Manufacturer's Description: The Chrysler Crossfire is a rear-wheel drive sports coupe that was introduced in 2004 by the Daimler-Chrysler Corporation. The base model sports a 3.2-liter V6 and either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. With rigidity in its frame that is comparable to a Porsche 911 and a spoiler that deploys when you reach 55 mph, the Chrysler Crossfire is a two-seat speedster that allows you to push its limits at Autobahn speeds. The Crossfire provides a respectable 215 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque with the standard 3.2-liter V6, but with optional upgrades such as the 3.5-liter supercharged V6, those numbers increase to adrenaline-inducing levels.The original concept Crossfire was designed by Eric Stoddard and further enhanced by Andrew Dyson. The vehicle was produced from 2004 through 2007 and was built and assembled in Osnabrück, Germany. The Crossfire debuted in 2004 and was only available as a coupe, but during the next year a convertible model was introduced. In 2005 and 2006, the SRT was introduced, which provided drivers with a sport-tuned suspension system and the super-charged 330-horsepower engine. The dynamic design of the Crossfire gives the coupe a no-nonsense, let's-burn-rubber look that is both unique and stylish. Despite its Mercedes-Benz pedigree, the Crossfire experienced slow sales throughout its production years and was eventually discontinued in 2008. Much like its German cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SLK, the Crossfire's interior is a work of art. The original 2004 model sported standard leather upholstery and one well-equipped trim level. In 2005, the Crossfire was offered with a standard trim level that included cloth seats and a short roster of standard equipment. The Limited version, however, featured power leather seats, a high-grade stereo by Infinity, and a longer list of features. In 2006 and 2007, Chrysler livened things up by offering the Special Edition package, which included Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Coat paint, Slate Gray cloth seats, and cast aluminum wheels. The exterior was complemented with black windshield trim, side louvers, and satin-silver door handles. Despite low sales volume, the Crossfire received the Best Overall Value" award from Intellichoice. For many, the Crossfire is a true diamond. It shares many components, such as the engine, suspension, and wheel-base with its Mercedes-Benz SLK cousins. In fact, the dashboard and control panel gauges are relatively indistinguishable from the SLK320's. While straight-line performance of the Crossfire is actually quite inspiring, critics often note its outdated recirculating ball steering, which is stiff and hard to manage around turns.
