1954 Chevrolet 5 window, 3100, short bed, step side half-ton truck. Just finished a year-long nut and bolt, frame-off restoration. Photos of the build are available. No rust, even in corner pockets. Starts instantly, runs very well, handles correctly and rides smoothly, with Michelin radials, gas shocks and alloy wheels. Automatic, 350 Small block, Power disk brakes, stock suspension. Frame is unmodified. Open drive-line with 10 bolt Eton posi rear. Paint is fresh, everything is new or refurbished. Body is straight as a string, good shut lines, shiny. Among many other things: New tinted glass in doors, wings and windshield. Original glass in three rear windows. New carpets, mats (with sound proofing) door cards, handles, locks, wind lace, seals, etc. Gauges work, new speedometer, with GM adapter to correct speedometer. New glove box, lighter, temp gauge, etc. Parking brakes work 1986 production 350 4 bolt main crate engine, rebuilt with hypereutectic pistons, RV cam, new everything inside. 1.94 heads, Weiand aluminum intake, Edelbrock Model 1405 (600 cfm) 4 bbl carburetor, new pipes, wrapped exhaust, two new glass packs. New electronic ignition distributor, fuel pump, etc. K&N element. 16 inch thermostatically controlled electric fan, with shroud, on the new polished aluminum radiator. Runs 175-185 degrees at all times. Transmission rebuilt, 3 speed, new floor shifter. Rebuilt 12 volt alternator. Brakes are disk Camaro type. 5 lug Chevy wheels front and back, Corvette 7 inch power booster with dual master cylinder located under floor, with adjustable proportioning valve for fine tuning the braking system. Every wire on the truck is new. All lights, turn signals and gauges work. New gas tank, sender, etc. All new rubber, door latches, locks, seals, windlace, glove box, etc. Spray bed-liner and new bed wood, plus LOTS of stainless steel bolts. Driven less than 20 miles since complete rebuild as of posting of the ad. This design is the last of the first series trucks. The rarest of the 'Advanced Design' Chevrolet trucks, these single windshields, unique grill trucks were only in production from 1954 to early 1955, just 16 months, ending the first series. Our Current ListingsAbout CABS Classics 1953 Chevy C3100 Five Window Pickup What You Need to Know We're proud to offer for your consideration the highly collectible 1953 Chevrolet C3100 five window pickup. Chevrolet's radically different 1947-54 Advanced Design light-duty trucks represented a sea change in pickup design and appearance. The cab was eight inches wider and seven inches longer. By pickup standards increases of this magnitude only happen once in a lifetime. Push button door handles replaced turning handles and a spare was mounted by the drivers side door. An adjustable bench seat slid to and from the dashboard, door locks were available for the first time, and a larger steering wheel influenced maneuverability. The 53 Chevy also featured "four-fold ventilation", through the easy crank down side windows, cowl top ventilator, foot operated floor vent, and the fresh air inlet on the curb side of the cowl. Advance Design was the term used to describe the historic 90-horsepower 216 cubic inch, Thriftmaster, overhead-valve six cylinder engine. 1953 was the final year for this 216 cubic inch Babbit bearing type engine. A three speed manual transmission was standard on these half ton pickups and used a single-disc clutch. The brakes were hydraulic expanding-drum types and the rear-end axle gear ratio was 4.11:1. The Advanced Design series went on sale mid 1947. Chevrolet pickups were number one in sales during every year of the Advanced Design era. This was the truck to own then, and this is the truck collectors want now. What we know about this 1953 Pickup - The current owner has had this truck since around 2002, when her Dad who she had bought the truck for a few years before passed away. He had a lot of the restoration work during the time he had the truck like the truck bed and interior. The truck was also painted during that time. Since the truck came to the current owner it's mainly set in a covered metal building. Less than 5k miles have been put on the truck in the last 15 years. This truck has just been dusted off and had a few things done to it recently. Some key points:New 6 volt batteryNew plugs, points, coil, and condenser New voltage regulator Working wipersOriginal owners manual is great conditionOriginal ID plateAll working gauges except gas gaugeIt's believed this is the original motor and was rebuilt by the owner who had the truck before the current owners Father. A true collector will appreciate the fact this truck is so original, even down to the 6 volt charging system. For not a lot of money you could convert this truck to 12 volt. The truck has some interesting modifications like the metal velour piece on the tailgate and sheet metal on the step boards where you would step to get into the truck. The truck looked solid underneath with no visible rust or any frame issues noted. This truck isn't perfect and is priced well under what a perfect one would cost you. It has a lot of potential and wouldn't take much to get it to that point. The truck has set for many years so you'll need to replace the tires before any long trips for safety reasons. Pictures below will show a crack in the passenger side window that cranks down and paint chips on the top of the tailgate. There's also a picture of some body damage to the front passenger side quarter. The small dent looks like it would be easy to pop out, then after fixing some scratches in the paint it would look perfect. Interior looks amazing with the only issue the arm rest on the passenger side door needing put back on the door. We had issues with the doors not closing well, we really had to slam them. No problems with the doors sagging, just seemed to need an adjustment or possibly new strikers. The radio doesn't work and as previously mentioned the gas gauge doesn't work. I have a great running 1951 GMC Pickup Truck with independent front suspension and fourlink suspension in the rear. The truck also has front disc brakes, power steering, electric furl pump, Holly Team G intake manifold with Edelbrock 600 CFM carburetor the truck has also been converted to 12 V wiring and the gauges lights, headlights signals, and brake lights all work. The interior of the truck is in excellent condition the seat is in very good condition and is very comfortable. The wheels on the truck are Boss 338 gunmetal wheels the front wheels are 18x8 and rear 18x9.5 the tires are like new and have about 75% of life left on them. The exterior paint is a patina like look. There is no radio available in the vehicle also windows require a little extra push when rolling them up and down. 1949 Chevy 3100 Deluxe Cab (5 Window): The 3100 was a truck produced by Chevrolet from 1946 through 1959 and retains an iconic 50's styling that can't be replicated. While the five bar grille remained unchanged for the 1949 model year, other features such as appearance and finish had changed. Inner bar assemblies were changed to a Waldorf White finish. Trucks that featured a rear corner window, a different rear roof panel section were used. The windshield still came in two-pieces with a black rubber seal and stainless steel divider bar. The interior featured wide seats, large windshield, side and rear windows. The instrument panel displayed fuel gauge and ammeter, pressure heat indicator and an oil pressure gauge. As the owner of a classic car dealership, I get to see all flavors of unbelievable classic vehicles. Yet the ones that I love, love, love the most are Chevy trucks! Maybe it was receiveing a classic C10 as my 1st car at 16 or maybe it is just the lines of these beauties that can't be beat. Needless to say, I'd personally keep all the examples as nice as this 1949 but, ... that would be bad business. What makes this 3100 even harder to let go is the history. Like myself, this classic Chevy started it's life right here in Houston, TX. This amazing truck was purchased new in early November of 1949 at Knapp Chevrolet in downtown Houston. Original title, payment reciepts, Owner Service Policy, and Delco Battery Warranty documentation from this original sale accompany this purchase. This truck was the original owner's pride and joy and was maintained for 40 years until his passing in 1989. This truck was then purchased from his family by a collector just noth of Houston. This second owner performed a ground-up restoration on the truck in 2003-2004 and later sold it to a local friend, the 3rd owner, in 2012. The most recent owner has decided to reduce his collection of classics and therefore this exceptional 3100 is being offered to the general public for the first time in 65 years! The aim of the restoration was to keep the Chevy original and with exception of highway gears and dual exhaust this truck remains very close to how it was when it rolled off the assembly line. You are bidding on a field find 1953 Chevy 3100. It has original paint and body. It is a rare teal color. Most so these trucks are red,green or Blk. It will make a killer rat rod or shop truck. It has NO motor or Trans currently. It has usual risk in front floor pans,cab corners and lower cowl area. It comes with new sheet metal for floors and inner cowl areas(see pics).
