1963 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop -327c.i. V8, 4 speed Hurst Floor Shifter. Car does have factory equipped Power Steering. Odometer currently reads 28,415 miles. Style on tag is 63-1847. Trim package 811. Car is factory paint code 927 which is a rare Anniversary Gold Paint code offered to dealers celebrating 50 years of Chevrolet. Read attached information about the 1963 Anniversary Gold Impala Below. Car currently is registered in Minnesota with a clean/clear title. Car currently has BFGoodrich T/A Tires. Engine: 327 c.i. V8 with Holley 4 barrel carburetor and Edelrock Performer intake. I believe the heads are from a newer model Chevrolet but i cannot confirm this Car also has an Excel Distributor. Car has Dual Exhaust. Car is very much original with all original Glass, Chrome Trim, Bumpers, Factory AM/FM radio. Anniversary Gold Paint code 927 exterior with black Interior and factory bench seat. The car is sitting with the original paint and patina with only non-factory panels that I can tell being hood (Primer), and front right Fender. Car runs and drives strong and in a good survivor in my opinion. Also has larger capacity radiator for better cooling capabilities. There is some rust in the common areas as too be expected from a non-restored Upper Midwest classic. Overall the car has an excellent original patina and is a good driver. Thanks The 50 Millionth Chevrolet The 50 millionth Chevrolet (pictured above) officially rolled off the assembly line at the North Tarrytown plant on June 10 1963. The car was delivered to Harry May Chevrolet in Monroe Mich., then given to Governor Rockefeller for his personal use for several days before being returned to the dealership, where it was on display for several years. No one purchased the car during that time (perhaps because it was not for sale). It was then placed in storage in the basement of the dealership under a car cover until the late '80s when someone happened to see it and inquired about purchasing it. That person contacted his friend, John Doerfler from Houston, TX who bought it in 1988. A few years later it was sold to L.G Bud Schoenleben who owned Bud's Chevrolet in St. Mary's, OH. In the early '90s the car was at the Carlisle fairgrounds where it was for sale for $100,000. It was documented at that time when it was still completely unrestored, other than some paint touch-up on the driver's door due to slight damage it suffered while in storage at Harry May's. Today the car is owned by Rick Schmit, owner of NPD (National Parts Depot). It is now completely restored (although it appears the original interior is still in the car). A Momentous Event Chevrolet planned this event weeks ahead of time and included media coverage which in 1963 consisted of a newspaper and radio blitz. The Tarrytown newspaper, The Daily News, covered the story very well and also ran GM advertisements celebrating the 50 millionth Chevrolet.A Special Sales Opportunity Chevrolet wanted to offer the general public an opportunity to purchase their own 50 Millionth Impala tribute car throughout their network of dealerships. The dealerships that ordered a 50 Millionth Impala were given promotional packages which provided marketing strategies and advertising templates. There were approximately 6800 dealerships in the US at this time and any of them could purchase a car for display and sale. If a dealer ordered a car it was mandatory that it have the Anniversary Gold paint and a black interior (bench- 811 trim or bucket seats-812 trim). This Anniversary Gold, paint code 927, is a different formula from the 1962 Anniversary Gold. There is a link on the right hand menu that has the Ditzler PPG color formula. The dealer literature did not have 927 as a paint code for 1963 as it was not a standard production color. After meeting the two color conditions the car could be ordered with any options the dealership saw fit to purchase. There is no information on how many of these cars were built but they can be identified by their paint code of 927. So, the big question. How many have survived. So far thirty four cars have been found in varying conditions. Below is basic information on the known example cars to date.
