Mileage 95000

I have a 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo I am interested in selling. The car has 95000 original miles and overall the car is in very good condition. I bought the car from a gentleman who was selling off some cars in his personal collection to finance the restoration of a couple of others. I got the car because my stepfather had one when I was younger, and the car brought back some good memories. I am the fourth owner of this car. Not much is known about where the car was purchased and the first owner, but the second owner acquired the car in 1988 and kept it until a couple of years ago when he sold it to the gentleman I bought the car from. The car was driven very little between 1988 and 2012; I think the car was driven barely 1000 miles based on the mileage showing on the copy of the title (for the 2nd owner) and the odometer in the car...yes, the odometer works :). I believe the mileage on the car to be 95000, not 195,000 miles. Body/Interior The car is two tone silver and charcoal gray. The body is dent, scratch, ding, rust-free. The car has had a re-spray at some point in its life, but there is no accident damage on or underneath the car. The interior is in good condition…the seats may need to be reupholstered at some point but are presentable as is, the carpets are in great condition, and the prior owner put a dash cover in the car. The leather on the steering wheel and gear shift knob is a little worn, but not excessively given the car’s age. Engine It has a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged engine. The engine is fuel injected and has not been modified. The car starts and it runs very good. The engine does not make any unusual noises, nor does it smoke or use oil. The turbocharger works as intended and does not leak oil, and the engine pulls very well through the range and exhibits almost no turbo lag. Transaxle The car has a racing style G31 “snail shell” transaxle. The clutch engages smoothly and the transmission shifts well, though it sometimes displays the common G31 trait of occasionally grinding when shifting into first gear. I am very careful when I drive the car and do not speed shift. The transmission does not make any noises when driving, and it does not jump out of gear. The prior owner replaced the shifter bushings before I bought the car, so there is no slop in the shifter. As noted below, it has a new slave cylinder. Standard features The car has the following features: · 2.0 litre 4 cylinder Turbo engine · G31 “snail shell” 5 speed transmission (with dog-leg 1st gear) · Power windows · A/C · Power mirrors · Rear wiper · Original Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette radio · Has original inflatable spare tire and jack · Has trunk cover shade · Has original tool kit and pouch Repairs made I have done the following work on the car since acquiring it. Many of the repairs stem from the car sitting a long time. I have receipts for the work I had done on the car, even receipts for small items such as light bulbs. · New A/C and alternator belt · Alternator mount bushing replaced · New rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders · Cooling fan wiring professionally rewired to work as intended by factory · New fuel pump relay (old one still works fine) · New cooling fan relay · Brand new Lanvigator 195 65-R15VR rated tires, which are mounted on the original 4 lug crosslace wheels · New outer tie rods · Replaced all light bulbs · Cleaned all grounds · Replaced slave cylinder · Installed new spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor · Refreshed battery terminals and checked wiring to starter · Replaced thermostat · Replaced all fuses · Repaired headlight motor I also installed a new K&N air filter which not only improves airflow to the engine, but will last the life of the car. Outstanding needs The car does not need much more in terms of repairs. Here is what I believe to be the outstanding needs it has: · Needs front brake rotors turned or replaced. · Will need new brake pads installed. I have the pads which I purchased from Pelican Parts. · Will need new rear shocks and front strut inserts. I found these items for a reasonable price on Rock Auto · There is something rattling on the exhaust. I haven’t had a chance to find out what it is. · The A/C needs to be charged as the car sat for a long time before I bought it · Small oil leak from one of the oil cooler lines…appears a little bit of oil is leaking through a pressed fitting…so once the car has been driven and parked, one may see a small oil leak after the car has sat. · The passenger window switch on the driver’s door panel needs to be replaced (both windows work fine) · Driver side door handle needs fixed (I may have this done before car is sold) Parts I have a small box of parts that go with the car: · Taillight bulb assembly · Various relays from an early 944 · Original fuel pump relay (very rare part to find in working condition) · Various switches, etc. Price I am asking $7000.00 for the car. The average value for these cars in the condition mine is in is around $7500 and up from there. I am trying to sell it at a price where I get back what I invested in the car while allowing the buyer to get a great deal; taking into account the outstanding needs it may have. I am trying to sell it to someone that understands what the car is and will ensure it is taken care of properly. I do not want to sell the car, but my wife and I decided it must go to finance other endeavors. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping for the vehicle, and the vehicle is sold AS-IS with no warranty.
