Up for Buy It Now or Best Offer is my own 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT 4x4 truck. The truck ran great up until the engine stopped running this past Spring (2015). I was going to have a new engine installed, but have reluctantly decided to sell it. Right now, I don't have the time or the space to change the engine, and I'd like to see it go to someone who could use and appreciate a very clean, original Suburban. First and foremost, the truck is very clean. Original paint still shines. Beautiful front clip and body panels all around except dent in driver's side rear quarter near fuel filler door (see picture). The chassis and body are very solid. No floor pan issues, no body rot, period. Interior is very clean and in great shape (except driver's seat needs to be reupholstered, but is pretty comfortable with the sheepskin cover that's on it right now). The 4x4 works excellent, and it got us through the past few snowstorms without any problems. It has the rear barn doors for easy access to your cargo area! Loaded with all the options, like leather, keyless entry, deep tinted windows, factory towing package, radio/cassette/CD/DVD entertainment system, cruise control, tilt wheel, power driver's seat, Has rear heat (works great) and rear A/C (needs one line replaced). No surprises. As described. The engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced, but that will be left up to the new owner. Long before the engine failed, the transmission began shifting directly from 1st gear to 3rd gear. The transmission does not make ANY strange noises, still runs cool, retains good fluid color, and otherwise works great in forward and reverse. I changed the trans fluid/filter and even installed two brand new shift solenoids to try and correct the problem, but was told by a transmission specialist that it needs a new governor, and then 2nd, 4th gears will be functional. Because the rest of the driveline is functional, my recommendation is simple. This was a very reliable vehicle. The bare minimum you must do in order to get this truck back on the road is get the engine running again. That's it! With the transmission in it's current state, you'll shift from 1st to 3rd at about 21 mph. On the highway, 65 mph runs the engine up to about 2300 rpms in 3rd. Yes, you'll use a bit more gas for the time being, but it will absolutely get you where you need to go. Once you're satisfied with the way it runs, then tackle the transmission. You may want to do it all at once, but the point I am making is you can certainly get through the upcoming winter and spring without doing anything except replacing the engine. The 4x4 works wonderfully along with the transmission. Use the low-low setting (1st gear on the column, 4 LO on the transfer case) to get you out of any snowdrift or really deep stuff. The 4 HI setting is perfect for a slightly smoother surface and higher speeds. This truck also features the AUTO 4WD setting that only engages the 4WD when it detects wheel slippage. Thanks for taking the time to look at my truck. Please feel free to come look at it before you buy. I'd be happy to talk with you on the phone as well. I'll give you my number privately through eBay messages should you want to discuss further. Cash only. It must be towed away.
