1966 Dodge Polara 2dr Convertible, 383 4bbl, Automatic 383 4bbl (Originally 2bbl), Edelbrock aluminum dual plane intake and 4bbl carb w/ electronic choke, MOPAR electronic ignition with orange box. Assembled at the old Belvedere, IL assembly plant. 727 3 speed automatic, column shift. 8 3/4 rear All numbers match (with exception of intake and carb), Original Certicard included. I did find Build sheet intact in rear seat back, but left in place as I did not want to damage, but it is there and in one piece. Also have original owners manual in excellent condition. Originally dark metallic blue, re-painted by previous owner with light blue metallic. Definitely no where near show paint, but is presentable and fine for a driver. The light blue paint really offsets the dark blue top and works well with the two tone interior. Dash is fantastic. Dash pad is excellent shape for its age. If you look very closely you will see some small "spidering", but no splits or cuts and is soft. All gauges work properly. Chrome bezels are worn, but that is normal. Original AM radio works w/ a new replacement speaker. All dash lights, knobs, switches, buttons all work correctly and are in very good shape. Dash wiring harness is excellent, soft not brittle, and un-molested. Has under dash map/entry light, both ashtray and glove box courtesy lights. Glove box door opens and closes properly and is lockable. Trunk courtesy light also works properly. First thing I did when I bought this car was remove the heater box and totally rebuild it. Totally taken apart, housing washed, motor cleaned and tested, all inner metal door flap's blasted and re-coated, all new replacement seals/gaskets. I had to find one replacement vacuum pod as one was bad. There are two that operate the two flaps inside the heater box. I rebuilt the vacuum heater controls and they function like new and light up very nicely at night. The fan speed switch and temperature slide control work excellent. The cables were cleaned, lubed and re-installed. Heater core was good and I did have it pressure tested and checked out fine. Both defrost ducts are connected and function properly. Two tone blue interior on seats. Bench front. Original material with some separation at seams in some spots. New Dark blue carpet (by previous owner). Two tone lt and dk blue door panels match the seats. Rear passenger convertible hard plastic panels are in great shape and have the original ashtrays and bezels. Front and rear door pads are original and in very good condition, and the C-body rear convertible arm rests are hard to find. New Dk. Blue convertible top with correct plastic rear window. Whoever installed this top did a very nice job. Convertible top frame is excellent and I can tell was re-painted at time of top replacement. Top latches are in great working condition and I have not had to adjust, but are adjustable. Chrome on the latches is also very nice.Convertible top hydraulic lines, pump and motor all in excellent working order. I took a picture with the back seat removed so you could see this area with all the components. Convertible top parade boot also included. I think this is a new boot cover probably purchased or made at time of top replacement. Sun visors are original and excellent shape. The convertible only rear view day/night mirror is fantastic shape and glad because they are hard to find in good shape. 8/2007 - Heads were gone through completely by previous owner (I have receipt). Hot tanked, complete valve job, hardened seats, bronze valve guides, refaced valves, new freeze plugs. Trans fluid, filter and gasket also changed at this time. Rear gear also replaced at this time with ring and pinion supplied by the previous owner. I have not checked the actual ratio, but they are at least 3:23, possibly 3:55's. New axle bearings and seals also installed along with fresh gear oil and sure-grip additive. Rear U-joint was also replaced at this time. Motor bottom end not touched, never been out of car. Motor runs fantastic. Cools great and can idle in hot weather with no issues. Pump accelerator couple times if been sitting for a while and fires right up, choke idles up nicely and motor will kick down with a tap of the accelerator. Idles great, no misses, absolutely no smoke during start-up or driving. No leaks from motor or trans. Valve covers are a later darker MOPAR blue, but are the original valve covers.. they were probably sprayed when the heads were done. You can still see the original turquoise paint in a few places. Motor isn't freshly painted, but is clean. Original "log" OEM exhaust manifolds with 2 1/2 inch aluminized dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Exhaust job was done very well. Both tail pipes exit out the rear but do not have any tips (See picture). Trans shifts smoothly, no noises or slips. Goes into gear with no issues, motor idles fine when in gear. The body on the car is in overall good condition, THERE IS bondo/mud in the bottom rear quarters.. I just want to be completely honest. I ran a magnet all over the body and those were the two spots where it would not stay w/o holding. The fenders, doors, hood, rockers, decklid, tail panel and majority of the rear quarters are very nice. I bought this car from a dealer and I think this was being used as a parade car, but was being driven in any case. I bought for the same reason, to drive and enjoy the convertible top down. Floor pans look very nice. I have one picture you can see of the rear floor pans with the back seat out. Very nice, original paint, no scale. All panels line up nicely. Doors, hood, and trunk open and close fine. Underneath of car is very clean, and I have not spotted any rust or rot on the frame rails. Not saying there isn't some surface stuff, but no heavy rust or rot through. The Polara has power drum brakes with an updated dual master cylinder and booster. Brakes work very well. Front end rides well, but the bushings, ball joints definitely need to be replaced. I bought the following OEM MOOG front end replacement components: Upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings, pitman arm, The idler arm appears OK. I did not purchase tie rod ends or strut rod bushings. Sway arm bushings could probably be replaced also, they are not costly. Tires are 14" magnum 500 steel rims with beauty rings. I am sure these were put on at sometime during the cars life. The tires are white wall with plenty tread. Spare in trunk is also steel Magnum 500 with same type tire. Original Jack and lug wrench. Front and rear bumpers are in excellent condition, never damaged and the chrome is still presentable and they shine fine for a driver. Grille is in excellent condition. All exterior lights work properly. I removed the rear taillights, polished the lenses and clear coated and also blasted and painted the housings with appliance white paint and re-installed with new aftermarket replacement gaskets. They shine much brighter now when lights are, blinkers and/or brakes. Front windshield was replaced and is in very good condition with tint at the top. All side glass is in excellent condition and roll up and down just fine. The glass "whiskers" need to be replaced. I did not get around to doing this. I did lube all the tracks though. All the interior handles are in very good condition, the door opening handles on outside and inside do have pitting. The vent window handles work nicely... they open with a smaller handle you turn like the side glass. I replaced the drivers side vent window mechanism as the original was stripped. I have a spare for the passenger side as well that comes with the car. The remainder of the stainless and anodized trim is in very good condition. I also have a brand new engine compartment wiring harness specifically for this car and motor. I have not installed yet, but does come with the car and is pre-wired for the MOPAR electronic ignition. I have a new set of Champion plugs for this motor and come with car, but have not installed because the ones in the car are still very good. I am sure I missed something, but wanted to give all potential bidders/buyers a good idea of the overall condition of the car. It is NOT my intent to mislead anyone regarding anything about this car. I am an open book, completely honest and will answer any questions honestly. So please by all means contact me through ebay with any questions. This is really a nice convertible. It is as I said a presentable driver and is in mostly original condition with the exceptions of the items mentioned above. As stated, with the installation of the supplied front end suspension components, the car will drive much better. It isn't terribly loose right now, but I am sure most of the components are original and need to be replaced. Note: I currently have the windshield washer hoses and squirter nozzles removed... they will be re-installed upon purchase. Washer motor works fine. I have the hoses and nozzles off to clean them.
