Up for auction is a beautifully restored 1974 Ford F350 Tow Truck with a Holmes 440 bed. This wrecker has been in Texas its whole life, having been originally bought new in Kerrville and working in the Central Texas area entirely. I found this truck retired in San Antonio and brought it to Austin for restoration. The truck was originally a 360-2V truck but at some point was upgraded to the current 390-4V engine. The original T-18 4-speed trans is in place with a new LUK clutch. The rear-end has 4.10 gears. Vintage Motorola two-way radio is in place, but just for show. They don’t use those anymore so you wouldn’t be able to talk to anyone, anyway. The power light and transmit light do operate for a realistic feel. The period correct Federal Twin Sonic light bar works perfectly. New paint, newer model seat (from a 1995 F150), all new rubber seals and floor mat. It’s in excellent mechanical condition, always starts right up. It leaks a little PS fluid, otherwise totally solid underneath. PS, PB as original. Every Ford FE motor leaks around the exhaust manifolds eventually, but the gaskets have already been replaced on this one so no leaks. The bed is coated with black bed liner. The boom and winch works (as shown) so you can haul vintage cars and trucks if you like (even comes with J-hooks and chains) but this truck would be an excellent advertisement for your towing company or a parade truck. I always wanted a tow truck since I was a kid. Now in my 50s, I have finally made my dream come true. Now it’s time for someone else to make their dream come true as well, just the hard work is already done. I’ve had this truck for several years and did all the work (except for paint) myself, so I know this truck inside and out. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have. Too many dang trucks at my house! For Sale is my 1991 Silver Anniversary Bronco with 1988 7.3L NA IDI motor and ZF5 tranmission. Runs great, starts right up, ZF shifts very well. Has had one repaint at the Ford dealer in Houston (correct Currant color) but the clear coat is starting to fail on the hood and roof. It has one rust spot on the roof about the size of a quarter (see pic) right by the drip rail, it has not broken the paint yet and has been like that for several years, so I just leave it alone. Other than that the truck is totally rust-free. It does have the roof cracks like all 1980-up Broncos, but those are not rusted. Here's a list of stuff replaced or upgraded, as my memory would allow:- All new A/C system underhood with R134a refrigerant- Rebuilt injector pump and injectors- New Beru glow plugs plus all new GP wiring- New 2/0 battery cables and new gear reduction starter- Front seats recovered with correct color/pattern vinyl- LUK single-mass flywheel and clutch assembly- New BFG 33R12.50x15 tires- New Summit Racing 15x10 wheels- New radiator, belts and hoses, correct anti-freeze with SCA- Saginaw PS pump conversion- Carrier electric lift pump- New shocks- 2” lift in front, 1” in back- Alpine stereo with Polk speakers- New brake hoses- New vacuum pumpIt still has it's correct Silver Anniversary floor mats and spare tire cover. This thing was built for mileage so it has 3.08 gears and big tires. It's not for grunt pulling but it does knock down 20 MPG. It only turns about 1500 RPM at 60 MPH.This truck was originally a 302 with E4OD transmission but I converted it to diesel using a 1988 F250 donor truck with about 150K miles on it. I used all the correct Ford wiring and mounts and such, you would really have to know your Fords to see that it is not factory.
