1970 Dodge Challenger RT – Factory Original Number Matching 440 Magnum “U” Code You are viewing a rotisserie restored 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. Original number matching 440 Magnum engine, original data tag, dash ID VIN and drivers door VIN tags. Extreme attention to detail was taken to completely restore this awesome Challenger to original factory assembly line specifications. Overall restoration costs exceeded $80,000. The 1970 Challenger R/T 440 Magnum “U Code” option was an upgrade from the standard 383 motor commonly found in many 1970 RT's. The big block 440 AVS four-barrel engine was relatively easy for the average home garage mechanic to dial in for street and even an occasion run at the local drag strip. Even back in 1970 this factory “Go Mango” Challenger was a rare car with only 970 JS23 vehicles produced. Most Go Mango cars came from the factory with the black vinyl top and interior combination. This Challenger is the epitome of what was "Hip" in 1970. Driven less than 150 miles since complete restoration. This is a rare car in pristine condition and would make an exceptional investment that you can also drive and enjoy. Don’t miss out on a unique opportunity to own this vintage, big block Challenger RT!! Vehicle Condition Mechanically the car runs like new which is to be expected with a completely rebuilt 440 – awesome power! It drives down the road effortlessly and is a real joy to drive! Bottom line –this Challenger RT is completely restored so mechanically it is essentially like your back in 1970 driving a new factory assembled machine. Paint is show quality perfect. Vinyl top is in mint condition. All bright-work (bumpers, wheel moldings, hood molding, etc. are perfect. The Dash VIN plate, drivers door VIN tag and engine compartment Data Plate are all present.Decoding of Fender Tag: Bottom to Top, Left to Right Code Description E86 440-4 Barrel High Performance D32 H-D A-727 Torque-Flite Transmission JS23 J = Dodge Challenger S = Special 23 = 2 Door HardtopU0B U = 440 375HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL 0 = 1970 B = Dodge Main, Hamtramck, MI, USA 219549 Sequence Number '219549' EK2 Paint Code: Go-Mango / Vitamin C Orange H6XW Trim Grade/Style/Color H = High 6 = Vinyl Bucket Seats X = Black 000 Upper Door Frame: Full Door Panel C12 Date Built: 12 / 12 / 1969 049692 Order Number: 049692 V1W Roof Type OR Color: Full Vinyl Top - White A62 Rallye Instrument Cluster B51 Power Assisted Brakes C16 Console w/ Buckets C55 Bucket Seats H51 Single Air /w Heater J45 Hood Tie Down Pins M21 Roof Drip Rail Moldings N41 Duel Exhaust w/o Tips N42 Chrome Duel Exhaust Tips N85 Tachometer R11 Music Master Radio AM V6W White Longitude Sports Stripe Y05 Built to U.S. Specifications 26 26 in. Radiator EN1 End of Codes Assembly Line 1 PRIMARY USE - Street driven show car.CONDITION GRADE - Excellent - 95% of new condition. Shows virtually no wear, paint and bright-work are perfect.FACTORY ORIGINALITY - Pure factory stock appearance - A restored car in factory condition where the equipment of the vehicle match the VIN and documentation description. The restoration process included a mix of original re-built, NOS and reproduction parts. The car will appear stock in a broad sense, attention to the finer factory details are not adhered to. EXTERIOR - Overall, the paint quality is excellent. Overall panel fit and finish is about as perfect as it can be for a 1970 Chrysler vehicle. There is no evidence of rust or damage repair to the sheet-metal panels or frame. The "DODGE" hood letters are included but not installed. INTERIOR - The H6XW white interior is perfect condition. Dash pad, door panels, headliner and seat covers were replaced with Year One/Legendary components. Dash gauges were restored and re-colored and look like new. All glass including the windshield is good. The factory installed AC works (blows cool but could likely use a freon charge due to winter storage). The special Challenger upper interior door wood grain insert panels are include but not installed. If you are looking for a time capsule to take you back to 1970, just sit in the driver's seat. ENGINE COMPARTMENT - Engine and all additional components look just like it did back when the car was on the Dodge showroom floor in 1970. CHASSIS - Undercarriage is perfect. Factory simulated undercoating was applied during the restoration process. Exhaust system is perfect. The trunk floor is perfect. The original factory supplied jack assembly and "space saver" spare tire and rim are included. Both jack, rim are in excellent original condition. The tire appears to be original 1970 vintage. NUMBER MATCHING - The engine, transmission and body numbers all match the car's VIN.
