Free from all the nonsense add-ons that have increasingly clouded our driving experience for the better part of five decades, the car is tailor-made to be one of the most exclusive and uninhibited classics on American roads. And in addition to highly desirable aesthetics that are the direct result of a 15-year, $100K restoration, it features original Hemi power that's backed by an original TorqueFlite 3-speed and correct Hemi suspension. If you're in the market for some incredible investment grade muscle that's poised to rise in value, here's your next prospect! BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a 15-year, $100K restoration that was completed in the Summer of 2015, this fully sorted Dodge mixes killer street presence with classic MoPar attitude. That reboot began with a partially restored body that was sandblasted all the way to bare metal. That metal revealed a solid fuselage that, after the addition of a new trunk pan and a few patches, was massaged and block-sanded into a collection of virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, their all-business demeanor was reanimated in smooth 2-stage that reflects correct Bright Blue Metallic pigment. And today, the car rolls as one lust worthy classic that's ready to show AND go! Every bit of this B-Body's bright ornamentation appears straight and presents well. And while it's really hard to determine whether all those baubles and bolt-ons are original, they certainly look nice! At the front of the car, a restored grille hangs a bright "R/T" script between four halogen headlamps, a clean chrome bumper and crystal clear parking lights. Behind that grille, correct fender-mount turn signals frame a silver-detailed hood that flows to a factory antenna and satin-finish windshield wipers. Behind that hood, correctly tinted glass founds pristine stainless trim beneath correct drip rails and a correct driver's mirror. Below that glass, a sculpted profile anchors traditional Chrysler door handles and dent-free rocker guards between small "HEMI" emblems, bright "R/T" scripts, small marker lamps and fresh wheel frames. And at the back of the car, a satin valance hangs ornate taillights and another "R/T" script between polished exhaust tips, a second chrome bumper and a correct bumblebee stripe. ENGINE Toss this coupe's light hood and you'll find an original, 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 that's authenticated by a famous 2468330 casting number and matching partial VIN. As Plymouth's top option for power hungry gearheads, Chrysler's legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a glossy, Hemi Orange block that hangs attractive, Organisol-coated valve covers over correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds. A perfect mixture of fuel, and oxygen is supplied by a polished and decaled air cleaner, correct Carter carburetors and a correct aluminum intake. Compression is sparked by Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, snapped onto a correct points distributor. And resultant combustion is cooled by a big, 26-inch radiator that's fitted with pliable hoses via old school squeeze clamps. Visually, the body-matched engine compartment is clean and predictably impressive. Thanks to the car's thorough rebuild, the big mill performs just as well as when it rolled out of the showroom. A roster of correct and restored details includes items like factory decals, a familiar Chrysler washer reservoir and a reproduction MoPar battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Slide under this solid B-Body and you'll find a virtually spotless chassis that's framed by original factory undercoating. At the center of those bones, an original A727 TorqueFlite, which hangs a correct PK2801544K part number beneath a matching partial VIN, spins power to a correct 8.75-inch axle. That spirited driveline rides in a correct, completely restored Hemi Suspension, which is fitted with correct power steering. Stops come courtesy of correct heavy-duty power drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by upgraded, 3-inch tubes, which bend around an H-shaped crossover and brash Flowmaster mufflers. And everything rolls on Bright Blue Metallic steelies, which twist correct F70-15 Goodyear Speedway redlines around brilliant fratzog center caps. INTERIOR Swivel this Dodge's level doors and you'll find a correct White on Blue interior that's functional, straightforward and very livable. Correct, headrest-free seats are wrapped in pliable vinyl covers that display hardly any signs of wear. Between those seats, a correct console, complete with an ornate shifter, surfs stain-free carpet that's protected by color-keyed, "R/T" branded floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, white door panels look sublime inside correct, Light Blue Metallic frames. In front of those panels, a modernist dash seats sweeping telemetry and a correct tachometer next to a familiar Dodge Solid State. In front of the driver, a glossy steering wheel laps a satin horn bar. And behind the passengers, a nicely finished trunk hides a correct jack and spare tire between a plaid mat and new decal. HISTORICAL INFORMATION Since our sale includes both an original Broadcast Sheet and an original fender tag, there's no questioning this Coronet's highly accurate restoration. It's not just the big V8, or the valuable options. This one gets you with the details, like unique paint that shows off all the square-jawed angles we all love on this piece of American muscle. White is particularly nice when it's done correctly. The respray of the factory color leaves this coupe looking clean and pristine. Dodge really got the design right in '66. This classic has a wide stance that can make this intermediate look full-sized. There's plenty of style touches like the creases along the side that flare out on the quarters, and that cool taffy-pulled rear end that couldn't space out D-O-D-G-E any wider if it tried. Best of all, a subtle custom pinstripe package helps highlight every aggressive thought that was sculpted into the sheetmetal. The interior design proves that the Chrysler stylists were at the top of their game in the '60s. This is further highlighted by a professional restoration of the headliner and intricate seats. In between the front buckets is a center console with the highly stylized gearshift. There's a dashboard full of real gauges, not "idiot" lights (a nice upgrade), and a grippy steering wheel like the three-spoke style usually seen the Hemi muscle cars. But this one is built for comfort, that's why it has everything from heat/defrost, to power steering. There's even plenty of desirable spares (including a correct AM/FM radio) that come with the car. The 440 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is not the original motor, but the swap was for a very good reason. This was built with a 318 and sold to a doctor who made rural house calls. The original engine failed on him in 1967, and so he figured while the car was being fixed, he'd have a factory 440 motor installed. The engine proved to be strong and reliable enough that this is the powerplant still in the car today. In 1997 this Coronet went through a restoration that overhauled the engine, and included a new cam, chain, bearings, and rings. It now makes an awesome rumble from a Flowmaster dual exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission was also rebuilt, and they added a 2,800 RPM stall converter. But this restoration went much further. It included an entire fuel system upgrade, new brakes, new driveshaft, and a 3.23 ratio Sure-Grip limited slip read end was installed. It goes down the road nicely thanks to new brushings and Hemi-sourced torsion bars. This package is capped off with the larger 15-inch cop car wheels, with dog dish ventilated hubcaps. You know there were fewer of these MOPARs produced, compared to the Fords or Chevys back in the 60s. That makes this quick coupe a rare gem with an interesting story. Now all you have to do is stake your claim to it before someone else sees how affordable this Coronet coupe is. Yes, this 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T has actually traveled less than 20,000 miles in its lifetime. Now is the chance to get your hands on the possibly the best surviving Mopar that has barely seen the road. The Chrysler B-bodies of this era seemed to follow a variation on Theodore Roosevelt's adage of, "Speak softly but carry a big stick." This coupe has a wide and dominating presence, but it doesn't use big ornamentation to show its aggression. Instead, it carries a simple wide chrome bumper that looks like the huge grin of a man who knows he can beat up every last person in the joint, but he'd rather just enjoy his beverage... for now. This same attitude is easily seen on the only real modification of the car, a protective respray of the factory silver paint. It looks nice from across the show field, but the closer you get, the more you notice the hint of sparkle and how this highlights the sheetmetal that's gone unmolested for 47 years. A car this cool couldn't hide all of its street-eating nature, and so the Super Bee-inspired quad strip was added. Plus, you know this car draws blood with its standout red color reserved only for the original R/T badging and redline tires (originals included). The upscale black bucket seat interior looks as fresh as the day this pillarless hardtop left the St. Louis factory in 1968. It comes with plenty of the desirable options like the center armrest and AM/FM radio, but what you'll really notice are the performance-oriented upgrades. Your right hand gets to grip a four-speed manual transmission. Your left hand gets the wood-grained three-spoke steering wheel. Your eyes are keeping track of the full Rallye gauge package, including the tic-toc-tach. We don't have enough space to describe how excited we get when we see a numbers-matching 426 cubic-inch Hemi V8 under the hood. No matter how stout this powerplant is, these motors were often eaten up by making a hard living in-between the stoplights on Saturday nights. Instead, this Coronet R/T carries just about every original nut and bolt because no one ever abused this one. The key to this preservation is this silver bullet might be nearly half a century old, but it has traveled only 19,871 documented miles (averaging less than 425 miles per year!). Beyond the rare motor, this coupe is desirable for being great on the road. Besides the abovementioned four-speed manual, this one still has appealing performance features such as the original factory dual exhaust and mufflers, coilover suspension, and a Dana 60 Sure Grip (limited slip) rear end running a versatile 3.54 ratio. This is the Mopar that steals the show, no matter if it's a survivor category, or just straight out American muscle. When you buy this Hemi Coronet R/T it comes with a host of original parts as well as a ton of documentation (literally a suitcase full), including the original window sticker, factory build sheet, dealer invoice, bill of sale, owner's manual, and warranty card. Every license plate ever on the car is even included. This car has been cared for and recognized for its uniqueness enough that there were also meticulous maintenance records kept, and it's Galen Govier documented. Yes, you've found the Holy Grail Mopar, but act fast because this is no longer a secret. The 1970 Dodge Super Bee is rare, fast, and has one of the most unique styles to come from Detroit's days of street domination. The styling for 1970 was pretty unique for this one model year. The super-hot Super Bee packaged muscle cars had a seriously mean appearance with the wide dual grille, that truly looked a bit like bumble bee wings. These separated grilles were the perfect complement to the optional hood with dual Ramcharger scoops. Straight bodywork is especially critical on the fuselage styled cars, and you can see from the unbroken curves on this one's flanks that the bodywork was done well. These Mopars had a long list of fun and funky paint options, but arguably none were better than this Sub-Lime green that nearly glows in the dark. It looks great today thanks to a restoration with only a couple hundred miles on it. This one has all the great details, such as the Super Bee black striping, rear spoiler, aggressive red rear panel surround, and the Super Bee mascot properly placed all around the coupe. Black is beautiful, and that's what this interior offers. The driver and passenger get high back vinyl bucket seats that are a nice reminder that the Dodge Coronet that the Super Bee was based on was an all-day cruiser. The rest of the interior is fresh and clean, which makes it all feel like a 1970s time capsule. In fact, there is one original piece that makes these manual transmission Super Bees especially desirable. The pistol-grip shifter is an icon today, and the first thing everyone checks for when they see Mopar muscle arrive at any car show. Of course, the practical side of this is that you have the best control for getting the most power out of your muscle car. Also just to make sure you have all the right info about what's going on under the hood, a new set of Auto Meter water temperature and oil pressure gauges are mounted under the dash. You've already seen those racing hood pins on the front of this car, and you already know Super Bees only came with serious power, so you must know that this coupe doesn't disappoint. The 383 cubic-inch big block V8 does a good job of filling every inch of the very tidy engine bay. It is painted in the correct shade of Hemi Orange, and as you can tell from the state of all the components, the powerplant has had a lot of service and care. While the pistol-grip shifter looks great in the interior, its functional side is as part of the four-speed manual transmission. The optional extra gear is not only nice to spread out the powerband, but it also give this coupe extra legs as a long-distance cruiser. The latter is helped even further by the power steering. But no matter where you go, the new dual exhaust will announce your speedy arrival with a great tune. Mopars are already some of the rarest muscle cars on the scene, and this coupe is one of the scarcest Dodges around. The paint says, "Look at me!" but the low production numbers and throaty exhaust screams, "You will remember me!" However even the most seasoned car enthusiasts often forget how rare a Hemi Coronet convertible is to this day. This 1969 Hemi Coronet R/T convertible is one of only 10 produced, 1 of 4 that included a 4-speed, and 1 of only 2 that came with the A34 coded Super Track Pack. This extremely rare muscle car was deemed worthy enough to grace the collections of Harold Sullivan, and headline the Lingenfelter collection before arriving in our showroom. Featuring a feared and legendary drivetrain, 100% original sheetmetal, storied history, and an authentication by Galen Glovier, this Coronet can easily anchor any collection. In fact, Galen Govier had this to say about the Coronet; "Of the three total known Hemi '69 Coronet R/T convertibles that exist, this is the finest example." Before we get too far, let's take a close look at how Galen Govier decoded the fender tag in his appraisal that is included in the sale of this incredible Hemi: WS27:Dodge CoronetSpecial, R/TConvertible J: 426 HEMI 425HP 2-4BBL 8 CYL9: 1969G: St. Louis Assembly plant 194494: Sequence numberE74: 426 Hemi 2x4 barrel V8 425hpD21: 4 Speed Manual TransmissionY2Y2: Yellow Paint P6X: Trim - Premium, Vinyl Bucket Seats, BlackX9: Black Int. At the front of the car, a body-width, silver trimmed grille hangs a bright red "R/T" emblem and clear headlights above a good looking, body-width chrome bumper and clear, round parking lights. Above that grille, the car's smooth yellow hood, which wears two functional hood scoops that have been trimmed in chrome and branded with subtle "Hemi" emblems, give the front a very aggressive look. Regardless if you choose to have the black soft top up or down, the car has an absolutely incredible look, especially under our showroom lights. Down the sides of the body, the original sheetmetal is in near perfect condition. A pristine driver's side mirror and cool fender mounted side scoops in front of a black R/T stripe add to the overall vintage look. And at the back of the car, a satin black rear valence centers factory fresh tail lights between pristine "Dodge" and "R/T" decklid emblems, a second body-width chrome bumper, and rectangular stainless steel exhaust tips. Pop the hood and you'll reveal a period correct 426 Hemi living and breathing from within the yellow engine wearing a correct 2468330 casting number. The incredible engine was rated to produce 425hp at 5000RPM and could do 0-60 in 6.1 seconds straight from the factory! On top of the engine, a functional Ramcharger hood feeds air through a massive air filter that wears the Hemi name. From there, dual 4-barrel carburetors provide the engine with an air fuel mixture to create the 425hp. Spent gasses travel out cast iron headers through dual exhausts with an H-pipe that exit out the back of the car to create the legendary roar of a Hemi. In front of the engine is a correct 26" radiator that is responsible for cooling the massive power plant. From underneath this incredible machine you can see just how cared for it has been its entire life. At the front, you'll find the familiar Hemi orange block resting behind a torsion bar front suspension that is equipped with an anti-sway bar. Bolted to the Hemi is an A833 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to a Dana 60 rear-end that, thanks to the A34 Super Track Package, is equipped with 4.10 gears to give the Hemi a bit more leap off the line. Front disc and rear drum brakes are responsible for slowing the Coronet. While in front of those brakes are 15" Chrome Magnum 500 rims that have been wrapped in Goodyear F-70 rubber. This Coronet's fender tag says it was originally equipped with a P6X premium black vinyl interior; and thanks to the restoration, today it still looks like it hasn't seen any road time. At the bottom of the seats, black carpet props a Hurst chrome shifter out of the floor to control the 4-speed. The car's dash hangs fully rebuilt gauges, which include an optional tachometer, beside an original 2-watt Chrysler Solid State AM radio sporting Chrysler's cool thumb-wheel knobs. At the sides of the seats, correct door panels hang armrests under fresh stainless trim and wood applique. And behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk props a full-size spare tire between a reproduction mat and a correct lid decal. The cockpit is a very luxurious place to log miles from. Adding to the appeal of this rare muscle car is just how well documented the car is. As we mentioned before, the sale includes an extensive appraisal from Galen Govier, copy of original window sticker, and a copy of appraisal from E. Edward Lucas II. Both appraisals that accompany this car show it appraised for north of $200,000, but you can add rarity to your collection for much less with this '69 Hemi Coronet R/T. It doesn't get much rarer than owning a car that is 1 of only 2 in the world. If you are ready to take home awards at events around the country, or are just wanting to add an extremely rare muscle car to your collection, this Hemi Convertible is capable of doing both. Trust us, under our showroom lights this muscle car won't last long. About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. From their wide stance and all-American sheetmetal to their distinctive V8 rumble and outrageous 'war paint', Chrysler's star muscle cars scream for attention, demand respect and pull big numbers. That's because HEMI powered Mopars, like Ford's Shelby Mustangs and Pontiac's Super Duty Trans Ams, are considered the ultimate factory performance machines by pretty much anyone who's ever turned a wrench. And naturally, all that high praise creates big time exclusivity which adds a 40 to 50 percent premium to the price of any professionally restored metal. Need examples? Not too long ago we sold this sinister blue Roar Runner for a cool $90K, and before that we sent this 1 of 1 GTX to its proud new owner for a solid $95K! Well, they say luck happens in threes, and as luck would have it this authentic Hemi/4-speed Coronet mixes correct red paint, a correct white on black interior and a correct 4-speed transmission with a killer Mopar Performance V8. If you're looking for some awesome Chrysler muscle that you can drive, enjoy and watch appreciate, this rare B-Body is the opportunity of a lifetime! 1 of 100 Hemi/4-speed Coronets built for the 1968 model year, this coupe rolled off Chrysler's St. Louis assembly line with the following roster of equipment:CAR: Dodge Coronet R/T 2-door hardtopENGINE: 426 cubic inch high performance HEMI V8 which came equipped with two 4-barrel carburetorsTRANSMISSION: Floor shifted 4-speed manualTIRES: F70x15 nylon belted red sidewall tiresMODEL YEAR: 1968BUILD DATE: December 31st of 1967AXLE: Either a Dana 60 or 8.75 rear end which came equipped with either 3.54 or 3.55 gearsINTERIOR: White on black sport trim interior with vinyl bucket seats.PAINT: Red exterior paintOTHER: Complete with white upper door frames and a white bumblebee sport stripe. Not 'circus show' bright or 'Farmall flat', it is indeed as smooth and even as its name implies with a pigment that's just bright enough to serve as either a tough weekend strip warrior or a well-mannered street car. It appears the car's restoration began with a solid original body that was in surprisingly good shape; and a current examination of that body reveals that all repairs made were conducted with high quality materials and first rate workmanship. Naturally, the body's restoration-fresh panel gaps are narrow and precise. Subsequently excellent panel alignment lays the foundation for moving parts which open and close with ease and echo nice, solid sounds. And at the back of the body, a correct white bumblebee sport stripe has been applied with a keen eye toward authenticity and, when combined with the paint's perfect reflections and the body panels ripple-free profile, creates one stellar Mopar muscle car! Dodge's Coronet was a little plainer than its Charger sibling, but a lot of people like that contrast and dig the car's super clean looks. At the front of this R/T's clean profile a body-width, stainless-trimmed grille hangs a bright "R/T" emblem and four clear headlights above a pristine chrome bumper and clear, round parking lamps. Above that grille a smooth red hood, which wears a traditional Mopar power bulge, flows to like-new glass that's sandwiched between fresh stainless trim, dulled stainless wipers and straight chrome drip rails. Below that hood subtly sculpted panels, which cast solid and unbroken reflections, hang familiar chrome door handles, small round marker lights and strategically placed "R/T and "HEMI" emblems between new stainless wheel trim, dent-free rocker mouldings and a traditional driver's mirror. And at the back of those panels, a satin black valence hangs factory fresh tail lights and a fourth red "R/T" emblem above a bright "DODGE" script, a second pristine bumper, and small, rectangular exhaust tips. Under this hot B-Body's hood you'll find a hot, 426 cubic inch Mopar Performance engine which, like the elephant it's modeled after, easily produces a solid 425 horsepower and a stout 490 lb./ft. of torque. Fully rebuilt, and completely detailed, this sweet big block combines the best attributes of that original 426 design with a few modern upgrades to deliver a killer combination of unbeatable performance and everyday drivability. At the top of the monster motor, two coated Edelbrock carburetors sip Sinclair through fresh stainless fuel lines and suck air through a large chrome air cleaner that's branded with a subtle orange decal. At the base of those carburetors a correct, HEMI Orange intake props a familiar points distributor between traditional Organisol covered valve covers. And at the sides of that intake, fire travels into the cylinders via eight reproduction Chrysler Corporation Electronic Suppression plug wires which snake around two correctly restored exhaust manifolds. Cooling for the big engine is provided by a familiar 26 inch Chrysler radiator which circulates water through fresh hoses and correct squeeze clamps. And like the motor itself, the car's smooth red engine bay is highly detailed and exceptionally impressive from its reproduction Mopar red cap battery all the way to its fresh decals and Chrysler branded washer fluid tank. Behind that big HEMI engine you'll find a correct A833 18 spline 4-speed that's just a driveshaft away from a correct Dana 60 posi-traction rear end and excellent 3.54 gears. The car's correct front torsion bar and rear leaf spring suspension presents as new from its brake lines and hoses all the way to its shocks and tie rods. This chassis left the factory with power front disc and rear drum brakes, and so they remain, along with a fresh power steering system. At the center of the floors, a free flowing, true dual exhaust system sends charred dinosaurs through an H-pipe crossover to awesome dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers and traditional stainless tips. And speaking of the floors, yes, they have been over-restored to match the body, but you can't argue with how good it looks; and imagine the comments from your friends as you wheel up in your new Coronet and instruct them to have a look underneath. The mill's power flows to the ground through familiar chrome Magnum 500s which wear sticky 225/70 BF Goodrich Silvertown red walls. And the car's rock solid undercarriage has been fitted with all new hardware that includes a new stainless fuel tank and new stainless fuel lines. Open this B-Body's elongated doors and you'll be greeted by a correct black and white vinyl interior that's been restored to the same brilliant standards as the rest of the car. In the late 60s Chrysler was still well into its personal luxury phase, and that mindset certainly shows in the design of this cockpit. From the white driver's seat, completely restored to match the rest of the passenger's perches, a wood-rimmed and satin-spoked steering wheel extends beyond a well thought dash. To the far left, controls for lights, flashers and a dimmer for the instrument panel are tucked into neat rectangular housings. Directly in front of the wheel, a rebuilt gauge cluster props a Tic-Toc-Tachometer and a large speedometer next to a grid of secondary gauges which keep track of the big cube powerplant's vitals. And to the far right, a correct Dodge Solid State AM radio sits between Chrysler's familiar rolling tuner knobs. At the floor, fresh black carpet is protected by heavy duty "Coronet R/T" branded mats. On the doors, ornate white panels hang stainless trim, chrome handles and pliable armrests below correct white frames that are branded with contrasting "Coronet R/T" emblems. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk features a correct lid decal, a new mat, a modern spare and a correct jack assembly. The sale of this awesome Dodge includes a picture of the original fender tag detailed above. With all the focus on big money Chargers and 'Cudas, it's easy to overlook cars like this authentic Hemi/4-speed Coronet. But that also means this super clean hardtop is an underappreciated rarity that offers all the same performance and handsome good looks as its popular siblings with increased exclusivity. Expertly finished in every way, this is one Mopar that will show well at any major event, is an absolute blast to drive, and certainly won't last long!
