1992, Chevrolet C3500/K3500 trucks were available with a "dually" option -- that is, they had four wheels in the rear instead of the traditional two. This wheel option did not change any of the trucks' mechanical specifications. Placing two tires on both ends of a single axle, however, almost doubles the weight-carrying capacity of that axle. Also, this configuration allows three properly-inflated tires to carry the full weight load temporarily if one of the four rear tires loses pressure or is flat.
