This one packs a sweet-running 327 cubic inch V8 and an automatic transmission, perfect for the Imp's luxury-oriented mission and a lot of fun even today. Finished in correct Madeira Maroon, this big two-door hardtop looks fairly unassuming at first glance, and that's exactly the way they liked it back in 1966. Don't get me wrong, it's beautifully finished with nicely applied paint that accentuates the big Impala's no-nonsense look. Those massive quarters are straight, the big doors fit well, and the deck lid fits right, which is especially critical when all those taillights need to line up just so. Beautiful Impala emblems on the front fenders and the long strip of stainless trim keep ornamentation to a minimum, but again, this car was a wolf in sheep's clothing, so keeping it low-profile was the name of the game. It also looks like someone invested heavily in the trim, with bright chrome and stainless that shows well and accentuates the maroon paint beautifully. A bench seat is what full-sized luxury was all about, and the interior of the Impala feels positively massive because of it. Beautifully restored with new seat covers, carpets, door panels, and other soft parts, it definitely conveys a sense of luxury and performance all at a glance. A simple, easy-to-read gauge cluster looks pretty original, and it's complemented by a set of auxiliary dials hanging underneath. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo head unit replaces the original AM unit, but the installation is clean and no panels had to be cut to make it work. The back seat will carry three of your best friends and with that massive trunk out back, all their gear is welcome to come along, too. Theoretically, you could get a six-cylinder Impala, but fortunately for you, this one packs a strong-running 327 cubic inch V8. It looks pretty stock and proudly shows off its performance heritage with a minimum of flash and a focus on horsepower, complete with a Holley carburetor and upgraded Edelbrock intake. A chrome air cleaner and matching valve covers dress it up a bit and there's period Chevy Orange paint clinging to the block. It does include power steering, which is probably mandatory with that big lump of cast iron over the front wheels, and with a pair of glasspack mufflers underneath, it sounds spectacular. The 3-speed TH350 automatic snaps to attention when you push the pedal and there's a stout 10-bolt rear end out back. The undercarriage is in very good condition thanks to a lifetime in a warm climate, although it is no longer detailed for show. Handsome Cragar wheels and staggered 245/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear Uniroyal radials give it just a bit of rake for a performance look. Full-sized cars like the Impala are perennial favorites, and when they run this well and look this good, it's easy to see why. For this price, you're still getting a real code 14 '64 Chevy Impala SS sport coupe, restored to a very good standard. Wearing subtle and elegant code 932 Saddle Tan is always a good start, and when you have a super straight southern car as your foundation, good things are bound to happen. The pictures show how nice this car is, and there are no tricks here: the gaps are even, the sheetmetal is straight, and the finish has a wonderful shine that's just right on a '60s car. The correct trim was straightened and buffed, and SS emblems were added on the quarters, so it definitely has the right look. A clean, straight grille up front and six taillights and an engine-turned panel out back identify this as a top-of-the-line Impala, and the irreplaceable side trim is in excellent condition. If you bought an SS Impala in 1964, you got bucket seats, so that's what's in this lovely hardtop. Finished with matching code 862 saddle upholstery, the pleats are correct and with fresh foam underneath, it's comfortable and keeps the vinyl taut. Correct carpets were fitted, along with door panels with proper SS emblems. Engine-turning was the SS's calling card, so the dash and center console were dressed up with the stuff, and there's a storage bin center armrest with SS emblem, too. A beautiful steering wheel frames the original instruments and a column-mounted tach, and the radio is a neat AM/FM/cassette piece that fits in the original slot and looks fairly convincing, but offers a lot more functionality. The trunk is also extremely nice, showing no scary signs of rotten metal or previous damage, proper spatter-finish paint, and mats that fit well. There's also a full-sized spare up on its own shelf, making this a car you can drive cross-country with three of your closest friends. The engine most folks opted for in their new Imps was the 283 cubic inch V8. Topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and inhaling through the original air cleaner, it runs superbly as you'd expect from a small block Chevy. Bright Chevy Orange paint looks great in the satin black engine bay, and it wears Chevrolet script valve covers that were a hallmark of '60s Chevy under-hood dress-up. Notable equipment includes a recent alternator and it exhales through a great-sounding dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers for a period burble at the tailpipes. A 4-speed manual gearbox makes this a full-sized car that likes to play and it powers highway-friendly gears out back, so it's also a relaxed cruiser. 14-inch steel wheels with factory wheel covers have been retained, and wear appropriately-sized 225/70/14 radials. Sporting a strong-running 348/4-speed drivetrain and a stunning repaint that looks authentic, it's this year's best bet for stylish cruising. Yes, this is a real code 18 Impala sport coupe and a real SS, as evidenced by the black bucket seat interior. It's also a very straight Impala with gorgeous, arrow-straight sheetmetal and a clean bill of health, thanks to living in a warm climate most of its life. The paint was done fairly recently, and carries a brilliant gloss that should make the original enamel jealous, giving it a finish that will be the envy of anyone who's ever built a black car themselves. The body fits together quite well and I personally like the monochromatic look of the red top on the red body. It's got a few signs of use and age, because this Chevy was built for the road, but you're going to love the way this one look as much as the way it runs. All the chrome and stainless trim is in good shape and even the side trim is remarkably devoid of parking lot dings. Correct engine-turned detailing is another clue that this is a real SS, since nobody in the aftermarket is making those particular pieces and they're incredibly hard to find second-hand. Inside, the black bucket seat interior remains in exceptionally good condition. Refreshed at some point, it's a nice blend of original styling and some more up-to-date materials that are more inviting than the originals, without being obvious. Both seats are in excellent condition, and even the driver's seat shows very little wear. Recent carpets are the correct color and weave, and there are beautiful new door panels and a fresh headliner to round out the soft parts. Also note that this Imp offers a column-mounted Sun tachometer, auxiliary gauges under the dash, and a Hurst shifter atop the 4-speed gearbox. A modern AM/FM/cassette stereo has been seamlessly fitted to the original dash location, and even uses the original knobs! The super clean trunk offers a correct set of mats and a full-sized spare tire assembly that dates back to when the car was still a daily driver. The 348 cubic inch V8 was a big step up from the standard six cylinder, which, ironically, was also available in SS trim. It's got a 3755011 casting number and it has obviously been well maintained. It's mostly stock save for an Edelbrock carb, plus an awesome V8 soundtrack from twin exhaust pipes underneath. It's also nicely detailed, with traditional 'W' shaped valve covers and a chrome air cleaner, plus the Chevy Orange paint on the block. The 4-speed shifts well and feeds the original rear end, and while you're under there, please note that the floors, frame, and other components are still in very good condition. Fresh 225/70/15 radials on shiny Rally wheels look awesome and preserve the factory hot-rod look. This Impala is a timeless collectable that's also awesome to drive. Any Impala convertible is a cool car, but this 1966 Impala convertible offers all the upgraded features that Impala fans love, ranging from the 396 cubic inch big block to the 4-speed gearbox to the bucket seat interior. Starting out with a very solid car, this Impala received a comprehensive repaint just a few years ago. Finished in Regal red in place of the original Tuxedo Black, it's a classic high performance look that works well with the horsepower that lies beneath. It's no easy task getting massive quarter panels straight, but it helps when you start with a clean, unmolested original car and the results speak for themselves. The paint is two-stage urethane with a great shine, and while it shows some signs of age and use, there's no getting around the fact that this much bright red sheetmetal is impossible to ignore. GM was slowly getting over their chrome addiction, but there's still plenty of brightwork on this SS, all of which is in excellent condition. From the brightly plated bumpers to the stainless rub strips that accent the side profile, to all the correct 'Super Sport' and '396' badges, the detailing on this car is extremely well done. Yes, we know it's not a real SS but we also know that you love the street cred those two letters give any Chevy from the '60s. Bucket seats were a relatively rare option on Impalas in 1966, but like a real SS, they're intact and sitting astride a factory center console. The seat covers, door panels, carpets, and dash pad are all in great condition, not perfect and new, but just about right for a car that's going to get driven a lot. A bright aluminum strip along the lower half of the dash houses the secondary controls, while a trio of gauges are mounted just above the console. Factory gauges cover the basics and are in original condition, so they're a little faded but still functional (except the clock, which is typical) and there's a later AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit in the center of the dash. The black power convertible top offers a crystal clear rear window and on a big car like this, the power assist is really nice to have. There's also a snug-fitting black boot to make it look finished when the top is down. And as you'd expect from a full-sized car like this, the trunk is massive and includes a full-sized spare tire assembly and a correct mat. Power comes from a correct, but non-numbers-matching 396 cubic inch big block that has been fully rebuilt to stock specs and dressed as it would have been from the factory. A few upgrades add some horsepower, including the Holley 4-barrel carburetor and the throaty dual exhaust system. On the other hand, it seems they were aiming for an OEM look and feel, so it still uses cast iron exhaust manifolds and a factory intake manifold. Chevy Orange paint really pops against the satin black inner fenders, and bright chrome on the valve covers were a big block SS trademark for years. Treated to some tasteful appearance and performance mods, it has obviously led a life where it was cherished and not merely a transportation appliance. The Black Cherry paint is perhaps the best of the three Impala SS colors, being at once subtle and striking, keeping the car's sinister vibe and giving it some distinction. That's factory paint on the bodywork, lovingly buffed and waxed over the past two decades, and it shines like it was brand new. Even the bumpers are remarkably free of stress cracks and the blacked-out trim doesn't have that chalky look that cars that are stored outside often get. A few tasteful mods include the red bowtie up front, an LT1 badge on the front fenders, and a pair of shiny exhaust tips out back, but there's no denying that this car was one of GM's major home-runs of the '90s. Tinted glass certainly helps with the sleek, low profile look and adds to the brute-force vibe for which these cars were famous. The Impala SS got exclusive bucket seats wrapped in gray leather, making them unique among their full-sized GM siblings. Obviously the interior has been as well-maintained as the bodywork, and aside from some light comfort marks on the driver's seat, looks almost new. That's real carbon-fiber on the dash and it really dresses up the Imp's 100% plastic interior (don't worry, it'll come off without a mark if it's not your thing), and a set of Auto Meter white-faced gauges were installed on the A-pillar for a cool high-performance look. But beyond that, this sucker's quite stock and honestly, there's not much that can be improved. Power windows and locks, A/C, cruise control, and a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo were all part of the package. And a big part of the Impala's appeal is its size, so there's acres of room in the back seat for even your biggest friends, plus a gigantic trunk for all their gear. Under the hood you can clearly see where a lot of money went, and it looks incredible. It's shiny, well-detailed, and incredibly clean, with a lot of focus on making it look special. Polished aluminum and chrome are the dominant themes, along with some braided stainless just to dress it up even more. A cold air induction system feeds the Corvette-derived LT1 350 cubic inch V8 and the ECM has been augmented with a custom tune from a Hypertech programmer (included with the car), but otherwise the hardware is stock for long-lasting reliability. The 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission always seems to be in the right gear for acceleration and 3.08 gears allow this car to just loaf along at highway speeds, making it one of the best road trip cars ever devised by man. The underside is incredibly clean, with factory overspray still visible on the floors, and a Flowmaster exhaust system has been recently installed to give it that muscle car sound. Flashy red brake calipers are on prominent display thanks to the chrome ROH wheels that carry factory-sized 255/40/17 performance radials. This is an extremely impressive car, and one that will surely be a hot collectable in the not-so-distant future. With tasteful mods and expert care, it's one to own for the ages. Maybe survival rates are low but we suspect that the guys who own these cars love them so much they just don't want to let them go. And with this car's strong-running 327, handsome good looks, and a top that goes down, it's easy to understand why they're so beloved. There's nothing that says summertime better than a big, red convertible, and this handsome Imp wears the vivid paint better than most. Originally Marina Blue, it was repainted a few years ago and the workmanship is quite good throughout, with no signs of the original color, even in the tough spots like the trunk and door jambs. All the bodywork is in great shape, with those creases looking sharp enough to give you a paper cut and good gaps that suggest this convertible has led an easy life. Paint with a deep shine accentuates the car's handsome good looks and this is a real SS, so the badges on the grille and deck lid are legit. It continues the Impala's three-element taillight with a stylized version of the look and all the chrome and stainless trim sparkles against the bright red paint. It's hard to not get attention in this car. The code 895 white bucket seat interior is correct for this car and as an SS, the buckets and console were standard equipment. The combination of the white seats and black carpets and dash makes for a classic look that's easy on the eyes and from the looks of it, almost everything inside has been restored or replaced quite recently. The seat covers are in excellent condition with few signs of use and no UV damage, the dash pad hasn't been dried out by the sun, and the back seat looks hardly used. The gauges are probably original and still look great, but since they only cover the basics, a full set of auxiliary dials with a vintage Stewart-Warner look were installed under the dash. The steering wheel offers a leather wrap and a "suicide" knob and yes, this car does have factory A/C, a nice find on a ragtop of any kind from this period. You also get an AM/FM radio, a nice white power convertible top with matching boot, and a cavernous trunk that's neatly finished with a set of carpets, correct mat, and a spare tire with its own cover. We have every reason to believe the 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood is this car's original 275 horsepower engine, as it wears a proper date code and specs out properly. It's been dressed up with finned valve covers, an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold and matching 4-barrel carburetor, as well as a chrome air cleaner with reproduction decals, so it looks period correct. Chevy Orange paint pops against the satin black engine bay and there's nothing like a small block Chevy V8 for smooth torque production, even in a big ragtop like this. The 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission is unobtrusive and works well, and the original 10-bolt rear end seems to have some relatively tall gears in it, so this cruiser just loafs along on the highway. Hooker long-tube headers build torque and feed a burbling dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers and there are KYB shocks handling the suspension. Factory Rally wheels with big 235/70/15 white-letter radials give it a sporty look without upsetting the luxury car ride. A big, handsome convertible with V8 power, A/C, and no stories, all at a bargain price. Pretty hard to go wrong with that.
