The first model of the 360 was the Modena, named after the town of Modena, the birth place of Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari and Alcoa produced an entirely new aluminium space-frame chasis that was 40% stiffer and 28% lighter than the previous model. This along with the lightweight frame designed by world famous Pininfarina design company helped the 360 utilize all the power in it's 3.6 L Tipo F131 V8 engine making it more powerful than the F355. The 0-62 mph acceleration performance improved from 4.6 to 4.3 seconds. The Second model of the 360 was the Spider. This was the convertible option of the 360. Since removing the roof of a coupe reduces the torsional rigidity, the 360 was built for strength in other areas. Ferrari designers strengthened the sills, stiffened the front of the floorpan and redesigned the windscreen frame. The rear bulkhead had to be stiffened to cut out engine noise from the cabin. With all this work Ferrari managed to only increase the weight of the Spider to 130 more pounds. Ferrari managed to take the original and make it a tad bit better while still keeping the reliability and the power of the Modena. About 17,000 Ferrari 360's were built from 1999 to 2005 and here we have one. In total, 3,083 units of the 550 Maranello were produced. This example is a rare combination of silver/black, has the standard 6-sp manual gearbox and only 45,206 original miles. It has always garaged and has a very recent major service (lubrication, seals, belts, etc.) completed. It has moderately new tires and the wheels are excellent condition.
