1978 Datsun 280-Z 2+2 Original Orange Paint, Blue & Yellow Plates, ONE Owner, California Car, Air Conditioning Meticulously Maintained; No Accidents Ever Ok, Eric Estrada called and said he's pissed I'm selling his cream puff 280-Z. Freshly resurrected form a 10 year slumber, this 280 2+2 is the epitome of late 1970's styling. If you know the car, you love this little ride. Got a couple kids and a wife, then you are S.O.L. with a regular 280 my friend... So here's your answer- the 1978 Datsun 280-Z 2+2. It is by far the cleanest original Z I have seen and that factor is thanks to her previous aircraft engineer (TWA) owner who maintained the car meticulously. Purchased new in Walnut Creek California (a somewhat affluent suburb of San Francisco), it has spent it's entire life garaged and with 66,000 miles on the clock, driven only on weekends. She's never had an accident or repair. I was lucky enough to purchase this and another car from the original owners estate. Unfortunately, all records other than a current clean title and the original title are not available as they were thrown out by the executors. Let the pictures do the talking. Even the original Nissan Battery is present and included. Click this LINK to see all photos. Everything is original and in very good to excellent vintage condition with the exception of two cosmetic flaws I'll leave up to the next owner to sort. See description below. Mechanicals: This car drives like new. It has very good mechanicals since all major components are in correct working order. Everything works as it should. The original engine starts easily, runs quietly and smoothly. It does not smoke and it has good compression across all cylinders. The original automatic gearbox works effortlessly, shifts smoothly, and makes no noise. The car does not leak fluid. The car is smooth at speed. The car responds quickly and accurately to all driver inputs. The brake system is in good order and the car stops well.  Body, Paint, and Chrome: The original paint is in very good condition with the exception of two areas pictured. I thought to have them repaired but decided to leave it up to the next owner as this car will only be original in every detail once, as it is now. This is a bit of a mystery. The rear right quarter has a small spot of rust which I believe is due to fuel buildup, at least thats what my buddy who knows these cars very well told me is common with these cars. Please see the pictures. The second small spot of degradation is where the rear window louvers meets the slide lock on the deck lid. The screws holding the bolt were not stainless and it seems to have created an area susceptible to corrode. Again, this car is original and has never had an accident. Since the car has not had any adverse history and has such good body panels, the panel fit is excellent. The chassis is completely straight and rust free. All lenses are present and in good vintage condition. The windshield and glass are original and in very good condition.  Interior: The entire interior is original and correct. It is simply beautiful. Not a scratch or crack on the dash, looks as good as the day it left the factory. Every switch and all gauges are functional and working correctly. The radio works as does the electric antenna. It is complete, and has not been abused in any manner. The driver's seat has minimal wear commiserate with light usage. Wheels and Tires: The original matched set of steel wheels are clean and straight. All trim rings are original and in good shape- one has a small scratch. The tires are about 10 years old and hold air but should be replaced. The original space saver tire is present.  Summaration: Sitting in and driving in this Datsun 280-Z is like being in a time warp. It drives beautifully as a new car would and everything functions properly. With the exception of the two minor cosmetic flaws described, you will not find a 2+2 in better condition offered at a very reasonable reserve. This is a rare bird, much less common than a standard 280-Z. A true survivor thanks to her previous owner who treated her with the utmost respect and admiration. Taken care of, this girl will maintain a smile on your face for years to come.    Call me anytime to discuss: 510.684.7525 Can arrange immediate delivery from Oakland, Calif. to any major port in Europe, the UK, or Australia at very competitive rates.
