1972 Dodge Dart Demon (LM29H1B509xxx) factory 340c.i.(H-code) car with the awesome 5-speed Keisler engineering Tremec TKO-600 transmission. The Demon has power disc brakes, power steering, factory performance hood with stripe, black 340 Demon side stripe and black trunk stripe, original AM radio, factory vinyl top and rallye wheels with BFG tires. The Demon is believed to have 46,010 original miles as stated on the PA title and some older documents from previous owners. The stunning high gloss FE5 Bright Red base/clear paint is the correct factory color. The Demon was restored over the last few years and I just finished up a light restoration from top to bottom, which included the entire engine bay, trunk compartment, show car wet sand/buffing, rallye wheels/tires, full exhaust with factory tips, brand new professionally rebuilt correct date code 1972 340 engine (less than 100 miles), some interior items and many other items (please read details below). All of the body numbers match on the radiator support, VIN tag and on the speaker shelf/trunk divider area. You must check these numbers to authenticate that it is a real 340 Demon. This is an absolutely beautiful car and one of the nicest factory 340 Demons you will find with an excellent restoration and very low miles, great options and the awesome 5 speed overdrive transmission! The Demon was only produced for two years, in 1971 and 1972, therefore production numbers are very low, with few left that are actually factory H-code 340 cars and are in this condition. I also have the factory vehicle owners manual with the clear plastic jacket. PAINT AND BODY The body is in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seems and panel fit. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 40 hours and the finish shows it! The Demons sheet metal is believed to be mostly original with only the quarters, trunk extensions and front floor pans being replaced. The trunk floor, rear floor boards, rockers, fenders, hood, doors and frame rails are super clean and original. The Demon was painted about 2 years ago with base coat/clear coat and is in unbelievable condition… it has that deep wet look shine! If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! There are NO paint blisters or bubbles and looks fantastic. I am very critical on paint and there are only two extremely minor flaws in the paint, both located below the doors where the rocker meets the quarter at the seam. They are a very small 1” or 2” line in the paint (most of all A-body’s have this). These are extremely minor flaws and are not seen unless you are on your hands and knees. The trunk paint was just done and looks excellent! The underside of the trunk lid, hood and all the jams were done when the car was painted. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished. GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The glass is in very good original condition with only a few very minor marks. The front windshield is Chrysler stamped and in very good shape (it has had a chip fixed). The original Chrysler side and rear glass is in very nice condition and only the rear glass has a few minor scratches. All windows and locks operate as should. The front bumper is newer and the rear bumper was replaced by the previous owner and in very nice shape; however there are 3 chips in the chrome around the bumper bolt area (must have been overtightened). The top is free of any marks and has excellent chrome. The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. INTERIOR The interior was re-done with factory/custom seat covers, carpet, door panels, trunk divider, speaker shelf, dash pad, woodgrain on complete dash and sill plates. The factory gauge cluster is very nice condition. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. There are aftermarket water and oil pressure gauges for accuracy. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers and license plate light. The factory AM radio also works great! The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch work as should. The seat covers have the Demon character embroided in the top of the front seats! The original headliner in in decent shape and has some area’s that were repaired. I believe they are finally reproducing these one piece board types now. DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION The new professionally rebuilt date coded 1972 340 makes excellent power, runs very strong through all the gears and sounds great. The original 340 was long gone before I got the car but having a correct date coded 340 is very nice to have. The 340 was completely rebuilt to 1970 340 specs with 9.8:1 compression and a steel crank. We just put the new 340 in on 6-15-15 and it has less than 200 miles on it!!! It has a new Crower solid lift cam (very close to stock) 438/456 lift and 229 duration at .050, solid lifters, adjustable rockers, timing chain, water pump, head gaskets, bored .030 over, TRW Sealed Power forged pistons and rings, recondition rods and crank, Melling oil pump and all new Clevite bearings and brass USA freeze plugs. The new 340 gives an excellent range of power and has the well-needed 17lbs of vacuum to operate the power disc brakes. The 2.02 “J” heads (casting number 3418915 G) have been totally redone with hardened seats, valve job, new guides, seats and springs. All engine parts were made in the USA and not the cheap crap that is out there. I only use the Brad Penn High Performance oil and all the correct break in oil was used on start up and motor is all ready to go! It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for your older cars. The 1972 340 has a casting date of 2-8-72 and engine casting # is 2780930-340-5. The 340 is topped of with a Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock Thunder AVS series 650 cfm carb #1806 with electric choke. It also has the correct factory 340 exhaust manifolds part #’s 3614368 and 3418623. The new aluminum radiator was also just added with the new 340 and also has a fan shroud. The 5-speed Tremec TKO-600 transmission is absolutely incredible!!! It gives you excellent performance from red light to red light and gives you the extra 5th gear for highway cruising keeping your RPM’s very low! This complete kit cost over $4,700, plus labor. I have all the info on it with all the install papers and receipts. The rear end is a 8 1/4 with 4.10 posi center and a casting number of 3723599. It has newer Mopar Performance super stock leaf springs, hangers, bushings and new Monroe rear shocks. The front suspension had a PST kit installed in 2006 and is in great shape. This excellent drive train combo has very good performance and handles awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. This is a very tight and excellent smooth running and driving 340 5-speed Demon! This Demon has what everbody wants and sets it self apart from others with being a factory H-code and has power disc brakes, power steering, 5-speed overdrive Tremec, brand new 340 motor and much more! 1971 Dodge Charger Super Bee (WM23U1E120xxx) factory original ALL numbers matching ultra rare 440c.i.- 4bbl HP engine ( U-code), factory options include: auto 727 transmission, console, bucket seats, air condition, high impact FC7 Plum Crazy paint, power steering and am/fm radio. The Super Bee also has its original fender tag (completely decoded from Galen Govier), door VIN decal, 8 ¾ rear end, 3.23 posi diff., 26” correct original radiator, factory black stripe and performance hood treatment, black interior, 15x7 Rallye wheels, dual exhaust with factory turn downs. All of the body/sequence numbers match on the radiator support, cowl area, engine, transmission, VIN decal and fender tag. I have a binder full of documents with previous owners, some restoration photos, full history on the Bee back to the second owner that bought it in 1972 from the Dodge dealer in California, copy of CA title from 1996, owners card from Fresno, CA in 1984 and much more! True California rust free Super Bee! The FC7 Plum Crazy Bee is car number #324 in the Super Bee Registry. The registry has 5 of the 26 built U-code Bee’s registered and this is the only Plum Crazy one of those five! Who knows how many Plum Crazy U-codes there were of the 26, but this Bee could be the ONLY ONE when you factor in it is also a factory A/C car!!! I also have documents/letters that are personally signed from Galen Govier about the Super Bee (see photos). This Charger Super Bee is not only an awesome restored show condition car, it is also extremely rare and is 1 of 26 total U-code (auto’s and 4spd’s combined) 1971 440-4bbl cars ever made!!! VIN # Trans Year Model Body Style Engine Remarks Produced WM23U1E120xxx AUTO 1971 Super Bee 2 DOOR HDTP 440-4 U-code 1 of 26 total (both auto & 4spd.) The Super Bee has been fully restored from front to back. The drive-train, front/rear suspension, engine bay, trunk, interior, gas tank and rear end have all been restored to a very high quality restoration. This awesome Bee was mainly completed in 1997/98 and has just had a fresh light restoration! The Bee will turn heads and should win awards when you take it to shows and cruises. A restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correctly. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition U-code Super Bee!!! Most were 383 cars and a lot were bench seat with column shift. I typically restore or finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 25 years and I do everyone as if it was my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars that I offer for sale, which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. I don’t just flip cars in a week like many, as it takes time to make them correct and often takes me months to finish a car. I do all my own work from top to bottom, without outsourcing and always paying special attention to detail (such as always including all the correct hoses, factory clamps, battery, etc that is often overlooked in many restorations). This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos. Please call Chad at 412-496-1439 with any questions. Thanks! PAINT, BODY AND FRAME The rust free California body Super Bee is extremely straight and clean and in excellent shape. The trunk floor, trunk extensions, wheel well housings, doors, floor boards, quarters and fenders are all in great original condition. The frame and floorboards are also in excellent original shape. The undercarriage is very clean and neat with no rust and has some original purple paint and several factory paint markings still showing. The Bee was a non undercoat car with primered bottom, just as it left the factory! The FC7 Plum Crazy base/clear paint was done in 1997 and looks like it is fresh out of the paint booth today. Even the jams are awesome on this car including both doors, under the hood and the trunk jam. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 60 hours and the finish shows it! I do all the wet sanding by hand and under the best florescent lighting. I am very critical on paint and the finish on the Bee is incredible! The door jams are super nice and clean and you can see the factory seems all the way around the edges. The doors open/close better than any B-body that I have owned. The original door strikers and latches were also cleaned and look excellent! GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The front windshield is newer and the rear glass is in very nice original condition. The rear glass has one mark on the top corner about 1” long. The side glass is in very good shape and only has a few minor small scratches. All the glass is factory tint. The front and rear bumpers are newer and in excellent condition. The outside door handles and antenna appear to be original and in great shape. The trim pieces are super clean and were polished for optimum shine. The front grill has been restored and is in excellent shape. The taillights and bezels are very nice original’s (also restored) and look beautiful. INTERIOR The black interior is mostly original and unbelievable condition. I believe only the headliner, carpet and front Legendary Auto seat covers have been changed. This is one of the nicest interiors that I have seen and still has most of its original components. Even the inside firewall under the dash is in beautiful original condition (excellent wiring, heater box etc…). The Rallye dash cluster is also in perfect original condition. The dash pad is also near perfect shape and only has one very small split about an inch long at the center speaker. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers, and license plate light. The fan motor, A/C, Max A/C, defrosters, horn, factory AM/FM radio (radio turns on but barely any sound) and E-brake all work. DRIVE TRAIN The original, all numbers matching HP 1971 440-4bbl (U-code) was rebuilt to factory specs in 1998. It has the correct original 440 hp manifolds, 4bbl intake (#3512501) and cylinder heads (#3462346) on it. It has an Edelbrock 4bbl. electric chock carb, new electronic distributor kit with ECU box, and new coil. The 440 makes excellent power and runs great. This engine runs extremely smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition. The motor does not smoke, tick or make any noises. The casting date on the 440 is 5-14-70 and the casting number is 2536430-7. The ID badge is G-440 HP 8 20 making it a 1971 440 HP motor. The 26” radiator is also original and is the same as the Hemi and 440-6 pack cars part # 3443959. This is the 959 radiator that is hard to find and expensive to get! The original numbers automatic 727 was also rebuilt and has the ID badge with the correct VIN sequence number on it. The numbers on the drivers side pan rail are 3515848 correct for a 1971 440 HP and the build day number is 3344 which is Sept. 23rd 1970. The HD 727 shifts excellent and is an absolute blast to drive! The Super Bee has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. The Air condition was just serviced with a new compressor, o-rings, seals, receiver drier, Hi/Low pressure cut-off switch R12 and R-12 oil. The A/C works excellent and is extremely cold! We pulled a vacuum on it and it held a perfect 28lbs and then charged the system with correct R-12 refrigerant and blows ice cold air at 37 to 41 degrees. It is absolutely awesome to have such a rare car with all its factory options and have a numbers matching 440 with factory A/C that is working excellent! I would love to know how many of the 26 produced 440-4bbl Super Bee’s had factory air, FC7 Plum Crazy paint, console automatic and had these factory options!!! The original 8 ¾ rear-end has a 3.23 posi unit with new bearings and seals. The leaf springs are also correct having the heavy duty suspension with 6 leaves on the LH and 7 on the RH. There are also multiple original factory paint markings on the rear-end, torsion bars, P/S box, trunk wheel well (inside by rear seat) and on the back side of the side marker lights and other locations! SUSPENSION The complete front suspension has been restored with made in the USA Moog parts. The rear suspension has the original leaf springs, newer leaf spring bushings and front/rear shocks. The upper and lower ball joints, upper control arm bushings, tie rods, sway bar end links, and many other parts are all new. All the brakes, drums, brake hardware, hoses and wheel cylinders are newer.
