1988 Monte Carlo SS, T-Top, H.O 305 200-4R 4 speed automatic. factory car with motor rebuild. Most of these cars are not running at all or barley and the others have been chopped all up to fit big tires, crazy speakers...and whatever else they could butcher up. The RPO codes still under the deck/trunk lid, factory build sheet was in the door panel, New tires, oil change, tranny fluid, air filter etc Car has no issues firing right up no smoking, tranny shifts great, overdrive does not slip, rear end makes no noise , steering is tight, Car was bored 30 over, company plate on the block. Car is 27 yrs old and does need to have some metal work as just about everyone of these cars does, one outer rocker panel, behind he T-tops, needs new rubber seals etc, needs to be restored but a great start for a good price on a car that I would have no problem driving around. A four-speed automatic overdrive transmission, the Turbo Hydramatic 200-4R, with a revised sport rear axle ratio containing 3.73:1 gears became standard on the SSThe 1988 model only came with the lay-down style spoiler, unlike the 1987 model, which came with either the lay-down or stand-up type spoiler, changed side view mirrors, etc. The final G-body Monte Carlo - a silver SS coupe — was produced on December 12, 1987. Total SS production for '88 was 16,204.

Vintage racecars are really starting to have their day. We're beginning to realize that we need to cherish the few survivors. Most of our favorite cars were tools that were used until there was nothing left. That's what gets us so excited about this ex-Ingram car. His crew chief, the legendary car builder Banjo Matthews constructed the chassis. Ingram raced this one from 1974 until the fall of 1976, including his victory at the 1975 Daytona Permatex 300. It would then be handed down to other future Hall of Fame drivers such as Donnie Allison and David Pearson. The car enjoyed a long carrier because it had a reputation for being seriously quick (it even held a long-standing speed record at Charlotte Motor Speedway.) But you couldn't see much of that history left when the current owner bought the car 15 years ago at an auction. Next, he spent many laborious hours returning this car to the glory right down to the correct sponsors and famous #11 Ingram's celebrated bronze car. The current owner was rewarded for his efforts when this car spent 2014 in the Hall of Honor when Ingram was featured there at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. This Monte Carlo comes from some of the final days when stock cars were still based on what you could pick up at the dealership, but that does not mean you get a velour interior in this Chevy. Instead, this one is ready to go vintage racing with the period-correct seat, Simpson harness, and driver's net. There is no center console; just the fire extinguisher and roll cage. This is a pure race machine, and you know it because the tach is your largest instrument and the Hurst shifter is your brightest piece of chrome. Under the hood is a true competition motor that runs on race gas. It's a 364 cubic-inch V8 with a bored 0.30 kit and dry sump lubrication. Up for sale is a 1987 SS Monte Carlo Aerocoupe. Chevrolet only built 6052 of these cars. This car is very nice and is a T-Top car as well. This car has been repainted once and is in fantastic condition. The car runs and drives just as it should. The transmission shifts perfectly and there are no noises that shouldn't be there. There is no rust on this car. The quarter panels are original and it appears that everything else is as well. The only things I know that don't work on the car are the radio ( there is an aftermarket Sony stereo and CD player in the car) that could be just a fuse? and the doors that direct where the air blows when the A/C or heat are on. The A/C blows cold but it blows out of the defrost (probably a vacuum line). Could also use a set of shocks to hold the trunk open. The car looks fantastic and gets compliments wherever it goes. The original bags for the T-Tops are in the trunk as well.
