Ford Australia was the first company to produce a coupé utility as a result of a 1932 letter from the wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia, asking for "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays". The 1971 El Camino got fresh front-end styling that included large Power-Beam single-unit headlights, a reworked grille and bumper, and integral park/signal/marker lights. For 1971, mandated lower-octane unleaded fuel necessitated a reduction in engine compression, and GM's A.I.R. system, a "smog pump", was added to control tailpipe emissions. Power and performance were reduced. Engine offerings for 1971 included the 250-6, small-block V8s of 307 and 350 cubic inches; and big block V8s of 402 and 454-cubic-inch displacements. Horsepower ratings of those engines for 1971 ranged from 145 for the six to 365. Though this Third Generation El Camino shows over 200000 miles- it has been garaged and sitting for the past 12 years.Under the hood it has the small block V-8 350cc 245hp. This is a 1972 El Camino with only 25 MILES on it. My family bought this car off of a family friend who was able to pass down the story of this car. The story behind this car is a long one, so I will shorten it down to the important material. This car was originally in a flood when it was at the dealer's place in 1972, however the car was not fully submerged. It was then purchased with intentions of rebuilding it. After our family friend had acquired it, our friend put it back together and primed the majority of the vehicle. Unfortunately he passed away before he could finish the project. So we bought the car believing that we could fix it up and eventually drive it and potentially make it a show car, because how often do you see a car that is almost 44 years old and has NEVER seen the road. When we pulled the El Camino out of the garage, that was the first time it has been outside in over a 3 decades!!! After owning this truck for several years, we decided that it is time that we tried to sell it. We put a little bit of work into this car, but my family just could not find the time to properly restore this. This car is an blank canvas that will turn into a wonderful art piece when completed. The vinyl top is in mint condition, however by the pictures you can see that there are touch ups that need to be done. The previous owner sanded and primed most of the car, with the exception of the doors and hood (which are its original color). The interior needs to be restored and as well as some other touch ups for it. The car does start up and run. We really don't want to sell this, but at the same time, we can't see the truck just sit in our garage for another couple of years. We would very much like to see the true potential of this car come out.

Up for sale is a great driver 1965 El Camino. This car originally had a 327, but has been upgraded to a 454 big block. Transmission is 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic and a 12 bolt rear end. The truck has power steering, and original drum brakes. The radiator has been upgraded as well to keep up with the engine. Tires are like new, with about 3k miles on them. All of the gauges work, except for the water temp, so there is an aftermarket gauge below the dash. I have owned this car for 4 years, buying it from Streetside Classics in 2011. I haven't done much to it in that time, but I have added 3 point seat belts, floor mats, a Custom AutoSound stereo, "454" badges, rocker panel molding, Air Lift rear spring kit, new battery, new tires. The car also comes with a rubber mat for the bed not shown in the pictures. This car is ready to drive as is, or there are a few areas that could use some work to make this a real show car. The engine and the transmission have fluid leaks, the tachometer works most of the time, but sometimes will cut out. The paint has a number of chips in it. I have used a touch up paint just to cover the primer or metal. I can photograph specific areas on request. There are also two imperfections in the hood that I have photographed below. Recently I have had vapor lock in the fuel lines after driving on the highway on a hot day.
