HERE IS A 1959 EDSEL CORSAIR 4 DOOR HARDTOP ONE OF 1674 PRODUCED ONLY 1-2% WERE ESTIMATED TO HAVE BEEN MADE WITH ALL OF THESE OPTIONS WHICH MAKES THIS EXTREMELY RARE THAT IS THE SOLE REASON I PURCHASED THIS CAR JUST FOR IT'S RARITY OF OPTIONS FEATURES;POWER STEERINGPOWER BRAKESPOWER SEATPOWER WINDOWSTINTED GLASSTOWN & COUNTRY RADIODELUXE HEATER336 V8 ENGINE3 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONCONVIENIENCE PACKAGE (hood and trunk lighting)WINDSHEILD WASHERELECTRIC WIPERSDASHPAD (not present)SPINNER HUBCAPS (not shown)FENDER SKIRTSSINGLE TONE PAINT (light aqua) most all were two-toneIN ALL OF THE YEARS I HAVE BEEN INTO EDSELS THIS IS THE ONLY 59 I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS WITH ALL OF THESE OPTIONSA FRIEND OF MINE SAID THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SPECIAL ORDER FOR AN EDSEL DEALER TO USE IN THEIR SHOWROOM FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES TO DEMONSTRATE THE AVAILABLE OPTIONSHERE'S A CHANCE TO ACQUIRE ONE OF THE RAREST 59 EDSELS CONDITION ;CAR IS VERY SOLID UNDERNEATH AND HAS VERY STRAIGHT BODY WAS NEVER WRECKED THE CAR DID RUN AND DRIVE WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND IT DID HAVE AN INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET LEAK AT THE REAR SO I BOUGHT A NEW SET OF FEL-PRO GASKETS BUT I JUST NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO INSTALL AT THE TIME SO THEY ARE IN THE TRUNK AND GO WITH THE CAR ALSO SINCE IT HAS BEEN STORED FOR A FEW YEARS YOU IT WILL NEED A BATTERY AND YOU SHOULD ASSUME IT WILL NEED A FUEL PUMP AS WELL. 1959 Edsel Corsair Convertible I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer. The Ford Motor Company introduced the Edsel brand in 1958 and had high hopes for its success. It was available in versions based on both the large Mercury and smaller Ford Bodies. Unfortunately for Ford and Edsel, the brand was a commercial failure due to several reasons, such as a weak economy and sagging mid-priced cars sales. For 1959, the Edsel line was simplified and the up-level Mercury-based models were no longer offered and prices were slashed. Unfortunately, this was too little, too late, as sales continued to fall from 68,045 in 1958 to 44,891 in model-year 1959. The Edsel line was quietly dropped before the end 1959 calendar year, after only a few 1960 models were assembled ... During its brief lifespan, the Edsel brand was able to acquire a cult following and had became one of the first collectible cars of the Fifties! Even today they remain one of the most recognizable automobiles of all time.This particular 1959 Edsel Corsair Convertible is painted in the numbers matching color of solid President Red (Code FF). It has traveled only 53,465 miles and has Edsel's biggest 1959 engine, the 361 cubic-inch, 303 horsepower 'Super Express' V8. Mated to the engine is a 'Dual Power' three-speed automatic transmission. The base price without options was $3,072.00 and there were only 1,343 Edsel Convertibles built in 1959. Less than 100 remain today! This car is completely original and has won trophies at many of the local shows (including the Gold Class Trophy at a local Edsel show). The engine idles well and makes good power. The transmission shifts smoothly. The car will get down the road and flow with modern traffic effortlessly. Steers and stops very well. Drives very straight down the road with no unusual vibrations, pulling, noises, etc. All of the gauges work, the radio and clock are currently non-functional. The top now operates manually. Both doors open and shut with a thud and the trunk/hood open and close easily. Truly a pleasure to drive! It is ready to drive and enjoy right away. This Edsel is a beautiful car and a true automotive work of art. It is a good original car that has been painted and restored ONLY as needed. The exterior paint is very good. Very nice interior with a good looking dash and steering wheel. The engine compartment and trunk compartments are very clean. Very nice glass all the way around.
