after spending all that time in the barn. I live in Southern California 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I have a car trailer and can deliver her for $1.00 per mile round trip up to 200 miles or so. You may call or text me at (805) 550-8502 or message me here. Blessings Dana

This is a great old car! I had one 20+ years ago. Yellow and white. The top would not work because it was so rusty. I thought that this one, which is supposed to be red and white, would be a much better restoration candidate. Most everything is real nice except the floors. They are very rusty. It runs and drives well. The top and all of the solenoids work great! The top goes up and down almost flawlessly! Also included in this auction is a 1958 Ford Fairlane 4 door sedan. Most of the parts will not fit the convertible but the grille, parking lights, hood bar, bumpers etc are all in better shape on the 4 door. The 4 door has no running gear or suspension. It has the front clip, doors, front/rear windshields, trunk lid etc! You can take what you want and leave the rest if need be. I see decent driver quality retractables for $22,000 or so. If you are any kind of body man you can repair the floors in a couple of weekends! The car is actually in the body shop now but the shop has two years worth of our projects in front of this one.Better to let it go for someone else to love. I am in Southern California 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I do have a car trailer and can deliver up to 200 miles or so for $1 per mile, round trip. My cell number is 805 550 8502 if you need to call or text me questions. Blessings! Dana

I am relisting my 1958 Ford Fairlane 4 door sedan due to my buyer flaking out on me. I was going to place it on to a 2002 Crown Vic chassis. We were going to build this to look as if it was a junk yard refugee/barn find. It would be a real sleeper with that powerful, newer, injected motor and AOD trans! I have way too many projects and ended up selling the Crown Vic instead. This was a 6cylinder 3 speed manual car. The engine and trans are long gone. The rear end is gone as well but the leaf springs are still there. Most of the front suspension is gone too as we were going to use the Crown Victoria front end. There is rust in the bottom of both front fenders and in front of both rear wheels, in the 1/4 panels. There is some in the roof on the driver's side and in the hood. I have documented that in the pics. The body is pretty straight, other than the rust. No major dents or dings. Floors are solid. I think that there is no rust in the doors. The bumpers are both decent as is the grille. The front clip is unbolted and comes off in one piece. I just set it back on for the pics. I would like to sell the whole car but may part it out if I can sell enough of it. That would be too bad though as it is mostly there. NO ONE WANTED THE ENTIRE CAR SO I WILL SELL PARTS. FENDERS $150 EA BUMPERS $100 EA WINDSHIELDS $100 EA DOORS $100 EA GRILLE $100 TRUNK LID $100 INNER FENDER WELLS $50 EA DASH/GAGUES ETC $100 FLOOR PANS/ROOF/QUARTER PANELS/LEAF SPRINGS/FRAME & MORE PLEASE ASK I am in Southern California about 90 minutes North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I do have it listed on CL locally too. I am happy to assist in loading the car or I can deliver it for a fee. Thank you for looking! Blessings!
