The original completion color was "Rosso Rubino Metallizzato" color code, 106-R-83 which translates to Ruby-Red Metallic. The interior was "BEIGE VM3218" or tan and it was fitted with Daytona style, black seat inserts. Additional options included power windows and air conditioning. The original owner owner who purchased it new in Los Angles is not know at this time. He retained this Dino until 1980. In 1980 it was acquired by Los Angeles based collector Ira Jay Boren. At his time of purchase the car showed 21,200 miles. He kept the car until 1986 when it was purchased by Claremont, California collector, Gene Zettle with 29,000 miles. During his ownership the car was stripped and repainted to the current fly yellow and an all new dark gray and black interior fitted as well as having optional wider Campagnolo light alloy wheels fitted. In 1996, now showing 34,000 miles, the car was sold to a private museum collection in Japan from where it was purchased in January 2013 by our company with 43,163 miles showing on the odometer. It was sold to a local Southern California Collector who carefully and meticulously serviced this vehicle without consideration for time or expense but sadly rarely drove this lovely Dino. It was recently traded back to us when he purchased a Porsche 959. All services and safety checks are completely current and up to date. New, no-time, no-use tires have just been fitted and this documented and verified "all matching numbers" Dino is sold without a spec of rust or any signs of accident damage past or present. All services and safety checks are current and up to date and this delightful Dino is ready for all manner of enthusiastic enjoyment. More than 100 high resolution inspection photos can be accessed by contacting me. Please email, ring or call me to arrange for inspections and test drives. I can also easily and happily assist with any manner of world-wide, door-to-door shipping. The Dino commemorated Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredino, who died tragically young. A gifted engineer at the time of his death, Dino was working on a new V6 engine which would power Mike Hawthorn to the 1958 World Championship. It became traditional to call any Ferrari powered by a V6 a 'Dino' and they would distinguish themselves in F1, F2 and sports car racing. In 1967 the first road car was produced using a 2 litre V6 206 Dino. However, this did not sell well as it was underpowered compared to the V12 cars. In 1969 the 2.4 litre engine with 195 BHP and improved torque was used, which gave the 246 Dino a top speed close to 150 MPH, with a chassis that came from Ferrari's race breeding. It was one of the quickest cars available to get from A to B on winding roads, and in 1972 the 246 GT was refined and the GTS (Spyder) was introduced. This GTS version was sold new on Oct 09 1973 at Hollywood Sports Cars, Hollywood California, and was then sold to Switzerland in 1989. The car was then purchased and re-imported into the USA in 1999 for a collection.
